Yes, there are, and it's a shame. It just goes to show that stupidity never dies. One day there will be Gen IV purists, and then Gen V. The simple fact is, none of them are right.
This says nothing, really. What actually happened is most kids had grown out of the franchise by the time RSE were released. And the fad had simply died down. RSE were still the best selling games on the GBA, however the GBA itself was not as popular as the GB/GBC. Pokemon is still as healthy as...
Gen III was a far better reboot, it actually cut all ties from the previous generations in terms of compatibility and rebuilt the game from the ground up. The only thing Gen V did better in terms of being a reboot was completely abandoning all the old Pokemon.
After some consideration, I'm beginning to think that if this is a main series game, it will be Pokemon Gray. And it will be on the 3DS. Pokemon is the major driving force behind Nintendo's handhelds. With the 3DS struggling, Game Freak is under pressure to deliver a Pokemon game. So they will...
Re: Ruby and Sapphire Remake Discussion
While I do not dispute the Gen 1/Gen 3 concurrent timeline, the connections are vague enough that they could easily be retconned to happen alongside Gen V. Or they could just ignore it, and bring back the Time Machine.

They're both parodies of the extremes that environmentalists/conservationists can go to. Similar to how Team Plasma was an allegory to organisations such as PeTA.
Movies are not the same as games. Games are a lot more limited to the technology of the time. I can watch The Godfather just as easily as I can watch Avatar. But the same can't be said for Red and Blue compared to Black and White, or Super Mario Bros. compared to Super Mario Galaxy. The gameplay...
Well no, because even if you still had to beat the gyms in a set order, Hoenn as a region was designed so that the plot would require you to backtrack and made you revisit other areas (see Rusturf Tunnel)
Diamond and Pearl also made it so you could beat Crasher Wake or Maylene in any order...
They're harder in some ways, easier in others. Really, the experience of playing FR/LG and HG/SS isn't that much different than playing the originals.
You should try the newer games. Don't get caught up in this whole 'competitive' business, that really has no effect on in-game gameplay.
