Dub Voice Actor Guesses/Discussion

This week's episode features Jon Seltzer.

He's based in LA and from the looks of it, Jon's main source of work is voicing for commercials (the likes of which includes for McDonald's, Amazon and NBC) and narration (for the History Channel, Travel Channel and PBS) but he does have Yu-Gi-Oh also listed on his site's resume so maybe he's also in SEVENS.

Did people really not think the Arceus specials would be dubbed?

It brings back Dawn, Brock, and Cynthia...as well as the Galactic commanders, somewhat advertises the game, and is focused on legendaries like Arceus, Heatran and the Lake trio. It's literally more important than the Dialga/Palkia 2-parter that aired in the main series.

To be fair, they've skipped multiple specials featuring important events before like Dawn's Cyndaquil evolving and Iris getting her Gible. I figured that there was a pretty good chance that the Legends Arceus special would be dubbed since it does tie in with the most recent main series title, but I can't really blame people for assuming the worst given TPCI's track record when it comes to specials.

If anything, just like the Mega Evolution specials form XY, it's genuinely surprising they would dub them. Like I'm a dub-only watcher and even then I was like 50/50 if they were going to localize them. I just realized they dubbed the Legend of XYZ as a main series episode, whereas that was a special in Japan.

The difference is as mentioned above like the Mega Evolution specials of XY, these were promoted as part of the main series and not just random specials that take place after a series ends.

Most of those random specials were still pretty important though. There was no reason to skip them when they advanced the storylines for former traveling companions, gave some of them new Pokemon and had Brock's first appearance since leaving the cast. TPCI could have easily dubbed them, but chose not to, most likely because they didn't feature new Pokemon or Pokemon that hadn't already been featured in the main series. People weren't even sure that the Mega Evolution specials would be dubbed given their track record. The Arceus tying in with the newest main series title definitely made it more plausible for them to dub it, but like I said before, I can understand why people were still unsure about whether or not TPCI would dub it. They've had no problem with skipping over important events in other specials before.

I wonder if the Arceus specials will be a Netflix exclusive or they'll eventually get a Pokémon TV release too, not to mention what about non-US TV networks like Teletoon. Hopefully they won't be forgotten in a couple of years and completely vanish like what happened to the ME specials.

Bit to unpack today:

Sean Schemmel voices the Troupe Leader and both Amber Lee Connors and Elliot Gindi voice Harmony and Billy. Howard Wang is also in the episode. They are both are in an IRL relationship and have done plenty of work for Sound Cadence.

Elliot is a NY based VA who most notably has joined Genshin Impact as Tighnari.

Barrett Leddy also appears and it seems that Ren's new VA is none other than Barrett himself.

Sad news everyone, Billy Kametz wasn't credited in JN098 so has likely been replaced as Ren. Based on a clip I heard, Mike Liscio (unconfirmed at present) may be voicing him now

I feel like Mike Liscio is perfect for the role of Ren, since he also voices Clemont who is another geeky/quirky scientist. Hopefully he doesn't sound too much like Clemont (haven't watched the episode yet).

I believe this episode also features a Litleo so it's safe to assume that he also voiced it.

Sean schemmel is still in the dub, but he goes uncredited? Likely a union issue?
