Rocketshipping Club...!!

Haha, that's cute in a funny way! xD Wonder why they didn't dub that line? It's humorous enough for the dub...
Yeah, that's pretty weird... But I never understood what are dub translators thinking.

There's been a lot of new people lately, so how about we bring out this old topic again?

How did you get into Rocketshipping?

I think everyone knows it was DP for me. I hated Pokemon when it first came out, and didn't give it a chance until I went to Dogasu's site. I thought "If someone a few years older than me likes it, there must be something to it.". The comparison for the episode where Arbok and Metadogasu surprised me the most. I thought Team Rocket were these one dimensional villains who appeared in most episodes. (Yeah, I didn't thnk they could possibly be in every episode. lol)

So when Cartoon netowrk aired the first three episodes, I decided to watch, having finally given the games a try. I loved both right off the bat obviously, but what I didn't expect was to have a new shipping! I love shipping characters, and have ever since I was two years old. But for the past few years there wasn't any potential couple that really clicked with me. That changed when I saw DP002.

I had heard things like "Jessie is a bitch" and "James is gay" and "Jessie and James make a good couple" (I never got how 4Kids could pull off all of those) so I wasn't sure what to expect from Team Rocket. But when James wanted to leave the summer house since his fiance was on the way, I was very surprised when Jessie said "Well, I guess it can't be helped." and thought, "Wow, I guess she does care about him after all". So since Cartoon Network was also airing Kanto at the time, I decided to watch as much Pokemon as I could. I was watching about 4 episodes a day at one point (Kanto and DP were being rerun) and it was awesome. The more I loved the show, the more I loved Rocketshipping. They just clicked together so well, and I had finally found people worth shipping again, and my love for it returned. :)

I eventually found Serebii and later this place, and, well, I think you guys know the rest. :-D

How did you get into Rocketshipping?

I got back into pokemon after watching the the first movie again with my friends at college. Before that, I haven't watched Pokemon in years. I remember watching the first movie and seeing them hugging and thinking "look how cute they are! I wonder if they would make a good couple?" So I went online to investigate it, and was shocked that so many people were into shipping, and even rocketshipping! When I was younger, I didn't think about shipping much so it was quite a shock :). So from then on I read many sites, fanfics and watched several youtube videos about it. After that, I was hooked and began watching the show again.

It took me about a year and half to find Bulbagarden, and this thread, and I'm so glad I did!

How did you get into Rocketshipping?

Once upon a time, long long ago, when this Neo here was a small, innocent child of barely six years...she watched Pokemon on TV allll the time! Hooray for Ash and Misty and Brock, but especially for Team Rocket!

"Bad guys are cooler!" little!Neo said often. She would squeal in delight when they appeared on-screen, especially when she got to see them on "the big screen".

Little!Neo did not know much of shipping or pairings when she started watching Pokemon. Her sister, being four-years her senior, was a rabid Pokeshipper. This introduced little!Neo to shipping, and she immediately fell in love with Rocketshipping.

Rocketshipping had everything she loved: bad guys, violence, occasional romantic gestures, and lots of hugging. At first she even thought the two were married, being adults that were around each other 24/7 and touched each other a lot, but soon learned otherwise.

She joined serebii not long after her older sister and joined many RPs, adding her seven-year-old humor and always some Rocketshipping to the stories. At this point in time little!Neo did not know what "gay" was, so anytime someone may have called James that in reply to her additions, she'd just ignore them or say, "ok :D?" as innocently as possible.

UNFORTUNATELY litte!Neo eventually dropped Pokemon for the joys of [Yu-Gi-Oh!, Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist, etc]. ONLY RECENTLY, in the past few months, did present!Neo come to enjoy this amazing ship once again. A fantastic artist on deviantART, named Pumpkin-Girl, had posted a fanart of Jessie and James with locked arms. After seeing this, Neo went into a frenzy of searching for Rocketshippy artwork, her excuse being "nostalgia". Soon after, she realized it was not just nostalgia, she truly loved the couple once again. This led to Neo reading fanfics again and watching every AMV of them she could find [which is an unfortunate small amount].

So because her Rocketshippy flame was re-lit, she has written loads of Rocketshippy fanfiction, drawn multiple pictures, and made a few AMVs as well.

The end :D [well not exactly]

...[/sorry guys I've wanted to write something like this for a while, I couldn't help myself]

How did you get into Rocketshipping?

Bahahah,I guess I already said that I loved it when I was younger... but. Well, I used to love love Pokemon when I was 5 and 6, because that is when it was originally big (especially the Eevees), and when I watched the show, I might have caught the Holy Matrimony (along with the one with the Meowth back story, I saw that one like... 13 times, unfortunately), and I faintly remember thinking that Ash was annoying and Team Rocket was amazing and I kind of wanted them to make out which made me feel all blushy and embarrassed because 'OMG people kissing" was naughty~. But then I stopped watching it because I thought Cartoon Network was dumb, and when TR weren't in the games I pretty much forgot about them.

So then, a few weeks ago, I overheard someone talking about watching Pokemon episodes all day, and it brought on a ~flashback, and I remembered the fact that I was a RocketShipper, and so I had to get back into watching them. I just had to.

And so basically, I haven't changed since I was 6. But it's all good.

Eh, this isn't really on topic, but you were talking about fanfic recently so I thought I might ask-- does anyone remember an authoress who wrote these dark stories, had them on ff.net, and had a comm with a few other people talking about dark/unusual Rocketshipping? I can't find the comm now and only remember two of her stories: in one, Jessie and James were in a shipwreck and trying to make it to land in a storm, and in the other, a chaptered fic, some spirit/monster was possessing James and making them hate each other. (This one got pretty awful in places, content wise. Violence and death and that sort of thing.) Is that ringing any bells?

Chelys, I think I found the fic you asked about: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1898105/1/Calowaru

I don't know if this is it....

I'll PM you the link too...

How did you get into Rocketshipping?

I started watching Pokemon at 5 when I came to live in Australia. I would always prefer Team Rocket instead of the twerps, my fav was Holy Matrimony cause it mainly focused on Kojiro :p Then I got tired of Pokemon and mainly watched The Simpsons lol.
11 years later I came back watching Pokemon mostly for Kojiro, then I believed that Kojiro and Musashi will become lovers someday.
So now Pokemon is my second fav anime (My no.1 fav is One Piece).

Good idea to bring this topic again.

How did you get into Rocketshipping?

It was September of 2000 when Pokemon aired in my country. The first episode I watched, "The Challenge with the Samurai" wasn't Rocketshipping-heavy as we know, but even then I initially thought that they're a couple. When I discovered that they weren't I thought "These two should definitely get together, they're destined to be with each other". It was weird, since I've been never interested in shipping before, especially when it comes to cartoon characters. Then, I decided to continue watching Pokemon, because I believed that, sooner or later, there would be some hints for their affection shown to prove my hunch right. Unfortunately, my dad hated Pokemon at that time, and I wasn't really allowed to watch it... therefore, I could only watch it in secret, so the first serious hint I got was "The Ultimate Test!" episode (I watched "Holy Matrimony" earlier but only its first half sadly) in September of 2001.
This is when my real craze began, as I simply fell in love with Rocketshipping (of course I didn't know that it's called Rocketshipping at that time).

Soon after that, I got Internet, but as a n00b that barely knew English for the first few months, I surfed only Polish Pokemon sites. For a long time, I believed that I'm the only one in the Universe who likes Team Rocket, let alone Rocketshipping. But one, beautiful day in June of 2002 I discovered a link that someone put on certian Pokemon forum. It led to site called Team Rocket's Rockin'. There, not only I discovered that I'm proudly being called Rocketshipper, not only I discovered that there is much more hints that I knew about, I discovered that I'm not the only one in the Universe that believes into Rocketshipping! (let alone the fact that most fans were older than me)

SALVATION!

Right then, I started to surf multiple Team Rocket/Rocketshipping sites, look for fanarts, read 34162756 fanfics, download AMVs etc. I've also been drawing fanarts and writing fanfics myself.
With my newly obtained knowledge, in December of 2002 I joined certain Polish Pokemon forum to put a shame on Rocketshipping here... I got rather famous here, I even got to own Team Rocket Club, since people chose me as a leader... But, after a year and half, the forum went down and it had to be rebooted... Sadly (or not), not so many people returned and the whole forum died (Pokemon wasn't anymore popular). I thought "F*ck it" and decided to join the fandom abroad in the end of 2004, as my English improved enough to be able to communicate. Blahblahblah, and here I am today! :-D

PS: There is a new episode in a few hours and I have to go to school... noez D:

Nothing this week as expected. But I do have a question related to the episode.

We know Musashi doesn't care for Kojiro's bottlecap collection, but when he's been upset about it before, how has she reacted? In this episode she sighed and gave him this o_O look, but she didn't say anything to him. In the past, hasn't she told him to get over it before? Or am I thinking of something else?

Woah, Kojiro went mad in this episode... Even Musashi got afraid of him xD;

I'm not sure about Japanese version, but in the dub, yes, and I believe that it happened more than once. Well, she had this "stop whining" attitude practically every time when he whined about something, not only about bottle caps.

I remember that she threw a few of his bottle caps away when they were blasting off once. That was mean, though I'm sure it was an AG episode...

Lots of Rocket stuff next week. We have a real rocket again! :D

Oh, I don't remember that (well, I haven't watched most of AG episodes, so that's predictable). I remmeber she shouted at him about these bottle caps in "Spinarak Attack" though.

Oh yeah, just saw the preview. It doesn't look as epic as DP142 to me (maybe because it's Kinoshita animating xP), but it sure will be great >D

Looks like Kojiro will be extremely dedicated for this mission... Does it mean he will be in charge again? ;D

How did you get into Rocketshipping?

Don't remember exactly when pokemon landed in Finland, but I immediately got in to the games and the TCG. When the anime started rolling 1997 I decided to check it out. EP001 was a disappointment, but then came EP002. The TRio became my favorites instantly. Like many others, I also initially thought Musashi and Kojiro were a couple. When I learned they weren't, I started thinking how cool it would be if they were. I didn't really know anything about shipping back then.

I continued watching the show, and episodes like the shipwreck arc and Holy Matrimony strengthened my faith.

Then came a long silent period during which I just watched episodes occasionally. Then I found out about the rocketshipping communities in the web and started lurking everywhere. At this point I learned how "serious business" shippings were. And well...

I had an almost identical experience. I started watching the episodes differently, reading tons of fanfics and looking for fanart & AMVs everywhere.

DP was a real booster to my excitement, not only it was much more interesting than AG, but early on, it came apparent that Musashi can really do well in the contests (DP011 & DP012). I've personally liked the contests ever-since they were introduced, so it had a huge meaning to me. Then came DP020 and the lovely and charming J! She immediately become my favorite character (in addition to Musashi and Kojiro). Now I had even more reason to watch the show. Early 2008 I boosted things up a notch as I decided to rewatch every episode from the start (and simultaneously ofc watching every new episode) and became even more active in lurking in the forums. I guess this is when the current Rocketshipper-Ishiel was born.

I remember that she was always impatient over his obsession with his collection, but that's all I remember...

I find that so interesting that people thought they were a couple from the beginning because when I first started watching it I didn't think about it that much (only a little).... maybe because I was 9 or 10 and thought kissing was icky back then, hehe.

Great stories, everyone :)

Totally forgot the topic earlier...

How did you get into Rocketshipping?
I have almost the same story as Ishiel. They were great and interesting characters, and it just clicked. As a kid I mostly just played with the thought that "what if Jessie and James would be a couple" and so on. I mostly joked about it with friends... But it really felt nice when I watched the shipwreck episodes and HM. Too bad I started to hate Pokémon when Johto episodes started airing here, so I forgot about everything.

It wasn't until summer of 2008 when I spontaneously started watching old episodes which got me hooked again, and I watched the whole series. Now that I was more mature and familiar with other shippings, Rocketshipping felt great and it's been my OTP ever since then. <3 I have to admit I almost lost hope when I got to PCI dub episodes, but at that point the Japanese episodes started to look more bright, and I started following them just at the right time. (It was the Ginga-dan two-parter with the orbs. Musashi won her second ribbon a few episodes after that :-D)

Omg xDDDDD

Now... ermm... that's kind of interesting position... could it be from Kamasutra? xD

I swear, Pokemon smuggles a lot of ecchi stuff for a kodomo anime...

[edit] Speaking of AMVs, this isn't one, but it's a video. Description kind of says everything, I was very bored.

[originally i was gonna add voices to the last part but my throats too sore for that pfft]
OML  I got a good laugh outta that!
Oh my, oh my. This thread, it excites me so. :D
It's a BADGER!! Glad to see that it's excited ;) Nice to meet you.
But I already miss you! :bawling:
Stop being such a baby :p
That is actually the sweetest stuff ever! x3 I really love it.
How did you get into Rocketshipping?
Oh what?! Not this again!! xD

I have a boring story. I was into the show at its peak, avid Misty/Pokeshipping fan. Stopped watching when it was no longer airing on free channels. Found out Misty had left. Hated the show. Got back into the show (accidentally) just before DP started in Japan. Saw a "Chronicles" marathon. Saw the Hoso. Fell in love with Rocketshipping. Died. The end.
In this episode she sighed and gave him this o_O look, but she didn't say anything to him. In the past, hasn't she told him to get over it before? Or am I thinking of something else?
I think she's usually quite mean(, right? Someone back me up here! xD) I actually found today's reaction quite cute. She was a bit like -_- but she sorta humoured him!

I have never seen SUCH a one track mind as yours Jeska! xD

Well, I'd never expect Musashi to go "Oh, poor Kojiro" in a situation like this. The whole scene was created for comical purpose, since losing one bottlecap isn't a tragedy and Kojiro was overreacting so much. Besides, we arleady know she cares for Kojiro. It looks like she just shows it only when the situation is serious.

I have never seen SUCH a one track mind as yours Jeska! xD
Is it bad? XD

And what else did you expect me to have on my mind if I see a woman pressing a man's arm against her crotch?

Well, I'd never expect Musashi to go "Oh, poor Kojiro" in a situation like this. T
Oh yeah, that reminds me. I read a Cori falls fic yesterday for some reason. o_O Dude, shouldn't Jessie get dehydrated from crying so freaking much?! And I feel like reading more of her stuff. They're just so... fascinating in a way.

Yeah, they may have been extremely OOC and have a lot of annoying stuff, but they were well-written and were kind of addicting. It was amazing how she could set a whole plot based on a single, unimportant-looking quote from the series and connect everything into a logic whole in her fanfics.

Btw, she must have been real no-life. I mean, she was an adult woman having a job, and she still managed to write so many looong fanfics in such a short time? Wow. Just wow.
