And if it doesn't work they appear in cameos where they're watching in Semifinals then in final battles we want Ash's old friends to appear to all of them.

With the shot when Ash and his team are looking like they are going to wreck Cynthia. I know it’s Cynthia and Garchomp is going to be a problem but I want Ash to come out guns ablazing and have control on the battle nonstop.
Well from the info the magazine gave, it’s definitely not gonna be Ash in control nonstop. From what it says about the battle, Cynthia is gonna give him a hard time.

Which I don’t like Ash struggling
Personally, I’m all for Cynthia posing a major challenge to Ash. Not only is she currently the number 2 of the PWC, but it’s realistic for her to be a tough opponent for him. Plus, things become boring when you have a protagonist who isn’t challenged, a reason why the PWC, for being this huge world tournament, has been pretty boring in execution.

Ash has struggled in pretty much every single major battle since Bea (3) and most of the time has relied on a gimmick to win or to get out of trouble which comes out as cheap.
The only time in the PWC that Ash really struggled was when it came to Bea. Sure, he started using gimmicks once he got to the Hyper class but that hardly came out of struggling in the battle. If anything, his PWC battles didn’t really present any more struggles for him than any gym battle from a previous series.

As she should. This is Cynthia we're talking about here.

(BTW, anyone else think this episode, JN123, will be the 2nd part of the Leon-Diantha battle?)

Vs Drasna- basically loosing the whole time and getting outplayed
Vs Raihan- Gengar is being thrashed until it GMaxes
Vs Steven- Things look hopeless for Ash when he is down to Pikachu against Cradily, Gengar struggles against Cradily, Dracovish gets 2HKOed, Pika is being thrashed by Mega Metagross and uses the Nuke to win

Vs Drasna was one of the worst battles, in which Ash’s Pokémon took hit after hit before bullhaxing a win despite barely putting up much damage beforehand. Both Pokémon got a win in that battle and it came down to a 1 v 1. Sans the bullhax, that’s just a regular battle.

Vs Raihan forced Ash to change up the strategy he was originally planning by replacing Mega Evolution with G-Max, but it wasn’t a struggle for him. Hell, the battle literally ended with his base Lucario beating a G-Max Duraludan.

Vs Steven was literally them trading KOs. Dracovish lost but then Aggron was beaten by Gengar. Gengar then lost to Cradily but not before weakening it enough for Pikachu to beat it relatively fast. At that point, it came down to a battle of gimmicks with Mega Evolution vs Z-Move.

Ash struggling implies that his opponent is holding control of the battle, in a way that puts them at advantage. Like back in the Sinnoh League when Paul brought out Drapion and it was knocking out Ash’s Pokémon left and right until Gliscor took it down. None of those battles presented a struggle for Ash.

He was struggeling there, Ash wouldnt let Gengar lose because he thought it will be the end of the road. Raihan was winning there. It is not like he got smashed at the end, but he got smashed in the mid. For me, its not a classic creative Ash to get out of bad situations and get control, it is Ash who got stressed Gmax of no choise. It is not the same thing.

Against Steven he had a close one even though Cradily got a good moveset. For me its not a struggle, just a good battle. But look in compare with Raihan's - he didn't use Gmax in that moment Gengar got vined up, he was able to think of another way, and it turned out to be a good match overall.

Any new information on whether JN123 will be the second part of Diantha vs. Leon?
If not and if that battle will really be a 6v6, then it'll probably be the most unworthy, most rushed and most terrible battle ever... God forbid!

I'm still 99% sure JN123 is the second part of Diantha vs. Leon simply because the name feels more related to Gardevoir than anything else.
