Of all times to be interrupted, it had to be during chemistry revision… Squinting against the sharp light illuminating from the phone, the avatar of the elements deciphered the blurred outlines of the message and its sender.

“Hey. You know how you taught yourself how to make any element? (the ones on the periodic table, not your stupid natural ones that you first taught yourself to use). Yeah, we’re going to need that. I’ve got 15 members at my office door… Just come and have a look for yourself. ~Pikochu”

Sighing, Elementar glanced drearily at the ancient grandfather clock in the corner of the room. Its face was slightly visible in the moon’s shadow. It was nearing midnight, but moderator duties always required attendance. He stood shakily, allowing a few moments to regain his energy. Stretching underneath his bed, he slid out a flat, silver disc lined with rusty tin. Maybe I should electroplate this with tin… The redhead reached into his jacket pocket, clasped a remote and clicked the yellow button on its right side. The disc shuddered and coughed to life, flickering its silver base into a luminous pale blue. This never gets old. The Australian moderator stepped onto it, closed his eyes, and opened them to find himself in his office.

After treading casually along the dimly lit hallways of Bulbagarden HQ, he found himself in front of the Outside the Box department. The area seemed to be evacuated, much like his own section. Cautiously, Elementar approached his previous co-hosts door. The lights in this hallway had been shut off, but a small whirring sound could be heard from his office. He clawed at the handle, but upon connecting with it, felt electricity surge into his body. Groaning at the surprise electric current, he staggered back and rested against the wall. Good thing I can conduct electricity. Still, that was strong…

*brrh brrh*

His phone once again vibrated at a stupendous hour, but this time, the message was more sinister.

“This is your first trial. Pass, and you get to meet your clues. Find the source of the current.”

The moderator knew exactly what the source was.
It is now Day 1. Day 1 will end about 70 hours from now on June 22, 2018 (Friday) at 4pm PST. Countdown Timer. Unlike in Periodic Table Mafia, there will be no hammerlynching in this game. All other day phases will be 48 hours and night phases are 24 hours unless otherwise stated.

There is no OC in this game other than what has been provided by the hosts.

Night 1: Anticlimactic Solutions

The odd chatter outside the door had become too loud to ignore. Pikochu calmly shut his laptop and approached the door, peering through the glass slip of the door to see 15 of the War Room’s regular members outside. It must be important if they’ve come here. He peeped his head through the door.

“Is everything alright?”

DarthWolf replied, “Well, hopefully. Depends how this turns out.”

“We’ve made you and Elementar a mafia game,” MegaPod continued. “We decided to pick some chemical compounds and give them as roles to ourselves. It’s a mystery for all of us.”

“…Right. I’ll be back with you in a moment. I’ll just text Elementar,” Piko said, pointing hesitantly at his cell phone. He chuckled nervously before ducking back into his office.

“Be careful, it’s late for him,” said AussieEevee in between his yawns.

Piko was at ease in the refuge of his office. Pikachu figurines lined the highest shelf, but paled in comparison to the mountainous piles of chemistry work on the next three. He sighed, and pressed send on the text.

Now he was awake.

Wires were attached to his limbs and forehead. He felt small crackles of electricity slips through his fingers and drain out of his body. He could see the reflecting glow of an electric tube behind him, storing some of his power before sending it into what he thought would be a current.

“I see you are awake,” stated an altered voice, so disturbingly deep and foreign that the shivers Piko received from the draining seemed delicate in comparison. “I’m one of the mafia. We knocked you out with some cyclopropane.”

“That’s quite outdated. That hasn’t been used since the 1980s…”

“I’ve heard it isn’t unpleasant in inducing unconsciousness. And we don’t want to harm you. What?” The voice suddenly became a whisper, as though having a conversation with someone outside of the microphone’s range. The voice seemed to return with a sigh. “Are you feeling alright?”

“Yeah, no pain. Just feels weird.”

“Good. You’ll hopefully be out of it shortly. We wouldn’t want Elementar to fail his first trial. You two need to help some of the players find out who we are.”

“But aren’t we the hosts?”

“Shhh, that doesn’t matter. You’re needed for the puzzles.”


Meanwhile, Elementar was outside the door to the room Piko was kept in. He was frantically mumbling to himself, trying to calculate in his head how much nitroglycerin he would need to make a very small explosion. He didn’t have the time to use his fire powers to melt through, and anything stronger would overwhelm his friend inside. So, he settled for his newfound powers, and was hating every minute of calculating.

“And if we put that and that with that and try to heat that then that might work… Ugh.” Eventually, he created an extremely small sample of C3H5N3O9, barely feeling the force of the compound with his control. He slowly sent the sample towards the door’s lock with his right hand, and shuffled nervously backwards in preparation for the worst.

“I hope this works Piko…” He winced as he shot a small flame of fire from his left hand. The wisp collided with the sample of nitroglycerin, and seemed to destroy the lock with the perfect amount of force. Elementar stood there, admiring the satisfying puff the small explosion had made. But his co-host interrupted his trance.

“…You still out there?” Elementar cocked his head towards the source of the words, pulling back the door and rushing to unplug Piko from the system. The lights in the room became green as soon as the current was interrupted.

“Congratulations co-hosts. You have passed the first trial. You may now talk to the players.”

Elementar chuckled as he supported Piko to stand up. “I guess we’re hosting again?”

“Yeah. At least the players did all the work for us.”

Day 2: A New Source
​

The lights had been switched back on by the time Elementar and Pikochu made their way back to the latter’s office. “How are you feeling?”

“A bit zapped, but I’ll be fine.” The two smiled until their faces turned towards the crowd of players bickering outside the office door. Soulmaster, Pika_pika42 and Max1996 were in a heated discussion about who was mafia.

“Want me to move them back to F&G? We can use my office this time.”

Piko nodded, grabbing Elementar’s Thunder Sword from his hand and using its remaining energy to recharge himself.

A few minutes later, Piko was enjoying the peace of his recently vacated office space, sipping on orange juice and browsing the forums. Hmm, one new Discord notification. Hopefully the channel hasn’t been set on fire again…

“When we said the players did all the work, all they did was submit different compounds. I’ll need some help over here. ~Elementar”

Piko sighed. I’m calling it now. This game will be 7.8/10…


“Well, looks like I was right. But these are interesting submissions.”

“I like Pika’s role,” replied Elementar. “That could cause them some confusion.”

“Yeah. Let’s hand out the roles.” The other nodded.


The commotion surrounding the roles had quieted down, and most of the players had gone to sleep. Elementar had this particular night shift, and was roaming the halls with a flame in his hand. He let the flame roar up when his teeth began to chatter, and his dilated shadow spread itself across the decorated walls. He looked at it half-heartedly, but gained interest when he saw it bend sharply over an ajar door. He snapped the fire out, clenching his teeth together so they wouldn’t echo through the halls. He leaned closely towards the door, pressing his ear against the wall perpendicular to it. He could scarcely make words of the muffles that slipped through the door’s cracks.

“The plan to make -------------- great. We’ll ------- to nightkill Pika then, he ------------------ and we can use ------------------ current. I’m glad the first ------ sparked ------------------. Good work.” The voice was deep and unnatural. Elementar knew who the mafia were, but didn’t know why they hid their voices. He turned away and felt his belt, confirming that his Thunder Sword was still there.

Hopefully I don’t need to use it.


Surely enough, Pika_pika42 was gone when the day arrived, and the mysteries continued.

Dear Pika_pika42. You are Amphetamine.

You are a nervous system stimulant that is used in the treatment of ADHD, narcolepsy and obesity. However, this is done in small doses. It is use in a recreational sense, which is illegal in most countries.

You cause symptoms like euphoria, and can confuse things. Because of your ability to make things weird, you are town’s 1 x Hallucinator and 1 x Bus Driver. During one night phase, you can confuse the mafia, and redirect one of their actions randomly or cause them to receive incorrect results. You can do this by replying to this PM with Make Mafia Crazy Tonight. Additionally, during one other night phase, you can switch two players, and whatever roles target one player will target the other. You can do this by replying to this PM with Confuse [PLAYER 1] and [PLAYER 2].

Dear Soulmaster. You are Water Vapour.

You are the gaseous form of H2O, which is water in liquid form. Generally, you are created from heating water to high temperatures, but you are known to exist in other cases.

You have the potential to burn others, and are the most forgotten form of H2O. Because of this, you are aligned with yourself, and are a 1 x Deathproof Even Night Arsonist. On every even night, you may choose to burn someone, and eliminate them from the game. This bypasses normal protection roles. You can do this by replying to this PM with Burn: [PLAYER]. Additionally, you will survive one attempt at your life, whether it be via a nightkill or lynch. You will be notified when this is used up.

You are aligned with yourself, and win when you are the last remaining player alive, or nothing can stop this from happening.

You are Ice. As water as a solid, you are commonly used to cool things down, mainly in people’s drinks. You pretty much disappear at zero degree centigrade.

Because you are one of the phases of water (and that we got four submissions of water), you are Godfather. All alignment checks to you will result as “town.” In addition, since you are the solid form of water, you have are 1x strongman. Once per game, you can change your regular night kill to a strongman night kill. Your night kill will guaranteed be successful. You can send the hosts Strongman Kill: [player name]. In addition, since you freeze things, once per night, you can roleblock a player by sending the hosts Freeze: [player name]. This will prevent them from using their role.

You also have access to the water neighborhood chat. However, you do not know the alignment of the other water players.

You are Ammonia. Basically, the chemical with one nitrogen and three hydrogen atoms, you are still a dangerous gas despite your common usage in pretty much everywhere you are used. Also, you don’t smell great although quite useful.

Since you are commonly used in cleaning products, you have the following abilities:

[li]1x Janitor: Once per game, if the kill is successful, upon the kill, the role PM and alignment of the killed player will not be revealed in the following day phase. You will not know the full details of the killed player. You can do so by Clean Body: [player] to the hosts. [/li]

You are very magnetically attractive. Because of your magnetic power, you are the town’s Attractor. You have three different abilities, all of which can be used only once.

· 1 x Lightning Rod: All night actions will be redirected towards you. You can do this by replying to this PM with Attract Tonight.

· 1 x Distractor: You can attach to another compound, and stop them from using their role for that night and the next. However, you also won’t be able to use another of your abilities during the next night phase. You can do this by replying to this PM with Attach To: [PLAYER].

· 1 x Loveriser: You can permanently attach to another compound. You will become lovers. You will share a private chat. However, if one of you dies, the other will die as well. You can do this by replying to this PM with Bond With: [PLAYER].

You are Furfural. An organic byproduct of most agricultural products, you’re mainly used as raw material to make certain goods and you are an energy use.

Since you are a byproduct of vegetables and vegetables are healthy, you are a doctor. Once per night, you may PM the hosts to Protect: [player’s name]. That player will be protected from normal night kills during that night.

In short, you are doctor aligned with town and you win when all threats to town are eliminated.

You are not one compound. In fact, you are a group of compounds. You are the main component of natural gas and other crude oils. There are different types of you; the most common being alkanes, alkenes and alkynes.

You have many different uses, and are found in many different types. Due to your versatility, you are the town’s Jack of All Trades. You have three abilities, all that can be used only once (they are all used during the night phase). They are as follows:

· 1 x Fire Fighter: You can protect others from fire. You can do this by replying to this PM with Shield: [PLAYER].
· 1 x Motivator: You can be used as a fuel to help power another player. They will be able to use their action twice in that night phase. You can do this by replying to this PM with Energise: [PLAYER].
· 1 x Suicide Bomber: You can light yourself on fire, and cause an explosion. You can target someone else, and both you and your target will die. You can do this by replying to this PM with Combust With: [PLAYER].
