The dog is okay. It's cute but I agree that the candle could have been introduced more naturally. It suspiciously looks like Commondomon, one of the most popular Digimon from the last two years. And as the owner of an old dog I feel somewhat perturbed by it, I hope the theory that is Scarlet exclusive is real.

Now about Paldea not feeling like Spain the reasons are pretty simple: 1. Neither the three paths, the evil team or the Terastal phenomenon are related in any way to Spain directly, and honestly could have happened everywhere else. and 2. Except for maybe the first trailer, the trailers have been focused on the open world and the routes, so we haven gotten much regarding cities.

This is my current predictions on version exclusives:

Scarlet
Pikachu line
Murkrow line
Dunsparce line
Larvitar line
Stonjourner
Greavard line
Armarouge (technically)
Koraidon
All past Paradox Pokemon

Violet
Eevee line
Misdreavus line
Girafarig line
Salamence line
Eiscue
Unknown Dark-type dog line
Ceruledge (technically)
Miraidon
All future Paradox Pokemon

Considering Clauncher is confirmed, it most likely is also a VE together with Skrelp.

Eevee and Pikachu being version exclusive is not plausible at all. They never have been version exclusives and they're not about to make them version exclusives. Dark type dog I can believe though.

I think this pic alone shows it'll be in Violet as well. So I don't think it's an exclusive

I mean, GF is all about stereotypes when making a region. Do you remember the people in Alola or in Kalos? They were all beach and fashion. In Paldea, they are just random people that have nothing "spanish" in them. I feel like all the "spanish" of this region is in the main city. Apart from that, It looks like a random European region shaped like Spain.
Tbh, Spain doesn't have a lot of stereotypes outside of tomatoes, dancing, and bulls. I doubt they'd go as far as to make a region full of tomato loving conquistadors, bull fighters, and flamenco dancers.

With the architecture, character designs, and the nature of the school Paldea feels more Japanese than Spanish. Hardly anything screams "Spain" about the region.

Btw, do we have some hint for temporal forms being all version exclusive or are people just assuming? I mean, I guess it makes sense. At the same time, in terms of lore, it might feel weird to each version to have only one kind of, at least from what people are speculating the story/these forms to be about.

Half of Spain is caucasian. I don't know how they'd look more Spanish unless they somehow became Mexican or another country Spain colonized.

And the architecture in Mesagoza is very Spanish.

In the grand scheme of things, I do agree from what we have seen so far the game doesn't scream Spain as much as its predecessors did for its inspirations. But yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with architecture. On character design department, I think the use of uniforms and the school delinquent trope are things that have a bit of a Japanese feel to them, other than that seems fine.

On another topic, I do wonder why this time around they decide to announce it on Monday and reveal on Tuesday, specially when they could have done it a little closer to halloween. Not to get anyone's hopes up, don't read too much into it, I just found it curious.

we haven’t really seen that much of the actual region yet
The problem is that GF is not helping, considering they keep creating large lands full of nothing but trees (with bad textures). So, all there is of Spanish in this region is in the cities. And from the reviews, we know that in the first village before the grass gym city there's not a single house you can enter in.

Perhaps that is all just for the previews?

I was just thinking that it's really interesting that this gen has so many new bird Pokemon but we've yet to have any of them revealed.

I guess I could say the same for the bugs but I don't think they revealed any bugs last gen either.

Speaking of that. It strikes me that all the vast valleys and forests outside of the cities and there's barely any landmarks, special dungeony buildings (like old mansion).

It just feels like endless land just to capture Pokemon and everything relating to exploration is heavily tied to the three stories, which is fun the first time, but gets boring and loses replay value later on.

Maybe there are landmarks, they just have not been shown yet.

Why do they need to create an interior for every house? There have been houses we couldn't enter in past game. This is not new.
They don't have to create an interior for every house. However, if I see a huge city and 90% of this city is made of placeholder houses you cannot enter, what I'm actually seeing is the beautiful poster of the Ultra Megalopolis promising an entire new city when there's just a straight short route with a tower. They have to learn that they don't have to make things big just because big is better. If there's nothing to visit in a city it is better to just put three houses together and call it a village, at least no one will be disappointed and you'll have done a honest work.

Can't argue with that...
