This sounds a little ambitious...? The wirters probably want Ash to face every trial and if they do, there is no way we have time for a mini Kanto arc, unless the series is 190+ episodes like DP.
Battle frontier was unbearable because of the abrupt voice acting change. Ash/May/Pokemon/Guest stars were all terrible but anytime you have a curt change like that you expect some difficulty getting started. The actors got better, especially Sarah Natochenny who I feel has caught up with...
I know someone on this board who would flip his/her shit at thread like this.
Ash is the anime's interpretation of Red and Gary is the anime's interpretation of Blue. Can we just accept this?
They could have made Axew marketable and still have it participate in battles (e.g. Piplup) rather than the Togepi route. I guess the writers just saw a better opportunity with Excadrill/Dragonite so Axew had no time.
Re: If Pokemon was directed towards an older audience, what do you think it'd be like
some of these exist, perhaps to a lesser degree but they still exist.
IMO the writers are going too far with the "anyone type can beat any type" I think they enforced it to reduce predictability but they are ironically making it just that.
Ok, first of I didn't want to antagonize you and I apologize for leading that on. I didn't want to come off as a strawman by twisting your opinion so greatly. When I said "you" I meant the user who said or implied the Sinnoh league was sub par as that was the original point of this chain...
Clefairy is way too feminine. Pikachu is by no means the manliest organism around but when I think of Clefairy i think of a small doll a 9 year old girl hugs in her sleep.
They were all average in comparison. Tobias is on another level. He was in many ways a prodigy. If he was a tier 1 trainer Ash would be a tier 2 trainer in comparison. I don't expect trainers like him to show up much and they don't, but powerful trainers should/can/will/do exist and that's why...
You didn't say it was awful, someone else did. I was speaking to the many people who thought the Sinnoh league was lackluster.
Ash losing to an average trainer makes him just that, an average trainer. In contrast the Tobias battle portrayed him to be a great trainer with potential. It made...
Ash can at least say that he was the only trainer in Sinnoh to defeat not one but two of Tobias' pokemon. That's no small feat. It's much better than building a 5 episode rivalry with someone, watching them beat Ash and then promptly lose to another trainer who spent no more than 5 seconds on...
Ash had to lose somehow. The idea of an average trainer using such high tier legendaries is actually a new concept. IMO it was a good way to make him lose without making him appear weak by suffering defeat to someone else. Look at Harrison/Tyson or that one girl in the indigo league. They were...
