SwSh There are petitions about Gamefreak fixing the 'Galar Pokedex' thing

gonna say it's pretty likely that the email surveys were not even composed with any intention of gauging peoples' fury over Dexit anyway. it's just some basic data collection.

Well we're going downhill now anyway. I'm open to the idea of Nintendo absorbing Pokemon, but I don't think TPCi would ever allow that.

Well do what I did and send in your displeasure on it. I mean I highly doubt Mario Maker 2's backlash about internet friends was more than this.

And before anyone says anything 'Pessemirealistically', Mario Maker 2 was hardly projected to be a light seller. It sold 4 million on the Wii U. Pokemon may be bigger, but we are not talking a massive size difference.

They were never going to reverse course and all of a sudden say, “We’ve found some time, coders and budget to do the national dex over the summer. Thanks for your feedback, petitions and hashtags to make this happen! We intend to incorporate fan ‘fury’ from social media feedback into future development.”

Still disappointed, but this is what these games are going to be and since it probably not affect sales all that much, unfortunately most likely future games too.

No one was expecting change in SwSh. At most maybe a patch, but not changes to the base game.

What we were hoping for is Game Freak to notice and understand our displeasure. They've noticed but they don't want to understand it.

....Well they better do something before they get punished for it.

If Star Wars can face severe backlash, Pokemon isn't immune to it (Battlefront 2).

There are three potential punishments: sales dissapointments, angry top executives from Nintendo coming in, and a fan doing something stupid.

The longer they don't say something, the more likely some angry fan is going to hack or dox their stuff. Or vandalize something. Or just as minor as milkshake a G.F employee.

The reality is that casual players will still buy these games, along with people who aren't aware of the changes, and people who don't mind them (which is fine). I don't expect SwSh to have unusually low sales.

.....I am sure that no casual fans were involved in the sales decline in the Star Wars, Fallout, Battlefield, Bioware in general....

I am sorry, but I am going to drag people out of Pessimreality. It is not my job to wallow around like a non voter upset that things in politics aren't going in the way they want.

I would think that they do understand it - they're well aware of how people reacted to the transfer break in Gen 3, and they keep saying this was a difficult decision that they knew would come up eventually. It's not like they gain anything by sticking to this, other than the ability to keep producing their games at what they see as a preferable pace. I think they're clearly aware that it's going to displease people, and Home is their attempt at a band-aid to keep at least some of those people on board, but ultimately, if it's a choice between retaining a relative minority of players or slowing everything down and making sweeping changes to their entire production routine to deal with an ever-compounding issue, the decision is pretty simple.

76, Battlefield 5, SW Battlefront 2, Andromeda and Anthem by extension....i am sure I can find other examples to hit people like you with the 'stop being defeatist Archeopses' stick as needed.

What was the thing with Battlefront 2 and Anthem?

That is what we call 'sales collapse', and let us not assume that there are that many people considered 'hardcore' to have that sort of effect. If we did the Wii U ports wouldn't sell as much.

I was asking about what caused the controversy, since I don't know much about those games. Also, why do you mention the Wii U (again, sincere question)

Because casual gamers don't play those games. =P They play Pokemon.

And yes, actually I am well aware that Game Freak does understand it. I'm tired right now and it's hard to articulate my thoughts. What I just mean is that the Pokemon games have been plagued by laziness, uninspired rehashes, and apparently poor programming. Then Game Freak tops it off by making an excuse they were cutting Pokemon for the sake of improved animations and graphics, which clearly isn't at all the case. I'd be fine with the culling if it weren't for that. Ideally, I would like this controversy to shake up the company so that they try a little more. Or at least pace themselves and not release two whole generations for one console. But heck, with cloud gaming on the rise, it might not even be long before consoles die too. But anyway it was those things that I ideally would like Game Freak to reconsider. I know that's not something they're going to openly admit, so I can only hope they've had that wake-up call.

Cause I've been burnt out since Sun and Moon at the very least. It's literally only because of this controversy that my interest in Pokemon has peaked again.

i mean i'm not exactly a 'defeatist' per se because i don't have that much of a problem with the transfer cutoff, but like, yeah, sometimes a negative fan outcry works. i'm not even stopping you or anyone else from trying, i'm just saying that from game freak's perspective, it's probably a simple calculus

not to mention that pokémon makes a shitload of money off its other franchise elements, so even if things were to slack on the core games' side for a year or two, it would have to be a sustained, multi-gen effort to begin to throw them off-balance, and in that time, they'll have probably gained new players to replace the ones who left anyway

making sweeping changes to their entire production routine
The sweeping changes were made for XY, be it for the models (not a concern anymore), textures (just a matter of lightning now), animations or simultaneous localization. This required a lot of outsourcing, but the games were ready within 3 years. It is still very unclear what is so much harder this time around.

...And I'll admit I am a bit steamed and not thinking straight.

1: BattleFront 2 and Anthem had a lot of developmental and design issues that the hardcore raged about, and as a result E.A was behind in sales by millions of units. Hard to say if they were more or less serious than Pokemon's, that is personal taste, but it wasn't just the hardcore who led their numbers to sink.

2: Wii U ports are considered lazy and dumb by a lot of 'hardcore' fans, but they sell surprisingly well. I was using them as a more positive example of the dissassociation between things that Battlefront and 76's sales issues did not just go into hardcore (I could have used FIFA as a negative example)

I don't know enough about the other demographics to say, but if you seriously are arguing that, I will have to get the 'stop being a pessimrealist' bat.

not that it would be impossible per se, but Pokemon would have a hard time having a sort of sales collapse simply because neither it's sales are heavily reliant on "dedicated" fans nor is there are sort of immediate alternative to Pokemon.

...a lack of RPG's on the Switch wasn't something I was aware of. I mean Persona' Switch's off in Narnia with Fable 4, but that's about it.
