  • IKR? Those bast*rds! Then Goku goes to high school, he's more interested in Chi Chi's "Chi-Chi(s)" than fighting, he loves to go to parties and is scared of teh cool kids, and Kamehameha(s) directly to the chest can bring people back to LIFE! The crap that is Dragonball: Evolution knows no bounds!

*Takes Vaseline and storms the studio that created that monstrosity of a film.*

Did you know that Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragonball, was so shocked watching it that he said to treat it as an alternate dimension to his universe! LMAO.

It's a pretty awesome Pokemon: definitely one of my favorites from Gen I.
Hi there: just wanted to say I agree with your thoughts on Pokemon's anime: it's sad to see it like this.

Oh god, Dragonball: Evolution was a pile of epic fail: I remember that film...they even messed up Grandpa Gohan's backstory, and he was like the best part of the film. xD.

    Me too: that was awesome!
"Pokemon is a disaster, i detest to see my infancy and its potential being torn apart between consumerism and chauvinist ideas. I often feel the need to find out what is going on in their heads, why do they do this, etc."

I feel the exact same way. I still love Dragonball, Yu-Gi-Oh, but the same can't be said about this series.
Back than anime cared not just about marketing but quality development making it feel like story and characters are going somewhere, it cared about past and previous characters maintaining connection with them making wokld feel more closer and filled with stable storyline which builds on itself adding to credibility of Ash and other character growth while respecting past.

I guess writers and producers of this anime don't realize in slightest how their approach only alienate people away, reflect badly on show reputation and contributes in drop of popularity. In order to have healthy successful franchise which can attract all kind of people toward it, have continuity based story filled with quality and interesting twists its desirable to innovate and keep those which helped build series plot and popularity relevant(this case previous companions) making people stay interested in anime and spread popularity to wider group of fans rejuvenating their interest.

Key to success is in not constantly replacing everything and everyone. But in making foundations on which you can set up predispositions to create long lasting impact on audience, develop devotedness among viewers and ensure stable ratings in longer run.
And with reuse of older characters having stable cast you can accomplish that since through continuation of their stories you make viewers start investing more into their favorites growing attached to them ensuring that they stay hooked on show to see in what new directions character will be taken and in what way things are going to end.
Naruto, One Piece, DBZ, Fullmetal Alchemist just to name few) are having integral and constant cast which builds on relationshiop and their stories and are in return much better accepted than current mess pokemon series became.Which has its viewers become attached to their characters feeling like they are growing with them through course of anime not being bored, but excited of being done more with those they care about.
Yeah I mean I actually don't mind May and Dawn, I just wish the core three was still the main part of the show. I mean, Best Wishes and XY doesn't even feel like the Pokemon show we grew up with anymore. They might as well ended Ash's Story if they're gonna keep adding new faces that we can't connect to. I always think that once Ash feel like he proven him self as a trainer he'll move to Cerulean City and help Misty run her gym.
Regarding Misty rest assured how she has good bunch of haters too which try to decry her importance on every opportunity they have and deem her as useless character for who no one cared. But their views hardly represent consensus with small glimpse around internet and various places like deviantart, facebook, youtube, tumblr or forums like bulbagarden etc displaying true impact she left with archived threads containing lot of debates, complaints and arguing over whether Misty should comeback or not dividing fandom literally(ones which want and would hate to see her back contributing to lot of flamewars and bashing at times). Naturally nowadays you wont see many people talk about Misty primarily because by this point many which sticked accepted what happened ending discouraged to talk about it due to years of being let down by writers, or because of leaving such places but demand for character is still around there just more subdued.

Regarding cast replacing it was never necessary to begin with.
Its shame to see in what Pokemon is turned into compared to many other anime like One Piece,Naruto, DBZ etc,etc which dont replace their main characters at all with writers gradually improving them opening new subplots when one part of story is over making them connected between themselves forming one large picture(bigger quest they need to accomplish). Keeping series filled with continuity and presence of previous friends giving audience opportunity to follow their favorites grow, advance forward and deal with issues in different stages of life becoming enriched with new skills treated like commrades which overcome obstacles together. While pokemon in comparison has destroyed continuity, abandoned previous characters like trash with unfinished stories devaluing their impact and influence they left on Ash life and pokemon history like it was for nothing accompanied with shallow plot and development which never goes anywhere.
Definitely, Misty departure marked end of pokemon for many, many people out there. None of other character departures ever caused such massive backlash followed with various complaints, petitions and notable demand from fans all over the world asking writers to bring her back. In interview with mr. Hidaka from 2008(ex pokemon director)one of fans even mentioned how many fans want her back reuniting original trio again but he just laughed claiming how it wont happen because they like to change gorls to give new piece of eye candy to young boys with each new generation.
Such words never came from writers though, but way Misty has been ignored and abandoned for years doesn't give much hope of reconsidering and changing their approach(nothing is impoosible, som small ray of hope i still burning).Personally i can understand and fully agree withmindset from people who find pokemon quality went downhill in some segments after Misty left cast losing on its comedy, quality dynamic and adventurous feeling. Since she brought sense of identity perfectly balancing out group chemistry making things more zealous and flaunting with her colorful personality. And getting rod of one of most appealing and complex characters this show had with fantastic potential(which sadly got unused)only diminished enterainment value for some people out there.
Along with leading to unstable cast, inconsiustent story which is scattered all over the place stagnating and having little to no connections to past sagas and companions. Something which wasn't the case when Misty was around having quality based tale which is upgraded and continued upon with writers taking friendship, relationship betweeen companions and plot in new directions making it like one bigt entity where characters are vital and irreplaceable to storyline adding for meaningful and memorable impact.
No thank you for liking my posts and accepting to be friends. Its always nice to meet fellow fan of older series, unique, memorable characters like Misty or Gary recognizing their depth and identity their strong presence brought to show. Especially Misty which while never fleshed out enough having higgly expressive nature, lot of personality and unique aspects around character bringing to anime charm and emotion which was lost on large part ever since she was unjustifyingly removed.
