I rarely ever nickname my pokemon, since I can never think of any good ones. The only pokemon I like nicknaming --> I have one Scizor that has a stupid name and my HG/SS legendary catcher: "True Swipe". True Swipe used False Swipe FTW :D

What effects? lol There are no effects other than you getting shiny Pokemon or max IV pokemon or any of that good stuff. as far as I know that's how it works. RNG abuse doesen't damage your game/ruin your savefile in any way, unless you have one REALLY messed up game. xD
