RotomDex should die along with the plaza

Oh no, that reminds me, I was looking at the map again and the weird purple roof looking thing over this town really reminds me of Join Avenue, which I really hope it's not? Because after both that and Festival Plaza, I feel like I've had enough of that particular kind of multiplayer feature for a while.

It just doesn't ever feel like it works the way they wanted it to, it always feels kind of unnatural and awkward and I barely even used any of the stores/stalls beyond like, the lottery drawing ones. I think Festival Plaza is by far the worse of the two, for putting all the multiplayer online stuff IN the festival plaza instead of the much simpler and clearer PSS system from Gen 6.

Plus, if they put that in again it'll be one less new and potentially fun feature. I way prefer some sort of new experimental gameplay feature over an old, kind of unsuccessful one, rehashed for the third time.

I'm hoping that instead this building will be a regular shopping mall type area, just a small town that adds to the lore of the world, or something entirely different that they'll reveal later.

I actually liked Join Avenue which I thought was brilliant given the limitations presented in BW/B2W2. Please don't lump Join Avenue with that dump called Festival Plaza. But that said, I don't want a third iteration of Join Avenue in future games unless its for a remake or something.

It was an interesting idea but it felt kind of unnatural like something from a ROM hack or something (not that I don't like ROM hacks).

Wow, really? I thought Join Avenue was really useful, honestly, especially the cafe and dojo. There was a lot of useful features in there, especially the cafe and dojo. (EDIT: I just realized I said the same thing twice but I'm keeping it bc it's funny) It became really easy to rearrange EVs and grind a Pokemon up, especially since the cost didn't go up with the level like experience does. (I remember I'd grind a Pokemon up to level 80 or so, then just buy the rest of the levels and save the time it would take to battle the rest of the way up)

I felt like it was partly the contrast of Join Avenue to Festival Plaza that made the latter feel so awful. You could get any EVs you wanted out of Join Avenue on one game, while Festival Plaza would restrict you to three specific stats depending on your version. Join Avenue substituted for grinding, Festival Plaza would let you get level boosts until you got to level 90 or so, where it'd be hardest to grind. (and also barely relevant to balance, since you don't have much left in the game once you're in that range) Join Avenue would sell you PP Ups in any of its shops once you got it up high enough, Festival Plaza would only sell it to you if you had Moon/Ultra Moon. (and no buying Max Repel in bulk, either-I always found that really helpful)

Honestly, my memories of Join Avenue and Festival Plaza might have gotten mixed up a little- I think I did enjoy Join Avenue when I was playing through B2W2, I just don't remember using it very much, and when Festival Plaza came along and I didn't enjoy it at all but was reminded of Join Avenue, I just sort of assumed that they had the same issues and that the problem was that they'd done it a second time, but in a worse context.

I guess I should go back and re-explore Join Avenue again? I didn't know it was so good for EV training, or even level grinding for that matter (I didn't really try to learn about EVs and IVs until Gen 6), and I have been wanting to try and actually get through the PWT on my old White 2 copy, so its good to know that Join Avenue can help me out with training a good team for that.

Also, dear god, I knew that a lot of the stuff in Festival Plaza was kind of clunky, but I had no idea that the version exclusives went beyond clothing colors and into... what stats and specific items they let you buy? That's really ridiculous, and not remotely what anyone wants out of version exclusive content. I guess I really should pay attention to these features of the games before complaining about them, there's clearly a lot I missed.

I think that is one of the charms of Join Avenue, it's easily accessible but you need not care about it if you don't want to bother with it. It was a very subtle but fun addition to the game. If you don't use Join Avenue, it's nothing more than the connection between two cities in Unova.

Whereas Festival Plaza is shoved down your throat and you are required to visit if you just want to do something simple like use common features like trading, etc. Team Rainbow Rocket can have it if they want to take that dumpster fire over, it is not something I want to acknowledge nor be bothered with.

I will be fine with any online feature as long as the GTS gets fixed, and no, you cannot convince me that it's perfect. The current GTS system is far from perfect, it takes forever to get the Pokemon you want from a trade and you have to gamble on your luck to be able to get a trade evolution that require held items. It clearly needs a heavy revamp in order to become a reliable trading system.

The GTS is far from perfect, but it was at least manageable and accessible in XY, but GF can go spend a day in hell for what they did to it in Gen Vll. Hopefully Gen Vlll allows for some improvement to the system. The only memorable thing about GTS in Gen Vll are all the Gumshoos flying around in wonder trade with the nickname of "Donnie".

Not sure why you’re saying this? The GTS is by far one of the most criticized features in the series. No one thinks it’s perfect.
Lol, seconding this ^ because I've hardly used it and I can tell you a few things wrong with it.

Like for starters- shouldn't be able to ask for a male ditto in exchange for anything you're trading.

I haven't used the GTS all that much myself.

All I remember from it, is a lot of people asking for Mythicals, and offering you a regular Pokémon in exchange.
