The preview makes the episode look like a watered down version of the Lugia raid battle. Maybe it's just the poor animation quality.

Also, does anyone find it funny that the Rhydon took the Thunder(bolt/shock) to the horn?

That's just the original series being weird. I think it's pretty obvious that Lightning Rod is at play here.

I think this Rhydon has Lightning Rod. Thats why the horn didn't get affected.

True, but then again, the TRio and twerps haven't worked together like this in awhile, now have they? In fact, I can't recall a single time in SM when such a thing happened. Not only that, but the Pokemon they got from the Gatchat -- Stunfisk and Rhydon -- look to be quite helpful in fighting Zapdos, meaning that TRio is actually contributing! Thus, I personally have no problem with this.

Urgh, people still talking about “Aim for the Horn” after Lightningrod has been Rhydon’s ability for about 20 years and a Rhydon with Lightningrod was already featured during DP.

The original series had some silly stuff, get over it.
