Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gens 1-7)

Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gen 5)

If I want to pass on my DW Female's abilities to the offspring, must I breed it a male of the same Pokemon? That means if I want to breed an eevee/vaporeon do I have to find a male eevee to do that? What happens if I breed my eevee/vaporeon with Pikachu?

Also, is it inadvisable to breed pokemon used for competitive battling, because the Daycare will raise their levels and spoil EVs?

Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gen 5)

What is the best area for hatching eggs in BW?

Usually I just bike back and forth in front of the Day Care, but here are some other spots I use.

-Marvelous Bridge is a great spot because unlike the other bridges, there are walls so you don't accidentally leave the area while hatching.

-Village Bridge is also good hatching spot and has great BGM!

-For maximum laziness, you could enter the Battle Subway and hold down, but you can't bike in there.

To pass DW abilities, you need a male and a female of the same species. That means breeding a Vaporeon will always give off normal abiliies when it is breeding with Pikachu. Also, the Daycare only raises levels and learns new moves. It will not spoil EV's. Breeding is the best way to get competitive Pokemon that you can't find in the wild.

I'll add Skyarrow Bridge to that list, simply because the graphics are so pretty and it's a straight-ish uninterrupted path not too far from the Daycare.

I did wonder in DP whether the long stretch between Route 209 and 210 (with the town in between) was put there deliberately for egg-hatching, because it is convenient. Just coincidence?

So does that mean I have to breed Vaporeon with another Vaporeon, or will Eevee and the other Eveelutions work? So it must be the same species and not egg group?

Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gen 5)

You can breed Vaporeon with another Eeveelution or Eevee and Eevee will hatch. It can only breed with Pokemon in the same Egg group and in order to hatch an Eevee the Eevee should be female since the Pokemon that hatches is the species the female is.

You see, I'm confused because some guides say in order to get the DW ability, I must breed my Vaporeon with the same species ( which I hazard a guess to mean any of the eeveelutions only but I could be wrong). While other online guides say the only thing I have to do to pass on DW ability is to breed it with any pokemon that shares the same egg group as Vaporeon. Of course I have a female DW eeveelution, my question is what male pokemon can I or can't I breed female DW eevee/eeveelution with to get the chance of passing on the DW ability?

Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gen 5)

In order to pass the ability on you need to breed Vaporeon with a female Eeveelution or Eevee with the dream world ability. The result will be an Eevee that possibly has the DW ability( its a 40% chance of passing on I believe) The male Pokemon can either be an Eeveelution or a Pokemon in the same Egg group as Vaporeon, it dosent matter.

Hello :)

So, if I breed an event jolteon with its DW ability, will I get an eevee with its DW ability?

If the Jolteon is female with the DW ability, a male will not pass the Dream World ability down.

I have a female Vaporeon ;) But Manaphione says, I won't be able to pass on the DW ability if I breed it with a Pikachu (which is in the same egg group as Vaporeon/Eevee). Which is correct then? I'm kind of confused by the different sayings of the different guides, including Smogon's (which says same species).

@Gash: provided the Jolteon is a Female, and you don't breed it with a Ditto.

Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gen 5)

Ive never heard that.Im pretty sure it works with Pokemon in the same Egg group as I've bred several DW Pokemon just with Pokemon in the same egg group and gotten baby Pokemon with the Dream World ability.

Thanks for the clarification! I'll try it out!

One last question. If I breed my female Vaporeon with a male eevee that knows Wish, will the Wish be passed on to the baby eevee? Or can Wish be only obtained through chain breeding from Togekiss ->Pikachu->Eevee?

Wish can only be obtained by Chain breeding it onto Eevee.

Your initial situation works.

Your initial situation works.

Meaning I can breed a baby Eevee that knows wish by using Female Vaporeon and Male Eevee that knows wish?

Sorry, I might be misreading what you meant by initial situation. Or do you mean my initial question on the DW ability breeding?

Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gen 5)

Thinking about battling the upgraded Elite Four, like, after you beat the main storyline, but I don't know what levels my 'Mons should be around. At the moment my lowest is a level 66 Archeops.

As long as the male pokemon knows the egg move, it will work. The Male Eevee with Wish.

Well the highest level pokemon for the 1st 4 battles is level 73, and the highest for Alder would be 77. I'd recommend being at least 70+ (i was at 80 when i went back) but if you have a solid strategy, you could always go now.
