Mafia Gregor the Overlander Mafia-Endgame: Gnawers reign supreme!

One summer day, eleven year old Gregor falls down the grate in his laundry room with his two year old sister Boots. Miles below New York City they discover a world full of giant creatures, and pale violet eyed humans. Their fates quickly become intertwined with those of the underlanders in a prophecy known as the Prophecy of Gray.

Roleclaiming is allowed following the special roleclaiming rules in the spoiler below. Breaking of this rule will result in repercussions.

Day phases will be 48 hours and night phases will be 24 hours. If I am unable to update on time I will try to let you know.

No loophole abuse please. I will answer any questions about mechanics you may have. I will also answer any questions about the series that will not give information away.

At the beginning of each phase set, four players will receive flashlights via rng.
Only those players with flashlights may claim in private and public.
The players may announce receiving a flashlight, but are not required to, nor will I announce who received one.
Players without a flashlight are not allowed to roleclaim in private or public.
A phase set is a day and night phase. Ex: Day 1 and night 1 is Phase Set 1. Day 2 and Night 2 is Phase Set 2.
Flashlights cannot be given away and are kept until the end of the phase set.

Gregor stood staring at the direction in which Vikus and Solovet had flown off in. He could no longer see them at all through the thick darkness of the Underland. Not even a speck of light from their torches. They had left a bunch of children in the hands of a rat. He looked over at Luxa and Henry. Both were still wearing the same shocked expressions from when Vikus and Solovet told them that they were to follow Ripred. Their bonds looking just as shocked, as well as concerned for the situation.

They were about to head into the rats lands with a rat as their guide. The exact species that killed the Royal pairs parents. He still couldn’t believe that Vikus of would leave them here. But he trusted Ripred. He had told Gregor himself, after all he had just left his own granddaughter in the hands of the rat. And if they didn’t trust him then who could they trust? The spiders? The spiders had kept them prisoner in their lands, and were only here now due to the fact that the rats had invaded them. He wouldn’t put it behind them to try to turn them into the rats if it suited them.

And the roaches? He trusted Temp and Tick, but he did not believe that they could ever lead. He doubted they would last long in battle either. The only true power of the crawlers was their numbers, and where they were going they did not have that. And clearly the fliers listened to their bonds, who were likewise as useless as Gregor currently. He thought back to the prophecy.

BEWARE, UNDERLANDERS, TIME HANGS BY A THREAD.
THE HUNTERS ARE HUNTED, WHITE WATER RUNS RED.
THE GNAWERS WILL STRIKE TO EXTINGUISH THE REST.
THE HOPE OF THE HOPELESS RESIDES IN A QUEST.

AN OVERLAND WARRIOR, A SON OF THE SUN,
MAY BRING US BACK LIGHT, HE MAY BRING US BACK NONE.
BUT GATHER YOUR NEIGHBORS AND FOLLOW HIS CALL
OR RATS WILL MOST SURELY DEVOUR US ALL.

TO OVER, TWO UNDER, OF ROYAL DESCENT,
TWO FLYERS, TWO CRAWLERS, TWO SPINNERS ASSENT.
ONE GNAWER BESIDE AND ONE LOST UP AHEAD.
AND EIGHT WILL BE LEFT WHEN WE COUNT UP THE DEAD.

THE LAST WHO WILL DIE MUST DECIDE WHERE HE STANDS.
THE FATE OF THE EIGHT IS CONTAINED IN HIS HANDS.
SO BID HIM TAKE CARE, BID HIM LOOK WHERE HE LEAPS,
AS LIFE MAY BE DEATH AND DEATH LIFE AGAIN REAPS.

The first stanza had been completed his first night in the Underland when they had killed two rats and tossed their bodies into a river. The second stanza was about him due to the fact that he grew up with the sun, and the fact that his father had fallen years before. The third was the group gathered around him. He and Boots were the two over. Luxa and Henry were bother Underlanders and of royal descent. Ares and Aurora their bonds as the fliers, Temp and Tick as the crawlers. Gox and Treflex were the spinners, and they assented as the prophecy said. Of course no one had thought much about the line of a gnawer beside. And yet here was Ripred, a gnawer who would lead them to the twelfth member, the one lost up ahead, his father. While the last stanza had yet to be fulfilled, they were about to start a journey to complete it, and one thing was for sure. If Sandwich’s prophecy was true, then four of the twelve would die on this quest.

Gregor flinched as more rotten egg water hit his hard hat. He looked back at Boots on his back, checking to make sure she was still doing well. Ripred had ordered them to go through a tunnel that stunk of rotten eggs, and was constantly leaking water. Thus they were all wet and stinky. Not to mention the bats couldn’t move in the tunnel so they were tied to the roaches backs. With each step, each drip of water, the group became more and more irritable. When they finally escaped from the tunnel and Ripred called for a break, they all breathed sighs of relief.

Henry and Luxa detached the bats from the Temp and Ticks backs, helping them to stretch out their wings. Gregor took Boots from the backpack, letting her run a little. Soon food was passed around and everyone ate silently. No one was happy as a result of the tunnel and thus no one cared to talk.

“Do we have to go through another tunnel like that?” Gregor asked as they prepared to leave again.

Ripred sniffed them, and then smiled. “Nope. You don’t smell anymore.”

The group looked at him in confusion. “What do you mean?” Luxa asked.

“You all stunk of human, spinner, so on. Rats would have found us too easily that way. Now that you smell like everything else here we can take the nice much more leisurely route.

Gregor stared dumbfounded. They suffered because of smell. Why couldn’t the Underland be obsessed with something that wasn’t how he smelled.

“Come on now. Move out!” Ripred ordered them all.

They had only been walking for a short time when they heard the noise of running. Luxa and Henry had been walking due to the ceiling being too low to ride their fliers. Immediately however the two had their swords out, their fliers also ready to help out. Ripred crouched into an attack stance, and even the bugs all took up stances, the roaches standing by Gregor to protect Boots.

Five rats came running towards them, Ripred easily taking out three in no time, the fliers and the cousins working against the other two until Ripred helped them out to kill them. Gregor stood with the bugs watching.

“Something be wrong,” Temp quivered.

Gregor however paid him no mind, he was too busy concentrating on the battle in front of him.

He should have paid mind to the roach though for at that moment another rat came from behind him. Its tail shot out, knocking him in the head, and thus onto the ground. It Temp and Tick moved to attack while Boots began crying and shouting. “No hitting! No hitting!”

They didn’t last long. Tick was knocked away, and Temp…Temp was put to sleep with a swipe of the rats claws. Before it could move to do more damage, Ripred had come to the rescue, quickly slashing open the rats neck. He then was yanking Gregor up, dragging him and yelling at the others to run. When they finally got a chance to catch their breath, Boots looked around confused. “Where Temp?” she asked Gregor.

“Asleep Boots. He’s gone to sleep.”

Two years, seven months, and thirteen days before the first book you went missing. It turns out you went missing in the Underland. While at first you were founded by the Regalians, you missed your family so much that you left the safety of the city to try to get home. This resulted in your capture by the rats who held you prisoner for those years.

You are quite intelligent and can explain how almost anything works. So intelligent in fact that the rats kept you alive to build weapons for them. You also know how to play the saxophone. However by the time you appear in the book you are delusional and feverish from the years with the rats. As well as quite emaciated.

Due to your feverish and emaciated state you are not able to do much of anything. Thus you are Vanilla. Your vote is your power.

Like all other crawlers you have trouble speaking English well, and don’t really have real battle abilities. But you adore Boots, worship her basically. So brave in fact that you have no issues flying into the face of a rat to protect Boots, even if it would cost you your own life.

You just want return home safely with your sister, unfortunately for you this leads to a quest in the Underland.

Despite the forced situation you actually get along quite well with some of the underlanders. You can generally tell if someone is good or not in comparison to the others. For this reason you are a 2x Cop. Twice in the game during the night phase, you can message me Check: Player, and you will be informed of a player’s alignment.

You are also extremely intelligent having read books in the Overland, as well as just understanding war in general. You hope to have peace between the rats and humans and will do anything for that. Thus you gladly help the humans in their quest in hopes of getting rid of Gorger who stands in the way of your dream. However this does not make you loyal to the humans for you would turn on them if need be.

Because you are such a deadly and intelligent fighter you are a 1x vig. One time in the game during the night phase you may kill player of your choice.
