They could’ve spread them out in the 120 episodes of this series instead of shoving all of them together in the last 5 or so episodes?

Or they were saving them until the end of the series since they're not featuring them exclusively in the movies anymore and they want this generation of fans to be able to see them while they can.

And they can't still do that by spreading them out why?

I don't know. Perhaps it's because Sun and Moon's style was such unexplored territory that they wanted to find their footing first. Or maybe it's because the ratings go up whenever they have a mythical Pokemon. Obviously it got us all talking about it.

Well to me it says that SM has no idea what it doing at this point.

We're at the tail end of a generation of the games, it's respective console, and the anime. It's also been three years and we're still coming off the high that was XY&Z. I think this is usually the point where fans get a little burnt out and the ratings start to slip so it's understandable that they gotta do what they can to get viewers until Sword and Shield starts.

Really because in the past at this point they try and wrap things up like story lines and goals. But I guess we can't have even that. And as for the ep I could care less about Kukui's past at this point its too late for this.

By exploring Kukui's past is sounds like they are trying to wrap things up. Plus we still have the Alolan League to look forward to.

And that would be fine if they didn't shove it at the back end of SM.
I think there might be nothing post-league and they'll do like DP (the league episodes, then 2 "bye bye alola" episodes, then Sword & Shield starts).

I'd much rather watch a time travel episode about Ash meeting his parents when they were kids. Kukui is a nice guy with a tough Pokemon; been there and done that.
