Oh yeah, I'm definitely not saying that Hugh is an example of a great character. (He's definitely still flat and one-note.) Just that I could relate to his motivations better. They should have shown more ways in which he was protective of his younger sister. He probably needed some sort of character arc too where he learned about forgiveness or something. But a deep character arc without any motivation is also stale: that's what we got with Hau.
Well, he learned about forgiveness... off-screen, judging by how he's with the ex-Plasma guys now. Maybe a remake will fix those issues. I mean, a remake gave Archie and Maxie the individuality that they needed, in the original games (and even Emerald) they were more or less palette swaps of each other. Kinda like Ryu and Ken are now individual characters instead of being the same guy but with a differend head and nationality.

Then again, that depends if they ever do a BW remake in the future, and if they add something connecting the two games.

Yeah, that felt like a total cop out. We don't really get a good reason for why he decided to change other than the realization that he couldn't change the past by saving purloin (in that sense, I felt the evolution into Liepard was important because it served as a metaphor for permanent, irreversible change). But that shouldn't have necessarily led him to working side by side with the ex-plasma people.

One thing I liked about Hugh, though, was how he fit into the themes of Black/White by playing the role of the stereo-typical hero who views the world as "Black and White". They could have done more to expand on that, though.

Bianca and Hau are my two favorite rivals.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Bianca. I haven't played Black/White in a long time, so I know there's probably details that I'm overlooking or didn't pick up on the first time I played.

I like hearing other people's interpretations of characters and what makes a character likeable to them. What helps leave an impression?

(When writing my own stories, I feel like characters are usually the most important part, so I like getting different views for how to write 'good' characters)

I really just enjoy how upbeat and supportive Bianca was despite her own problems with her father stifling her growth. Not to mention her own journey of coming to terms that battling wasn't for her and admitting it.

I'd write more but I'm super lazy.

Oh yes, in that sense I did like Bianca more that Lillie. Lillie felt really overbearing and helpless most of the game.

Edit: also, thank you, for your response.
Well, that's because Lillie more or less was. Although I do like her and understand where she's coming from, like the "I don't like battles because Pokémon get hurt" line looking kinda different on a replay, she needs to be protected at all times, and even with a Pokémon in USUM, she was useless in that battle (are you going to prevent the opponent from boosting themselves? No? Okay).

Take note, some stuff like the cursing and the insults were more so liberties overexaggerating their non belief.

I do recall seeing something earlier today someone posted. Supposedly the Galar starters are on the E3 wristbands or something like that.

So it is possible we will get something Pokémon related in the direct, as well, as the Treehouse.

The direct won't have anything, it's just a Nintendo direct and I'm sure they're wanting to spend more time on what's already been announced by other companies, Splatoon, SSB, Link's Awakening, Luigi's Mansion, and maybe Town and Animal Crossing.

The Treehouse is fair game and I'm still hoping for at least the squirrel since they have to do damage control and maybe at least another rival or gym leader.
