I found this episode to be pretty boring, unfortunate since they probably could have done more with pokethlon. I also knew I recognized that machine from somewhere, so thanks for pointing that out. And you can see here that kabigon did win by a bit.

I don't hate Piplup, but it takes up too much screen time compared to Dawn's other pokemon. They could have had Cynda be the one to get hit with Gible's failed meteors and still given Piplup some screen time by showing it being jealous of Dawn taking care of Cynda after it gets hit, like it was...
