There's an episode of DP where TRio revive an Aerodactyl Fossil which goes out of control before they are able to catch it, so I'm imagining a similar situation here. Alternatively, the glowing eyes we see on Aerodactyl sort of give me "Island of the Giant Pokemon" vibes, so maybe it's just a...
I was only arguing the fact that Hala claimed Ash graduated by declaring that he passed his final exam. I was joking when I said he had the authority to do that, I'm not sure if Island Kahunas can overstep their bounds like that.
"Final Exam" is a blatant reference to school. It really doesn't exist in any other context. It's also normal to attend another week of school after your final exams as a kind of wind-down period. Signing yearbooks and all that.

I really don't see why people would assume Brock isn't in Pewter City. Last we heard, he lives there and it's never been implied that he was some kind of traveling doctor. Pewter City surely has a university and a hospital/Pokemon Center.
I reckon it will be a long time before Gou develops a deep enough bond with any of his Pokemon to be able to pull off Mega Evolution. Maybe someday, although personally I'd rather it go to Ash as retribution for him passing it up in XY.
