SwSh Dexit and the DLC

I dunno if this was brought up, but the SwSh beta leaked, and in it, they had the data of Greninja and Arbok, two Pokémon that did not make the cut. It seems Dexit was decided later down the line, and they genuinely had issues handling the models alongside Dynamax and camp animations. There is a very good chance that Dexit was unintentional and accidental; the DLC was probably an attempt to salvage as much as possible. There might be a good chance that Dexit was a one time only; there’s a thread on Smogon if people want to read more.

I think it’s more likely that this points to them not knowing which Pokémon were going to be cut yet, rather than them not know if Pokémon were going to be cut yet.

This.

Dexit was completely intentional, and anyone saying it's a one time only thing is setting themselves up for disappointment.

The DLC was obviously planned in advance. Game Freak are not some amateurs that make last minute decisions lol. They plan things in advance, and they probably planned Dexit together with TPCi and Nintendo, too.

Yeah. I also don't expect any more main series games with all the Pokemon in them.

I mean, the spin-offs have shown that this tends to happen, like Growlithe and Moltres in Conquest, Ekans in Snap, Jumpluff in Ranger, and Munchlax in PMD.

Anyone who is expecting a future game with all Pokemon in it, is setting himself up for disappointment.

Well, not a disappointment for me personally. I like Dexit. It forces us to experiment with using Pokemon we otherwise maybe wouldn't use.

Even if Sinnoh remakes end up being made, I don't expect them to contain every Pokemon available in Sword and Shield. From now on, all main series Pokemon games will have a different pool of available Pokemon to use.

Exactly this.

And yes, I do expect Sinnoh remakes next. But they won't have all SwSh Pokemon coded in them.

I disagree.

If Go can have all the Pokémon in it, so can gen 8. Besides, if DP remakes happen, only a few dozen still need to return.

Patches and DLC's should be a huge part of the future. There's big money in it. Anyway, we'll see next year.

Except that they made it clear that there will never be a main series game with all Pokemon ever again. It would make Dexit and the DLC pointless.

But then the DLC happened. So, I believe this in the context of game-launches.

Besides, I still expect compatibility, but you can only battle and trade with Pokemon available in both games. Sure, it will be limited, but it will be better than nothing.
That would be nonsensical for same-generation titles, because of the coding. We've had that discussion before. Cross-gen? That's obviously a harder job and more believable.

I believe Dexit is going to end once the DP remakes come out. The remaining missing Pokemon could be a clue to the remakes because most are from Sinnoh. There was blacklash when Ruby and Sapphire was first released because the games had missing Pokemon. This was later solved when FireRed/LeafGreen and Emerald came out that brought back all the Pokemon.

I would say that Sword and Shield was the Ruby and Sapphire of 3D Pokemon games.

Thanks to Dexit this is a decent possibility. And besides, there's no guarantee at all that the 2021 main series games will include all the missing Pokemon.

Only 63 Gen 5-7 Pokémon are missing. That's too few to leave out entirely.

If all Gen 1-3 Pokémon are added, obviously.

@Ace Trainer D That would be very odd, as again, they run on a big part of the same code and structures because they're same-gen. Backwards compatibility has always been a thing in same-generation games.

I think all Pokémon being included in the hypothetically upcoming Sinnoh remakes, is a goal that some fans have, but not a goal that Game Freak has at all.

They will just include whatever Pokemon they see fit.

They didn't like Dexit either. They have enough reasons to try to include all of them, eventually and within time.
