I doubt Pokken is going to make VGC this year, unless its been confirmed somehow.
It's either this year or never, and Ishihara said that he wanted it to happen eventually.

As for the examples you have posted, the usual March release those titles had is much more feasible then the hypothetical April-May release the game(s) could have if revealed this week. If a March release was on the table yes, it would be dubious. A month or so makes the difference.
So you honestly believe that Game Freak can't release a game a month or two earlier to make it relevant to the biggest competitive event of the year? That's especially weird if you think that the game has been in development since 2013.

Black 2 was released in June, right before the 2012 championships, there is precedent. Thse events take months of qualification rounds, nationals and planning ahead of the main event, its illogical to assume or use the usage of last years metagame as evidence against new games this spring. There would be maybe what, 2-3 montha between release and the VGCs? That would be madness.
Actually we're past the 2 year mark from XY, and are gonna be a good 16-17 months away from ORAS. Assuming they had the game in the backburner since the beginning, it could potentially be the longest developed 3rd version iteration.
Why are you counting the potential Z's development period, since the launch of XY, somehow skipping ORAS?

XY's development finished in mid/late 2013, and they immediately started ORAS after that. They finished ORAS a year later. So the earliest the next game's development would have started, is late 2014, after finishing the development of ORAS. I don't know why are you somehow assuming they started Z after XY. If there is a Z, that is, because it could very well be a new gen.

I searched it on google translate and the former(ポケットモンスター) just translates to "poket monsters" and the latter (ポケモン) to "pokemon". So, really, both of them have the exact same meaning.
I copied this from Joe Merrick's on Neogaf. Those are his words.

I hope it is not a new gen. I like to see gen 6 finish off with one more Kalos game considering it started with Kalos games. I know it is taking longer than usual but we have to take into consideration that Game Freak might have done it for a good reason. Z might be something unique and not just a traditional third version game. They could be surprising us with with a Kalos game that we did not expect. Although people here are having low expectations/hope of another game, we would wait and see what Game Freak announces before we assume anything.

If I recall Malvia stole Fennekin which is now her Braxien.
Well, she isn't a main character as such, but maybe that sadly takes Fennekin's place.

Wally found and raised Emerald's Treecko, who only got him back as a Sceptile. ;) Perfectly possible for Malva's Fennekin to be a "Hugh's Sister's Purrloin" scenario. There's precedent.

How exactly are they big news if we already know about them? Even if they official revealed, we would still already know their existance which would make the news pointless.

We had enough spin-off games introduced this year. Adding another would be overkill.

God, seriously? Not every Pokémon fan actively searches out hacks and leaks to ruin their experience like we do. Some people actually only follow legitimate sources? And not one of them has ever hinted that E!Floette and Volcanion exist. So yeah, two new Pokémon would definitely be massive news.

And we've had enough of FREE-TO-PLAY spin-offs that are poorly made. Almost every single one of us has at least one spin-off we'd love to see coming in the months or years ahead, so don't speak for all of us by saying "we've had enough". We are not you.

Bank can connect with two more games, is what I heard. So logically that would hint at two more Gen VI games, hm?

It's entirely possible that Bank can connect to Pokémon GO, Pokémon Virtual Red, Pokémon Virtual Blue, Pokémon Virtual Green and/or Pokémon Virtual Yellow. It's not very likely, but it's possible.

Of course it's also possible that one or both slots were placeholders.

No need to for that attitude. To me, Volcanion and Eternal Floette wouldn't be big news. As for spin-off games, we got plenty this year and I don't see why we need any more.

Volcanion and AZ Floette would be big news, the denial of it is getting out of hand. Game freak doesn't acknowledge leaks, they hope that their fanbase will follow suit. If you choose to acknowledge them and set yourself up for disappointment if they do happen to be a big announcement that is your fault and yours to get over.

It is just like genesect, just like Meloetta, just like the therian forms. We knew about them in coding yet they all became big announcements. I don't understand why people are pressed about this and feel so entitled to have better announcements. It's a game. Reality check!

The key bit here is 'to me'. To you it's not important, we get it. You've made this abundantly clear.

But to many players out there, this may be their first time even hearing about Volcanion & Eternal Floette, so of course it's going to be big news for them. They're brand new Pokemon to some people. It's understandable for Game Freak to hype that kind of news up.

Anyway, the reminder about VGC 2016 using OR/AS got me thinking again a release likely wouldn't happen until VGC is over. We may not see a new game until Q4 2016, which is a slightly depressing thought. We'll just have to wait & see.

They could always update the rules to include the new game(s). Besides there is no possible way for them to have listed a new installment when there has yet to be any official word on the matter. All we really have to go by is Zygarde and its forms and the clue we got about "flowers".

If we are to get a new game in Autumn of next year then I highly doubt that Zygarde will be the main Pokémon featured in the game. They revealed the Zygarde forms in September (with Zygarde Core and Zygarde Complete Form being teased in July). I honestly don't believe we can keep the spotlight on Zygarde for such an extended amount of time and continue to hold the cheese above everyones heads. At one point or another people are going to be over it. It would be very anticlimactic to make us wait over a year to just get something we were already expecting. Either we get a game before VGC 2016 that features Zygarde as its main Pokémon or we wait until Autumn to get an entirely unexpected game.

What do you mean? Of course Zygarde will be the main pokemon featured in the game. It is pretty obvious because of the attention that it got and the fact it most definitely going to the mascot of the game cover. There is no other pokemon that would fill the roles.

And there's no need for you to keep repeating the same nonsense over and over again. If you had just written the bolded part from the beginning, no biggie. But you never said "to me", you said "it wouldn't be big news". Point blank. Newsflash, hun. You don't speak for everyone, and everytime you try to, someone will correct you.

Unless ORAS took the entirety of GF's staff to develop and focus on ORAS, then the game(s), if they exist, were definitelt being deceloped since then. Or at the least planned out, with very little development done, like programming the new formes in and what not.

I appreciate it if you don't call me hun or any variation of that wood. I never said nor implied that I speak for everyone. It is not nonsense, it is my opinion but if it turns out to be the only news then we just have to wait for January or February. If there is no game announcement after February then we can say hello to gen 7 cause February is the maximum for me.

Did you read the entire post? What I said was that if we do get the next game(s) in Autumn of next year, that I doubt that Zygarde will be the main Pokémon featured in the game(s) (the mascot in other words). I don't know about everyone else but I believe that there is only so much that they can do to stretch Zygarde all the way up until next year in the Autumn.

No, they couldn't. A new game would render ORAS incompatible with the new content, and it has been made abundantly clear that ORAS are still going to be the relevant games.

If that's surely the case then I guess an Autumn release it is (anytime later than that would be absurd).

Why do you keep saying that? Zygarde would be the main pokemon that the game would focus on. There is no other legendary to be the mascot or focus of the game. Mythical pokemon never get to be mascots so they don't count.

This thread is a mess!

I think if the next game is being released in the fall, then it's not Z since it does seem unreasonable to stretch the Zygarde promo out this long...
If not a fall release but a spring/June one, then I think its appropriate to still think we're getting Z and not the next gen.

I honestly kind of feel deep down like if we were getting some kind of Z related game we'd have had an announcement by now, if not the release itself. I'd be happy to be wrong, but right now it feels weird that the hype train for all this Z related stuff has come and gone, and still no main game on the horizon. I don't even know what GF are doing anymore, it's confusing, but I agree with people saying that if the next game truly is set for the 2016 autumn quarter it is unlikely to focus on Zygarde. Considering that Gamefreak have been talking of pandering to casual gamers lately, it amuses me if they think their fanbase's attention spans would last that long, lol.

I do want one last epic spin around a Kalos that's better than ever, though...so prove me wrong, GF. Prove me wrong.
