As fascinated and excited I am by this news and theory, I read another realted article where the editor stated that although the theory is somewhat solid, the reliance on the undiscovered "exotic material" (most likely dark or anti-matter) for fuel makes it further off in our civilization's lifetime than most realize. But if anybody wants to prove me wrong, I'd be more than happy to hear! Heck, I'd be one of the first ones on that sign-up list for travel to colonize a new planet, ha.

I'm immediately cautious of anything that claims FTL travel, and especially ones that purposely draw parallels to Star Trek. The articles linked do a lot of hand waving to make this seem like a reality within our lifetimes (it's not). I'm more skeptical about this article than otherwise.
