I'm betting that the thundershock pikachu is the one that is paired with the flying pikachu. Right now, I get thundershock pikachus on the path (not the flail pikachus), so I'm staying out on the path and not returning until I see a two exclamation mark poke or higher to confirm my bet.

I'm having trouble with the flyng pikachu as well. I'm fairly certain I've walked enough steps on the Yellow Forest path, but I keep getting one exclamation mark pokes or flail pikachu.
I decided to start EV training all my pokes so that I could do a better job in the battle frontiers and whatnot. Also, I want to see how well I do against Red with EV trained pokes just under or near his level.
I'm using all shinies in HG this time, so I pretty much have to start from scratch and level them all up.

And not overly. There are a few shows I am especially fond of.
Pokemon, Digimon, Weiss Kreuz, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing.
More recent, One Piece and Naruto, dotHack and FuriKuri. ^^
That is mostly it, though I do enjoy watching the occasional random note that is playing.
