Again, the concept art maps are extremely detailed to the point that they do tell us almost everything. There might be a few areas hidden underground or indoors and the areas might not always be proportioned 100% accurately, but beyond that, there really isn't much else to tell. We know in general what each area looks like and how it's designed. We know how big and open the game and its areas are. We know what ways the paths lead. So that rules out a lot of things that people were looking for in regards to exploration. It can't be like BotW because there are too many barriers or linear paths. It can't be like Xenoblade or Ocarina of Time because the paths are too narrow and there aren't enough open fields. The design of the areas puts it squarely in SM territory.
There’s two things wrong here. One is again, no, the concept map does not tell us everything. They wouldn’t reveal it so early if it did. Alola’s map did not look linear in any way but it ended up being extremely so. It is far too early to lament on how linear this game is, but if you want to complain and cast judgement already I can’t stop you.

The second thing is why were you expecting this to be BotW? Or any other game? This is Pokémon. Enjoy it for what it is. I mean fair enough that you would enjoy a more open world, but I’m not sure why you would expect that and why that would be a deal breaker considering how many great games Pokémon has despite having never done that. The fact is we know very little and Sword and Shield still have a lot of potential. But if you want to discount them already so be it, I’ll be here excited to play them and learn more info.

If you looked at Alola's map as analytically as Gamexplain has with Galar, you would've been able to tell that actually. There just weren't a lot of branching paths that would indicate that Alola was nonlinear. And even the areas that did look like they had some options like Akala had a certain flow to them. Galar has this same kind of design, which is why we can deduce that it's linear.

Because this is a modern console, and console games tend to have different standards that come with the increased price.[/QUOTE]

I thought they concluded that the big lake area may be "open world". Is one area being "open world" good enough?

Wouldn't it be like orange islands if he wins now?
No gyms, new league... he could win but would this win counts?
After the League, with his Vacation finally at a close, Ash with his mom would travel back to Pallet Town. Then from there something would occur to make Ash want to travel to the Galar Region. Perhaps his Meltan would have something to do with it, with Kukui and Oak unable to decipher the mythical, they would come to a conclusion that the only Region that seems to know Steel Pokemon more than any Region is the Galar Region, and would tell Ash to take Meltan to the Pokemon Professor there. Yet would warn, just like Sinnoh that the Galar League and Trainers are far tougher.

Also, at this point in time, I think the writers would rather kill Ash than letting him win the League.

My prediction: Ash will win Gen VIII's League, but it will be all just a dream and because he overslept, he missed his first match and got disqualified.

Too cruel?

I don't think that Meltan will have any significance in Galar.

For me it depends on melmetal. If melmetal appears in this last episodes of alola, then meltan/melmetal arc is done. If not, then we'll see meltan and melmetal in galar.

After 8 generations yes... would be a good idea for sinnoh...
