@all those who say that ash cannot capture Litten due to the 'cat/dog' tradition...

Well XY(Z) broke many traditions
1. Ash never had a water type evolve, save for krabby, but Froakie evolved, TWICE, and had enough in it to practically RULE XY(Z).
2. Well, we couldn't imagine Ash with a evolved pseudo legend, and he's got a fully evolved pseudo legend by the name of goodra.
3. We never thought that Ash could get dragon types (Gible was the only one so far, I think), and see, he's got 2 fully evolved dragons.
4. Ash ALWAYS captured the grass starter. What happened? No. I'm fact, Ash didn't even fill his grassy slot.
5. There was literally a rule that ash can have only one flying type (at most, 2, it only happened once or twice, for a very short time, the brief spans that Noctowl and Charizard were both in party among others)

Well, even Best Wishes broke a tradition, that Ash never cycled his Pokemon, which was overturned there.


So I guess they could go with their tradition-breaking here too. By the way, Ash has never got solely the fire starter before. It could steal a few episodes in trying to develop Ash and Litten's relation, as Litten is known to hide his/her emotions
 
If Ash actually gets a Litten, please writers, just PLEASE don't have Litten belong to a horrible trainer or almost get captured by a horrible trainer. We've had Charmander was abandoned and left out in the rain, Cyndaquil who avoided a complete jerk, Chimchar who was emotionally abused and rudely released, and Tepig who was abandoned and tied up. Its time they broke this trend as well, if Ash does get Litten.
 
I think that Litten, and Rowlet BOTH could be captured by ash, and evolved to their final forms (like Sinnoh, as XY did with Greninja like Sceptile Hoenn), and Rockruff could go to the rival, and be made into a Rival for Litten

Just wait, we could get an abandoned Rowlet instead. I wouldn't be surprised.

I like Popplio, I just can't see Ash with something that evolves into a fairy looking mermaid. If it would keep it's seel like appearance, then I'd say he'd capture that + another starter.
 
I think Ash would get Rowlet. Popplio seems like a female companion pokemon in my opinion. Litten could go to the male companion.

We haven't seen Popplio's evolutions. If Ash only captures one of the starters, then I kind of hope it's Rowlet.
 
Part of me would be alright with Ash catching Rowlet only since the Grass type hasn't had much time to shine since AG. Infernape took the spotlight from Torterra and Pignite kinda got a little more attention than Snivy and Oshawott did, or at least slightly better treatment. Greninja got all the spotlight in the XY series, so maybe it would be nice to give the Grass type some spotlight. Also, if he catches Rowlet, I hope they break the regional bird trend. We don't need another team with 3 Flying types.

I'd rather that Ash captures ONLY Litten for a change or, he captures both Litten and Rowlet, and they both evolve, like in Johto/Sinnoh.

Cat pokemon are not really Ash's type of pokemon in my opinion. Nothing wrong with getting a solo grass starter again.

I have to agree. The overabundance of Flying types on Ash's current team just feel meh. I know some people like it, but I would prefer more variety. Noivern, especially having Goodra back, feels like the most extraneous, being two types repeated.

Ash had Lapras and Squirtle simultaneously before, as well as Charizard and Pidgeot, and Chikorita and Bulbasaur. Being duplicative isn't really anything knew for him in all honesty. Even though he's a flying type, I don't consider Hawlucha as much of a flying type like Noivern and Talonflame.

Doesn't change the fact that he is a Flying type. I barely consider Bulbasaur to be a Poison type but the facts are out there. Two is fine, but three is half a team. You're basically a type specialist at that point.

Yep. Whether or not their primary or usually-thought-of type is different, if someone has a bunch of Pokémon with the same type(s) they're a specialist.
 
OK so several Kanto Pokemon have Aloha forms, interesting

Exeggutor is Grass/Dragon with the ability Frisk
Vulpix and Ninetales are Ice and Ice/Fairy with the ability Snow Cloak
Sandshrew and Sandslash are Ice/Steel with the ability Snow Cloak

Would be nice to see Ash catch one of these forms
