Pokémon Evolution/Capture/Release Thread

I don't really see the point of Ash going back to the Battle Chateau at this point, especially when the battles would be mostly off screen, and capturing any sixth generation Pokemon also seems a bit unnecessary when the generation isn't marketing relevant so much anymore.

Ash seeing Tapu Koko like I believe the player character does in the games on the other hand sound pretty plausible.
I think this will play out similar to how it does in the games and someone like Hala will be like 'Oh, Tapu Koko seems interested in Ash. He must be worthy of something or a good person at least.'

Tapu Koko is a guardian. I think guardian implies it to be legendary so I don't think Ash would catch it.

Bewear and Mimikyu for James and Jessie sounds great, the absence of Gourgiest and Inkay probably means they will just get dumped at HQ, and not receive their own release episodes :(
Likely, but I don't see why they'd be out of their Pokeballs around that given time.

I feel that Rockruff is more of a companion pokemon than an Ash pokemon in my opinion. I don't see it being on Ash's team.

Looks like litten will be the comedic starter this gen as we can see on the trailer when ash and pikachu run pass him/her s/he has a quirk look

NOOOO!!!

But! Litten just.... isn't fit for the role...

Maybe they could make a Litten-Popplio relationship in such a way...

Popplio likes to play pranks. Litten is a serious cat. And the victim of Popplio's pranks is... Litten, even after evolution. They could just make it a Gible-Piplup relationship.

I'm not sure if that necessarily means that Litten will be the comedic starter. It looked like it was just startled by Ash and Pikachu running past it or maybe they stepped on it by mistake. One expression doesn't make a Pokemon a comedy relief character.

Yeah, it looked like it was sleeping on the warm sand. You'd surprised, too, if a moron ran past you at full speed, causing a ruckus.

But even if it WAS a relief character, so what? Yeah, the description has them as... Snivy, basically but what's the problem with giving a Litten or two a different personality? Just by looks, do you think being a rocker fits Pikachu? No, it doesn't, but they still made Rockerchu, anyway. It's not like we've had years and years to get used to Litten having one personality that it'd a world-shattering event to have one being different.

Sadly, many have been making that assumption with Ash himself ever since the first poster. I'm of the opinion that it would have been received far better if Alola weren't after Kalos. Everyone's gotten too adjusted to the anime being good for once.

Omg please let that abuse bear and Mimikyu become the TRio mons... My dream combi!

(But P.S. Please let Maaiika and Pumpjin also get a decent release.)

Farewell Pumpjin?!(n)

And that's one problem I have with the latest anime series. Why is Team Rocket not supposed to carry forward their Pokémon when they shall not be getting more than two to three Pokémon the next generation as well? *sighs*

Fingers crossed to see Inkay and Gourgeist again in the Sun and Moon anime.

They always use the argument that they'd raise suspicion if they're carrying Pokemon from a different region, which is complete bs, because:
1) Trainers travel from region to region all the time with their Pokemon (case in point- Ash, and even Sawyer)
2) They have a talking Meowth out with them at all times
3) They're not exactly known for their stealthiness to begin with

But it's probably because Team Rocket's Pokemon mainly appear for a total of 30 seconds before they get blasted off so it's easier to just give them 1 or 2 new Pokemon for diversity's sake and game promotion.

The reason Team Rocket didn't bring their Unova Pokemon is because they were forced to give them to Giovanni because they didn't really achieve anything else in the Unova region

I don't think they'll just up and release Inkay and Gourgeist, there's a chance they'll just leave them at HQ like Seviper, Yanmega, Carnivine and Mime Jr., maybe James' Inkay will evolve into Malamar? There's also a chance that Mime Jr. will return to James as well

I don't know if I could see Jessie and James leaving their Pokemon at Team Rocket HQ this time around. It made sense with their Unova Pokemon since they really didn't develop any bond between them during the course of BW. The closest was how James captured Yamask and that disappeared right after its capture. With Inkay and Gourgeist, they've become too close with them for me to believe that they would leave them at Team Rocket HQ. I'm also not sure if we'd see them again. I don't think Team Rocket HQ is the same thing as Professor Oak's lab where we have the chance of Ash seeing/using his Pokemon again. Wobbuffet might be the only exception due to its popularity and being basically a secondary mascot for Team Rocket.

I don't know if I could see them releasing Inkay and Gourgeist either, but that would be more within their characters than leaving their Pokemon at HQ again.

The issue is too close to me (and I still haven't recovered from DP's disgrace) to objectively opine on the subject but I sincerely, from the bottom of my stone heart, wish that those of you suggesting that they may stay are right. I just don't want to get my hopes up unnecessarily. I have steeled myself for a graceless dumping next episode! (I hope the steeling will have been in vain...)

I do see Team Rocket HQ as Team Rocket's version of Oak's Laboratory. While I don't think I can see Jessie's Seviper happily slithering around a grassy field, I do kind of think that they might be kept in some room to roam around and play, or maybe they are allowed to move around the whole Headquarters. I don't see any point in them releasing Inkay and Gourgeist, but I think they'll just end up at Team Rocket HQ. And as to why they leave their Pokemon their after every region or so, then it's probably because they only have one or two Pokemon with them in every region, and that those Pokemon are from the region that they are in. This is probably because for them to have more than three Pokemon or so would be too many Pokemon for them to have and so that they don't have too many Pokemon to choose from when they battle Ash and co. Plus this way, they get their fair share of focus instead of sharing it with other Pokemon.
