Hey, I'm Tom and...uh...oh don't struggle to type already! >_<
Hahaha. I'm probably not the most "outgoing" type, but I'm learning to try and be myself after years of...well, I don't wanna say. Involved lots of trips to places and people that I'd rather not get involved again. ANYWAY, I'm a guy who wants to be a teacher when all is said and done. Preferably, a teacher in English and History with plans to teach abroad in Japan. To that end, I'm trying to learn Japanese...though I tend to forget half of what I learn. Must learn to stop doing that!
I tend to have a great respect for Japanese culture in general so it isn't "just about the games and anime/manga", though that does play a part in it (as in, that's what made me 'discover' Japan). I'm still young(ish) though, so I've got a long way to go.
Well...I guess next I'll expand on some of those interests down there. History is something I just love learning about. How monarchs have conquered (or been so), how revolutions occurred, wars, everyday life, religion; all of this I love to learn more of. Heck, I wanna study a degree in it, so it's gotta be something I like. As well as Japan, I like studying cultures and languages in general. The subtle things, in particular, are little peculiars I love to explore like how culture puns can't translate and stuff. *nods head like Animal Crossing character*
Annnnnnd yeah, from that last tidbit, I like video games (otherwise I wouldn't be here...arguably). Whilst Nintendo is the company I've been longest with and have most games of, I tend to like almost anything Eastern. GAMEFREAK, Squaresoft/Enix, SEGA, Atlus, NAMCO, Chunsoft...okay they're the obvious ones but still! Western games...not so much really. I liked Naughty Dog back in the day, but I haven't played anything of theirs for some time. Same with Insomniac. I also loved Oddworld. Generally, I've played a lot of Eastern stuff but I find Western stuff not to my taste as much. Not a fan of FPS' or Survival Horror at all though.
Anime/Manga...well...I've read/watched a lot of diverse stuff that's for sure. I actually probably couldn't name a favourite since each one has different aspects that captured my attention. I suppose the one closest to "best all-round" would be Cowboy Bebop - you generally have to have seen it to know why. I'm open for recommendations though since I like reading. I really don't mind what type of manga/anime you recommend either, I'm pretty open-minded about stuff I read. XP
Finally...plants. Well, this has grown slowly. Maybe it sounds unmasculine (though you wouldn't believe it with the number of pro male gardeners...), but I think one of the best things is just to lay on a hill surrounded by flowers. Tulips, Roses and Daffodils are my favourites, though I am partial to Bonsais, Lilies and Poppies too. And if all else fails in the garden...PLANT MORE PANSIES! xD
So...yeah, I've typed a lot about myself now. Maybe...a little TOO much...hmm...nah, it's fine.
