Not counting remakes, when was the last time a Pokemon movie had a good villain? 2005 if I'm being generous. Yes, a tree was a better villain than anything that followed it.
Why is Celebi in this movie, again? (Other than to give people another mythical incentive to watch the movie, because the content itself apparently doesn't cut it.) It doesn't seem that Coco time traveled, and if he did, it certainly doesn't make any difference.
December 23rd (the previous Friday) isn't generally a gap week. They aired an episode that day just two years ago.
Besides, airing Movie 22 would help set up Mewtwo's role in the anime (assuming they'll wait until January for that). For once the gap could be justified.
Still not feeling this movie at all and I'm wondering how they're going to promote it for four more months. Manga adaptation aside for spoiler aficionados, we've seen enough.
They can't start promoting the next movie while this one is still in theaters, so I wouldn't expect any news before...
This wouldn't get old at all. Anyway, I suspect that they're trying to make the movie counterparts of Ash, Jessie and James somewhat different except for their staple Pokemon, because otherwise what is the point?
This movie is a bit too cutesy to my liking. Coco not meeting his baby self means that Celebi's role is rather redundant; Tarzan's parents simply died in the jungle rather than having their son stolen by a fairy. Maybe Coco is secretly an orphan, but Celebi's purpose is to leave the backstory vague.
Zarude has a decent design, but I really don't see any story potential here other than the Tarzan shtick ("Zarude and the boy move as one! They're family!"). Celebi might spice it up with the baby.
Between the shrine in the trailer and today's confirmation of a Celebi-focused TCG set to be released alongside the movie, I have no doubt about Celebi getting some role.
They specifically single out Celebi, so it's more relevant than the other legendaries/mythicals.
There is definitely no variety in the Pokemon Ash uses. Enjoy watching just Pikachu.
Movie 21 had several supporting Pokemon due to the cast, but this one will probably just have a lot of wild Pokemon in addition to the two mythicals.
It's the other way around as per PokeBeach: "The movie was a collaboration with OLM and Sprite Animation, a Los Angeles company. The Japanese directors of the film worked part-time in Los Angeles to bring this movie to fruition. They also revealed that they had wanted to make a CGI Pokemon movie...
The last two movies both had similar reception box office-wise (just under 3 billion yen). My point was that even if the CG remake had done better, they couldn't have really known that when they started working on this upcoming movie. They picked the safer option, and it would make sense if they...
I don't think that this tangent is going to go anywhere good. They started working on this movie before they saw the reactions to the last one.
I think they should release a CG movie once per generation, but who knows.
Tomioka wrote the SM time travel episode with young Kukui. Hmm, the concept is a little worn out, but this time Ash gets to take care of a baby? And maybe that baby's 10 years old self will change his own diapers? And maybe the point is that the baby won't become Mowgli because they're going to...
Tomioka is the writer. Reminder that he also wrote the Hoopa and Volcanion movies, so his track record with movies is sketchy. Hopefully this movie isn't about a lot of random battles.
I'm pretty sure that's a mistake as I checked the credits and only saw Articuno; I certainly don't any remember seeing any of them in the movie itself. All three are pretty much confirmed to appear on the show judging from the poster, and now that they have new forms, a Kanto vs. Galar battle...
