Game I stole from elsewhere.

Essentialy, you go to http://maps.google.com/ ; chose "sattelite", and find the map of a relatively famous location.

Then you post it here, and others have, looking only at the satelite overhead of the location, to guess what location it is.

Once someone has guessed correct, it's their turn to post a map.

My opening screen, thematic enough...

It looks like a caldera. I'll take a guess: Mt. Vesuvius?

Noper.

Right type of geological feature (ie, volcano), very much the wrong volcano though.

Nope either.

C'mon guy. This is an EASY volcano :-D.

As in, it must be in the top-three of the world's most famous volcanoes.

Mt. Saint Helens?

I would have to agree, with one side kinda missing all the green and everything, looks like it might have been blown away. Helens is my guess too.

Gah.

I mean, the damn thing's almost a national symbol of its country :p

Indeed :-D (or, as the popular mistranslation has it, Fuji-yama)

Your turn to post, Murg

I saw that one elsewhere, so I'll abstain from answering :-D.

First guess: Hoover Dam.

Second guess: White Sands, New Mexico.

I will say, though, it is along the lines of a *legendary* landmark. Mythical, even.

In most senses of both words, or close.
