NASA is making a real starship enterprise

As fascinated and excited I am by this news and theory, I read another realted article where the editor stated that although the theory is somewhat solid, the reliance on the undiscovered "exotic material" (most likely dark or anti-matter) for fuel makes it further off in our civilization's lifetime than most realize. :( But if anybody wants to prove me wrong, I'd be more than happy to hear! Heck, I'd be one of the first ones on that sign-up list for travel to colonize a new planet, ha.

I'm immediately cautious of anything that claims FTL travel, and especially ones that purposely draw parallels to Star Trek. The articles linked do a lot of hand waving to make this seem like a reality within our lifetimes (it's not). I'm more skeptical about this article than otherwise.
