Yeah, I really hate the idea of Pokemon going mobile. I got bored of Pokemon GO after seeing the same Pokemon spawning over and over again, I only came back briefly but then abandoned it for good.

i tried playing it, because you know i could reeaallyy use the exercise. well, where I live they don't even spawn. :/ Same with my friend.

That previous video I showed yesterday, at least has a counter by non other than Verlisify himself.

Verlisify makes good points, but he’s forgetting that they can still restrict the Pokémon allowed in the competitive scene without having to omit them from the game’s coding.

And alright, I have just realized that I don't know what the fuck anyone is talking about when it comes to post-game content. They cut the Battle Frontier from ORAS, okay- but it had the Battle Resort instead, and Kalos had the Battle Maison and Alola had the Battle Tree. Pretty sure every game has had a battle facility since battle facilities were first introduced, so what was it about the Battle Frontier that was so great and how many of the other games actually had "good" post-game content and why? What are people expecting when it comes to post-game content?
It's fairly simple. The Emerald Battle Frontier has 7 Battle Facilities.

Its replacement in ORAS, the Battle Resort, has only 1 Battle Facility: The Battle Maison.
What it sounds like to me is that they could get away with one facility and just add options for what restrictions you want to have in place during your run? That should be simple enough, really. I don't know that it's really a thing that should require much work to do, so it is a shame that they wouldn't include it.
I’d absolutely love an all-in-one battle facility! Not only does it save Game Freak graphical resources and time, but still gives us unique challenges that you don’t see in the main games at the same time. In fact, I have actually brought up this very possibility in the post game thread.

I loved the emerald battle frontier gimmicks and it's really the main reason I liked the battle frontier...especially the one where you pick from 3 random rooms and the one where you rent the pokemon. I'm not a competitive battler; if I wanted regular battles I could've just gone to regular routes for rematches or played another game.

As for pokemon go...I enjoyed it but it does get old a bit fast, plus it's so laggy on my phone...But the main thing is that it feels more like a toy than a game. Non-mobile video games have a sort of substance mobile games don't seem to capture.

Uh as much as people are upset about the Dex issue in SwSh, I am sure there would be uproar if they stopped the traditional pokemon games or produce them crapper. When it comes to Pokemon going mobile, I will not be going with them. I am not a fan of my phone being my console.
I don't know why anyone is afraid of Pokemon going mobile- mobile couldn't handle a full-fledged main series game. It's really a non-issue.

Gonna agree. If you post a video for the love of arceus summarize it. I'm not gonna watch it because I don't feel like having my anger lit on fire by some youtuber with an annoying voice making stupid half true conjectures.
XD And I don't wanna waste 15 minutes listening to someone ramble about them.

So yeah- summaries, please! I've tried skipping to parts of the video to avoid wasting time but all I get is 3-second clips of untrue bullshit so that doesn't reflect well on the rest of the video. Or maybe it does. I'm not gonna find out.
That was actually made an ‘informal rule’/notice by the moderators for these threads, but people kept ignoring them, and I got tired of reminding people...

So here’s hoping people actually post summaries.
And if one can’t think up a decent summary its a pretty clear indication that the video wasn’t good imo.

I dont think the main series is leaving but alot of people think it may since mobile games seem to be popular with alot of profit, well unless some sort of regulation on the microtransactions happens. And the pokemon company seems to have this odd idea that no one has the time or interest for alot of games or features of games. edit that aren't quick like the mobile games.

If I'm not mistaken, we only have one popular mobile pokemon game with a lot of profit. Hardly a reason why the main series would vanish in favor of them. There's a lot they couldn't do with a mobile game, such as use the graphics that they've been working on developing these past few gens. I'm sure that their developers would hate working exclusively on mobile with mobile's limitations, because they wouldn't have the creative freedoms that they do on a console. It's not all about making a fast buck, it's about creating something that they're proud of and GO is good... but it's basic and it's not a masterpiece that a creative person would feel especially proud of.

Switch doesn't have the hardware limitations that a phone does. Switch has more opportunity for creative people to be creative, whether everyone likes their work or not. Remember that developing a game is an art.

I honestly think smartphones could be a good game platform (even for Pokémon!) ... if it wasn't for this mentality that smartphone games = casual games.

I mean smartphone games are currently very casual, but this could change in the future, if game developers realized that maybe people that don't own a dedicated gaming console, could still be interested in serious gaming via their phones.

And, Pokemon GO isn’t heavy on micro transactions in the first place. You can end up being a veteran player on there without spending a single penny in the game in a similar time frame to those who did spend their money. Even if I had money to spend on it, it’d be pretty nonsensical to spend money on it when I can just walk to hatch my eggs, or put my Pokemon in gyms to earn coins.
The level up haul was enough to sustain you till the next level up too when it comes to stuff like lures, rinse and repeat.

I don’t have any issues with mobile games at all if a similar approach is followed. In addition, mobile is more accessible to general public than consoles. Nintendo doesn’t exist in my country, and Pokemon is viewed as a children's cartoon. Only my best friends knew that I'm very interested in the franchise.
When GO came out I could officially 'come out' as a Pokemon fan without being ridiculed. It was also the first 'official' Pokemon game I played since I didn’t have a (3)DS.

I don’t see what’s wrong with games working on a similar model. So what if it makes money for the company? We're not competing with them for profits.

And as for Pokemon main games shifting on console. That’s a steaming pile of Wooloo manure. Emulators on powerful phones can barely run DS games (I've suffered too many interrupted-just-after-the-first-gym playthroughs). Let alone something of the standard of even XY.

These days it’s becoming trending to bash mobile, and blame it for all our troubles, I think. People are becoming like the "Put down you’re phone!" parents...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I hate that an adult person playing Super Mario, Angry Birds or Candy Crush is socially viewed as "normal", but Pokémon is viewed as a kids only product.

I don't even think Pokémon Go has changed that stupid notion, but it is somewhat more accepted now, at least.

Have you heard by now the controversy about Nessa? It's Steven Universe all over again with the fanart.

mobile games are generally popular and can bring it alot of profit. not just pokemon go or pokemon whatever. but yeah I don't think traditional games will leave. others seem to have that fear though.

the silph/rowlit theory about TPC trying to phase gamefreak out in favor of other media is really iffy imo.

Realistically, I think the games are the way the are because it's been nearly 2 decades and the titles have sold consistently great. In gamefreak's eyes it's probably a situation of "if it aint broke, don't fix it". We'll see a major shakeup if sales ever get alarmingly low or something. I don't think there's any conspiracy theory (eg, gamefreak doesn't want to work on pokemon anymore so they're purposely sabotaging the games, eg TPC doesn't want gamefreak working on the games anymore) that can be applied here lol.

maybe my phone is just crap, but it doesn't do well with most games. And most people seem to have more apps on their phone than I do.
My phone slows down in general or the game lags. I prefer a real console.

Let me tell you a little secret: people who constantly see offensive racist stereotypes everywhere, are usually subconsciously racist themselves.

A normal person would look at Nessa and think: "Hey, she's cute!". Or: "Hey, nice design!".

I didn't even think of her race when I saw her.
