Magnezone-EX, Charizard-EX, Blacksmith announced for Flashfire: Prerelease tournaments ...

Three new cards have been announced for the Flashfire expansion. Charizard-EX (12/106), Magnezone-EX (35/106), and Blacksmith (88/106) will be released within this May 7 expansion. Prerelease tournaments for the set begin April 26, and run for two weekends until May 4.

Re: Magnezone-EX, Charizard-EX, Blacksmith announced for Flashfire: Prerelease tourna

As a standalone card, Charizard-EX seems rather standard for EXs. Combustion Blast can KO a lot of popular EXs with a Muscle Band, and the side effect isn't very nasty (Keldeo-EX + Float Stone gets around it entirely). All-in-all, Charizard-EX is solid, but not great. At least it can Mega Evolve, right?

Magnezone-EX is just flat-out underwhelming. Electro Ball's 40 for a DCE is kinda weak, especially compared to other "DCE attacks", such as Mewtwo-EX's X Ball. Dual Bullet seems nice for targeting down wounded 'mons on the Bench (as long as Mr. Mime isn't in play), but three Lightning Energy is so demanding these days. If only we still had Eelektrik...

Despite being a Supporter (and therefore taking up your Supporter slot for the turn), Blacksmith seems like a pretty cool card for decks featuring Fire-type attackers: M-Charizard(Y)-EX is a personal favorite of mine. It's a decent way to accelerate Energy and compensate for a Fire deck's tendency to throw Fire Energy into the discard pile.
