SwSh There are petitions about Gamefreak fixing the 'Galar Pokedex' thing

Would honestly wish they handled the "surf" mechanic the same way Corviknight handles flying around the region. Shouldn't be that hard to have a Lapras or even Swanna carriage ferry you around at specific points.

Even something silly like hover-boarding over the water would've been better than the bike.

lowkey the bike is silly. sounds like this is one of those "want what you didn't end up with" situation. i can't imagine the concept of like a "Lapras Ferry" would work nearly as well as the Corviknight Taxi either.
There's always that theory that in a pokemon game where you have tons of pokemon, there's really no reason for a taxi or a surfing bike when you can you use one of your pokemon and have a better experience. But hey...

yeah but unless they come back as HMs, they won't be doing that so......
6 HMs/actions (Surf, Fly, Strenght, Waterfall, Sub, Rockclimb). The professor invented a device that allows you to teleport a pokemon from the box at need. You select 6 pokemon that are able to performe those actions (even if they don't know those moves). Do you need to surf? "The water looks beautiful. Do you want to bring Lapras from the box?". You teleport Lapras. You surf on Lapras. It's basically pokeride but with an explanation. Is it really more incredible to believe than a surfing bike possessed by a ghost pokemon?

What you don't take in consideration is that those who you are asking to boycott the games are not Tpci target audience. I mean, isn't It obvious that they are desperately trying to appeal to a new and younger audience?
They want kids, because at the TPCi they are the first ones to think pokemon is for kids. This is why most of the features that old fans want are being cut from the games, this is because the games are easier year after year, this is why having 900 pokemon in a game is a problem, this is why competitive player after 23 years still have to restart the game any time in a new season they need a legend with a different nature.
Kids don't care about graphics, models, protests or hashtags. They want a handheld console to catch pokemon and battle friends. And this is what GF is delivering...

Also, kids probably don't watch Direct and follow social media so they may not know they won't be able to transfer their beloved monsters to SS.

Yeah, it would be nice to have the possibility between using the bike or using a Pokémon, even if said Pokémon was just a shadow like the old games.
I have the feeling that the old Fly is still in the games. Corvinight taxi is useful till you get to actually fly, cause we know those taxies are only found in cities (it's not really like pokeride because we saw the man with the taxi in the overworld) and I really hope GF doesn't pretend we go back to a city every time we need to fly somewhere. So I think that early in the game you will use the taxi but at some point your bike will clearly get an hot air baloon attached to it (joking apart, I hope they find a way to fly with a pokemon even if it's just a cutscene).

unless LGPE ran off of the same engine as SM. from what they've said about it, the problems sounds more tied to the engine used than the console itself.
"Now that we are moving to the Nintendo Switch and remaking the models from scratch, we had to make some kind of choice."

Taken at face value, he was talking about the Switch in general. If you interpret that as something else, "from scratch" could go out the window and who knows what that would leave us with. It's weird that this was only mentioned the one time no English translator was around them.

Why not though? Is it really hard to imagine Lapras waiting to ferry humans across the water at specific points? Especially when their actually lore states that's exactly what they like to do.

So because they may have expected it (we can’t possibly know what their projections were), people shouldn’t bother expressing their dislike of the decision with boycotts etc.? Wouldn’t that be worse? If the games sold just the same or only very slightly worse than normal, that would send the message that this isn’t something people care about which would give them the green light to do it more or make no effort to rectify or mitigate it.

Wouldn't the increased price make up for the lower sales?

Depends. A lot of people spending $0 instead of $40 would definitely make a dent in a lot of people spending $60 instead of $40. However, this is Pokémon. No matter what, a boycott would have to be massive to make any sort of difference. We know Sword and Shield are still going to have huge sales.

To a point it could, but my one economic class in college (it was a side part of my major, early tenure thing) taught me anything, it is at some point you plateau at a peak point of profit in the balance of cost and people buying it.

Why do I keep need to reminding people of this: just because there will be profit doesn't be the effect would not be felt. To us earning....I don't know 700 million instead of 800 million isn't so much, but to companies that is noticeable. Game Freak isn't also the only part of this chain, so a noticeable effect on things like switch software/hardware sold or merchandise sold will cause the other two parts of our pie: Nintendo and Creatures, to take notice.
