That's hyperbolic, if you ask me. Goh is far from being a perfect character.
I agree, but at the same time it does feel like nothing exceptionally challenging has gotten in his way YET. I don't hate Goh at all, but it would be nice if he took a few more 'L's (the type that hurts).

But it's normal because they're minor characters at best.

That's not actually true. Even minor characters get some semblance of personality or impact, no matter which story you read or which show/anime you watch. These pokemon, though they could be used to help Goh reach his goal towards Mew are not always given a major impact. Goh caught all the bug type pokemon in Kanto in one episode, yet he struggles to catch a Dewgong in another. This is as inconsistent as Pikachu, in all honesty. Honestly, the only "minor character" pokemon of Goh's that I can think of with a lot of personality is Raichu.

Well, I said "at best," and some of them pretty clear personalities.

Those bug pokémon sans Scyther and Venonat were pretty weak. And Dewgong incident happened in a very unlucky day for Gou.

Still, I have to suspend my belief in order to absorb the fact that Goh caught all those pokemon within the span of less than a day in one episode. Do you really believe that none of those pokemon fought back even a little? Tried to run away? It's hard to get invested in his goal because half the time it just doesn't work.

You know, if Sobble is evolving, let's hope they don't go with the same exact approach they did for Raboot. I just wanna see some sort of actual challenge for Goh when it comes to Drizzile.
On that subject, anyone notice how in the preview they were in some kind of dark area? It made me think of a temple for some reason. Maybe they travel somewhere which causes Sobble to evolve or something...? But then why might he be considered sad...?

Maybe it's the same forest from the Ponyta episode?

Well, Venonat and Scyther actually fought back. Pinsir too revealed to be a pokémon with very timid personality. Rest of them were probably too weak as I said.

It feels a little odd that they would go back there, though and have it not be a Chloe-focused episode. Hm, what if its some place that has some kind of symbolism in regards to evolution? Like the Hidden Garden from Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden in the OS series.

Here’s hoping Cinderace has something to do with this episode, cause of its phase with Raboot.
If not, this premise seems really like deja-vu, especially when we’ve had Raboot, Excadrill, Charizard, Dragonite, Mamoswine, Buziel (Sort Of), and at least some of those had different reasonings for their apparent disinterest, making them interesting.
If they really haven’t got a good point to get across with this, like including Cinderace, then what’s the point? This series, in my opinion, has gotten extremely lazy in the writing department, and boring as well. I sincerely hope they can prove me wrong.

Yep. Sobble evolved.

Hmm...Galar starters, one fully evolved, one on the mid stage, one on the first stage. Perfectly balanced as it should be.

So, as a preview, they showed what everyone was wondering about, whether it was Goh’s, or not?
