Pokemon of the Week (POTW)

POTW: Shows & Reads (Issue #19)
  • Welcome to Shows & Reads! My name is Unovia, and it is nice to have you here. This week, we are discussing Budew, Roselia, & Roserade. In the Anime, all three were major Pokemon for the Sinnoh character Nando. Nando was introduced with Budew, first appearing in DP004, the same episode it evolved into Roselia. Roselia evolved to Roserade, prior to DP176, prior to the Sinnoh Grand Festival. Another Roserade was in the team of Gardenia, appearing on DP037. There were also 2 other Roserades. One of which was with the Hoenn character Drew, and the other was with another Sinnoh character Barry. In the Manga, Roselia was seen with Wally, and Roserade was seen with Gardenia, same as the anime and games. That is it for this week!

Article #47-Learning How To Sew With Leavanny
  • Greetings trainers! This is Amy, here in Unova to celebrate Sewing Day. I don’t know the first thing about sewing, but Dan asked me to go to Unova this week. I saw his Tirtouga when he came back to the Villa in Sinnoh. I fell in love with the little turtle, so when I was asked to go to Unova, I jumped at the chance. Flying into Castelia City, I was stunned at the expansive size of the city. This is no surprise, given that this is the largest city geographically in the Region.

Stopping in the Pokemon Center to get my bearings from the sprawling city, I asked Nurse Joy the easiest way to find and catch a Sewaddle, the Pokemon family for the week. She showed me a map of the city, pointing toward a gate to the east. “This is the gate to Skyarrow Bridge, the main transportation out of town. The best thing to do is to hop on your bike and ride across it, since the bridge is a long one. On the other side, there was Pinwheel Forest, home to many Bug Types, including Sewaddle There were also warnings about a man in a green cloak that is seen from time to time in the Forest.” Bidding me adieu, I left several of my Pokemon on the PC, taking my Aromatisse, Alcremie, and Roserade, while also taking a moment to buy some Net Balls so I could catch Sewaddle easier.. I rushed out of the city on Skyarrow Bridge.

The views from Skyarrow Bridge are amazing! I decided to take a relaxed bike ride, since the ride was indeed a long one, and even at my relaxed pace, I was exhausted. Luckily, there was a gate that I could rest in for a little bit, filling my backpack with a few bottles of water. When I felt ready, I set out into the forest. It is a lot more expansive than I thought it would be! Luckily, there is a man made road through the Forest, cutting the possibility of getting lost. Sending out my Aromatisse, I had it fire off Sweet Scent in an attempt to attract Pokemon to me. As we walked, we saw a Sewaddle sitting on the trunk of a tree, climbing up slowly.
    320px-Pinwheel_Forest_Spring_B2W2.png

I was about to act, when suddenly a man dropped between me and my potential capture. This was the man in a green cloak the posters were warning about. Who could this be? He looked up at me, ready for battle. With no words, I took him on!

Aromatisse took on Dwebble, using Moon Blast, which was stronger because of the darkness of the forest, making Dwebble faint. Next came his Shelmet, and Aromatisse took an Acid attack, doing major damage. Shelmet struggled against the next Psychic attack, but another Acid attack took out Aromatisse. I sent out Alcremie, who finished Shelmet and his Karrablast, but fell to his Levanny. Now down to a one vs. one fight, I brought out my Roserade, who used Sludge Bomb, taking out Leavanny, making me the winner. The mysterious man revealed himself to be Burgh, leader of the Castelia City Gym and habitual wanderer in the forest. Turns out he was there to wander, trying to rid himself of the artist's block. Exhausted from the battle, he collapsed against the tree, declaring me the winner. When I walked over to check on him, he placed something in my hand. It was a Gym Badge! He felt that, after that battle, I deserved it. Remembering what I had come here for, I completed my capture of Sewaddle, then recorded the stats of the creature, which, for a Bug Type, was cute.

Burgh invited me to have dinner with him at his nearby camp, and I accepted after realizing how hungry I was. He sent out his Leavanny, who decided to make “clothes” for the little creature, which Sewaddle was grateful for. I got to know my newest capture while we camped. He and I left the forest, arriving at Nacrene City. Burgh led me to his personal studio, where he also housed Swadloon, who would sew clothes using string under the tutelage of Leavanny. I was granted the ability to record the stats of both Swadloon and Leavanny, hoping that one day my Sewaddle would learn the skills required.

Burgh asked me what I planned to do with Sewaddle, to which I replied that Sewaddle would find a home in the garden that I had at the Villa, and when it became a Swadloon, it would help to sew and mend, becoming a nurturer for my other Pokemon once it evolved all the way. Burgh smiled, then realized he had gotten over his block. In gratitude, he allowed me to stay with him as long as I wanted. I took him up on the offer. This is Amy, Burgh, and my new Sewaddle, signing off for the week!

    POTW: Gameplayers (Issue #22)
  • Welcome to Gameplayers! My name is Unovia, and it is great to have you here! This week, we are discussing the Sewaddle evolution family, which was introduced in Unova. Let’s get started.

Sewaddle was catchable first in Unova, findable on Route 12 & Route 20, as well as the interior of Pinwheel Forest. They show up again in Generation VI Hoenn, where it is catchable on Routes 101 and Routes 104 after the events with the Legendary Pokemon. Swadloon is catchable in Unova on Route 6, the interior of Pinwheel Forest, and the Lostlorn Forest. Leavanny is catchable on Routes 6 & 12, & the Lostlorn Forest. The only place outside of the home Region where Leavanny can be found is in Poni Meadow in Alola through Island Scan.

Moving to the Cards, Sewaddle has had 9 Cards, Swadloon & Leavanny have both had 7 Cards since all three were introduced in the Emerging Powers Expansion. That’s it for this week!

POTW: Shows & Reads (Issue #20)
  • Welcome to Shows & Reads! My name is Unovia, and it is great to have you here! This week, we are discussing the Sewaddle evolution family. Let’s get started. Sewaddle had its major debut as part of Ash’s Team. He caught it during an adventure through Pinwheel Forest in BW018. It evolved into a Swadloon in BW023, during Ash’s Gym Battle against Burgh, then into a Leavanny in BW074 during a training battle. Burgh also showed his Leavanny during the aforementioned Gym Battle, and the Pokemon Filmmaker Luke also had a Leavanny who would make clothes for the films Luke would produce. In the Manga, Burgh also has a Leavanny, which fills the same role as it does in other media, the star of Burgh’s team. That’s it for this week!

Article #48-The Majesty of Bald Eagles
  • Hello Trainers!

This is Travelin’ Dan, once again on the road after a few weeks off. Thanks Amy for taking over for a bit! This week, we are celebrating bald eagles, specifically Rufflet. I am just outside the Giant Chasm in Unova, here meeting with a Pokemon Breeder at the Rufflet & Braviary Breeding Facility who is focusing on breeding Braviary to make more Rufflet. How is he doing this, since Rufflet & Braviary are male only species? Ditto of course! When breeding a gender specific species, breeders have to use Ditto to make the process of producing eggs work. During our discussion, I mentioned that I had captured a Braviary quite a while ago, and he was very excited, since a trained Pokemon generally produces better stock than the wild ones do.

Bringing it out, he asked me to give it to him to increase the breeding stock. I was not sure to do this, since I had taken care of Braviary for such a long time. I let Braviary fly around for a while, and suddenly, a Rufflet decided to follow him. From one, there came a second, and a third, and soon, my Braviary was crowded by the Rufflet at the sanctuary. The breeder told me that they had not had a Braviary in a long time, since they had to capture them in the wild and struggle to breed them with the Ditto. After the eggs were produced, the wild Braviary would escape. Having a trained Braviary would be very beneficial to help the Rufflet be stronger, creating a stronger breeding stock overall, since the Rufflet would be released into the wild, making the species stronger and more able to live independently with good skills.

As I watched my Braviary interact with the Rufflet and thought about the decision, I took the stats down for Rufflet:

    StatsRufflet
    HP70

    Defense50
    Special Attack37

Calling Braviary back, I had a discussion with Braviary, who was continuing to be crowded by the Rufflet, who were clearly happy to have him. He was surprisingly happy too, which I was taken aback by, since Braviary was seen as a stoic Pokemon who didn’t show emotions. Braviary looked at the sky, thoughts swimming in its head.
“I think you should live at the Sanctuary. The Rufflet need you, and it is important to continue the species”, I said, though it seemed like Braviary knew what it wanted to do, since it looked at me with the serious eyes I knew it to have. It wanted to go, feeling a purpose. For the last time, I hugged Braviary, then returned it to the ball. As the day turned to night, I rejoined the breeder, who promised I could visit it any time I wanted. With tears in my eyes, I handed Braviary to the breeder, who smiled. I think I am going to spend a while here, making sure my Braviary settles in well. This is Travelin’ Dan, signing off!

  • Welcome to Shows & Reads! My name is Unovia, and it is great to have you here. This week, we are covering Rufflet. In the Anime, Rufflet had its major occurrence on BW095, where it was in a nursery and had a rivalry with a Vullaby. In the end, the two formed a bond of trust and became friends. In the Manga, a Rufflet was the pre-evolved form of a Braviary owned by Black, the protagonist of the Black & White Chapter. Said Rufflet was Black’s first Pokemon. That does it for this week!

Article #49-Celebi, the Time Traveling Onion
  • Hello Trainers!
This is C. J. and Alan, traveling on the road this week. We are in Azalea Town, on the hunt for the Time Traveling Fairy, Celebi. Celebi has a shrine in Ilex Forest, and the people in the area believe that if they take care of the shrine and make blessings, Celebi will continue to take care of them. Of course, that is the myth, but what is the truth?
    300px-HeartGold_SoulSilver_Kurt.png

In Azalea Town, in this little workshop, there is an old man named Kurt who works on creating Pokeballs from Apricorns. Maybe he can help us to know more about Celebi, after all, he is known far and wide for his skills, and the story around town is that he has an item connected to Celebi in his shop. It is also said that if you come to him with Apricorns, he will make them into Apricorn Balls, free of charge. Looking at his house, there is an Apricorn Tree, which upon inspection, looks to be white Apricorns. Let’s collect as many of these as we can, so we have something to trade for information. “Hey, Alan, climb up and pick a few of them”. (As he climbs, an old man comes out of his shop) “Hey Boys! Get out of my Apricorn Tree! Get down here so I can see you!”

As we climb down the tree, an old man scowls at us. When we regain our feet, he introduces himself. “The name is Kurt, though I also go by Old Man Kurt or Kurt the Apricorn Man. It is not exactly a pleasure to meet you both, considering you were stealing from my trees, but now that you are here, let me guess what you need. You need me to make Apricorn Balls for you before you go into those deep dark woods.” He then looked at us, prompting us to introduce ourselves. “It is nice to meet you Kurt. We may not have gotten on the right foot. My name is C. J., and this is Alan. Alan was the one climbing up the tree. We are here on a quest to find the mythical Pokemon known as Celebi. Do you know anything about it?”

Kurt turned, eyes clouded by thought. “I do know something about Celebi. Years ago, I was walking through the Ilex Forest, collecting Apricorns, when suddenly, I saw a Pokemon fly into my arms. I was near the Ilex Shrine when it happened. It was Celebi, and it was badly hurt. I raced to the shine, where it recovered, then gave me a seedling before vanishing. That little seedling became the tree that is outside my shop.” His head turned to a shelf. Years later, a boy with a Pikachu and his two friends brought a curious item to my shop, hoping I could help them uncover its secrets.” Taking the ball down, he added, “I never did, but maybe if you two bring it to the Shine, the secrets could be revealed.” The ball was gold on top and silver on the bottom, with a GS on it.
    GS_Ball_anime.png

Kurt finished, "If you wait a bit, I can turn those White Apricorns into Fast Balls. Those would be perfect to catch a fast Pokemon, or maybe even a Mythical fairy.” Kurt smiled, then said, “Maizie, escort them out please!” He whispers to Mazie, telling her something. Introducing herself, she says, “My name is Maizie, and I work with my grandfather Kurt, collecting Apricorns for him. I would really like to go with you to Celebi’s Shrine, but before I do that, I want to see how well you battle! I am going to use four Pokemon. Now who will challenge me?” Alan looked at me as though to volunteer me for the battle. We walked outside, away from the shop and onto the battlefield of the Azalea Town Pokemon Center. Alan decided to watch.

    Slowbro (Maizie’s)Raichu

She first sent out Kurt’s Shuckle, and I sent out Charizard. Shuckle was heavily defensive, but could also attack. Charizard’s Flamethrower barely did anything, but Shuckle did a lot with Stone Edge, easily taking out Charizard. Blastoise beat Shuckle, and Maizie brought out her Uraring, which used Hammer Arm to counter a Hydro Pump, and both Pokemon had a double KO. She sent out her Slowbro, to which I sent out Rachu. Raichu managed to thunderbolt Slowbro, creating an OHKO. Down to her last Pokemon, she sent out Kurt’s Slowking. Raichu used a superpowered Thunderbolt, making it faint. We won! Maizie healed up her team, we got the Fast Balls from Kurt, and headed west into the Ilex Forest. As the sun slowly went down, we arrived at the Ilex Shrine. The GS Ball was placed on the Shrine, and Celebi materialized. The Mythical Pokemon Celebi, here at the Shrine.

I used my Stat Reader to read the stats of this Mythical Pokemon.

Celebi was dancing around, twirling in the air, seemingly having fun. Gripping my Fast Ball, I threw the Ball at the Mythical Fairy, capturing it. As I bent down to collect Celebi, another Legendary materialized in the distance, a Pokemon with a blue aura, Suicune. I froze, uncertain if Suicune would react poorly, but all it did was stand there, seemingly at peace. Celebi is reportedly able to travel through time, heal forests and nature, and is a sign of a bright future ahead. I left the GS ball in the forest where it seemed to be the best place for it, then Maizie, Alan, and I left Ilex Forest to tell Kurt about what happened. I hope he will believe us. I plan to bring Celebi to the garden and build a shrine to it as a sign of prosperity. I can’t believe I have a Celebi of my own! This is C. J., Alan, Maizie, and my new Celebi, signing off for the week! I hope this is the beginning of a bright future for all of us!

    POTW: Gameplayers (Issue #24)
  • Welcome to Gameplayers! My name is Unovia, and it is great to have you here! This week, we are discussing Celebi, the time traveling Pokemon. Being a Mythical Pokemon, Celebi is not directly present in many of the games, even in the Johto Region, in which it was introduced. Celebi could be summoned to the Ilex Shrine by the use of the GS Ball, a mysterious Poke Ball said to hold Celebi itself. In the original games, Celebi was only obtainable in Japanese Crystal, though this was amended in the Virtual Releases, where even international players of Crystal could capture Celebi by visiting the Shrine with the GS Ball item.

Celebi has had much more representation in the Cards, with 31 Cards dedicated to it since appearing in the Neo Revelation Expansion. That does it for this week!

POTW: Shows & Reads (Issue #22)
  • Welcome to Shows & Reads! My name is Unovia, and it is great to have you here! This week, we are discussing Celebi, the time traveling Pokemon. Celebi had 2 major appearances, being M04 and M13. In Movie 4, it was being hunted, first by a poacher, then by the Iron Mask Marauder. To escape the first poacher, Celebi traveled 40 Years in the future with a young Samuel Oak, where it was later captured by the Iron Masked Marauder, who used it for his own dark means. It was eventually rescued and healed, taking Sam back to his own proper time.

In M13, Celebi was a resident of Crown City, which it had come to 20 Years before the events of the movie using its time ripple. Grings Kodai would come across the ripple, which he would use to gain wealth and power. Through the course of the movie, the time ripple was discussed. If it was absorbed, it presented as a purple force, while if it remained pure, it was green and could heal.

Celebi also appeared as a character in SM125, where it accidentally took Ash back in time to meet a 5 Year Old future Professor Kukui. This action was reversed in the next episode. Another was also assisted in AG155.

In the Manga, Celebi was introduced as an object of the Masked Man in the Gold, Silver, & Crystal Chapter. Since then, it intervened in various events of the Ruby & Sapphire Chapter as well as the Heartgold & Soulsilver Chapter, especially during situations that threatened its home Region of Johto. That does it for this week!

Article #50-Cacturne, Scarecrow Of The Desert
  • Greetings Trainers!
It’s Manny and Vance, on the road this week. Dan and Amy are in Unova, while C. J. and his friend Alan are in Johto. With all of them on the road, Dan asked us to go to Sinnoh for this week to celebrate Create A Scarecrow Day. Man, it is cold! We recently landed in Snowpoint City. This city is the most northern one in the Pokemon world, and one of the most snow bound cities. We had not explored anywhere since we took on the Regis at the Split Decision Ruins. The time in Snowpoint is just as a stopover, since our final destination is on Route 228, which is a desert north of Snowpoint. We both came to Snowpoint with the following teams:

    MannyVance
    LuxrayRaichu
    LucarioBlaziken
    Venusaur
    Charizard
    Blastoise

Before we traveled north, we decided to take on Candice while we were in town. Heading to the door, we saw a note which read:

    Hello Challengers!
If you are looking for me, I am at the Snowpoint City Trainer Academy. Join me there and then I will battle you.
    Candice

We turned around quickly and after having some confusion, we found the academy, where we watched Candice teach. Once she was done, we did a slight bow, introduced ourselves, and asked to challenge her. She accepted, then asked us which one wanted to go first. We talked, quickly coming to the decision that Vance would battle her and I (Manny) would watch. I would be the one to catch Cacturne though. Candice understood, then led us to the gym, which was covered in ice, creating a super cold environment. Candice announced she would use 5 Pokemon, perfect against Vance, since he also had 5.

    Candice (Gym Leader)Vance (Challenger)
    MedichamRaichu
    SneaselBlaziken
    PiloswineCharizard
    AbomasnowVenusaur
    FroslassBlastoise

Medicham was sent out first, and Vance sent out Raichu. Medicham used Force Palm. Raichu paralyzed Medicham, which slowed it down. Raichu used Thunderbolt, which caused both of them to faint. Candice sent out Sneasel and Vance sent out Blaziken. The two engaged in speed maneuvers, which Blaziken ended with a rapid fire Blaze Kick. Sneasel slammed into the wall, ending the battle. Piloswine came out, and the two exchanged attacks, with Piloswine using Stone Edge against a powerful Flamethrower. This made both of them faint. Now it was Charizard versus Abomasnow. Abomasnow set up with Snow Warning, making it hard for Charizard to attack effectively. In the end, they both knocked each other out, Abomasnow falling to Flamethrower and Charizard falling to a Hail boosted Avalanche. While Candice was down to one Pokemon, she had the advantage against Vance, who had two Pokemon that were weak to Ice and Ghost moves. In addition, due to the Hail, Froslass was going to be fast. Venusaur came out and used Sunny Day, cancelling out the Hail. Froslass struck fast with Psychic and Venusaur hit with Solar Beam, doing damage to both combatants. When the smoke cleared, Venusaur had fallen, while Froslass looked weakened. In a last attempt to win, Vance sent out Blastoise, who used Hydro Pump to draw Froslass in and then used Bite to end the battle with Vance winning. He was given the Icicle Badge, while Candice gave me a pass to the S. S. Spiral, the ship that takes trainers to the Battle Zone to the northeast of Sinnoh. As we celebrated his win, Vance encouraged me to head out and get to Route 228 to capture Cacturne while he wanted to have his team healed. With some reluctance, I agreed, and was soon on the ship, speeding away from Snowpoint City. Vance said he would wait for me to return with Cacturne in hand.

I left for Route 228, plan in mind, landing in the port at the Battle Zone. I then asked Nurse Joy how to get to Route 228, and I was soon off, riding on my Luxray. As day turned to night, I arrived in the desert, setting up camp in the process. I saw many Cacturne walking through the desert, with one significantly larger than the rest. Using Luxray to track it using its glowing eyes, I had Lucario find and battle the targeted one. I soon caught up with Lucario, who was in an intense battle with the massive Cacturne. Cacturne are infamous for following and encircling travelers until they can’t move, so I was afraid that Cacturne would exhaust Lucario, but soon, Lucario ended the fight with an Aura Sphere, allowing me to finally catch it in a Dusk Ball. I determined the stats of the creature.

With my capture complete, I rested for the night, then rushed back to Snowpoint, where Vance was waiting for me at the port. He said that he had a feeling I would be back soon. And after we healed up, Candice came to meet up with me, allowing me to challenge her.

Medicham battled Luxray, which Luxray took out with Thunderbolt. Manny switched to Lucario, who took out Sneasel, Piloswine, and Abomasnow, though not before Abomasnow set up the Snow Warning Hail. Froslass defeated both Luxray and Lucario, leaving Manny only with cacturne. Cacturne set up Sandstorm, which got rid of Hail, then Cacturne used Payback, just as the Sandstorm ended, taking out Froslass and giving Manny the win. The Icicle Badge was given to him, and after the battle, we celebrated with Candice. I think we will stop for the week. This is Manny with his new Cacturne and Vance, signing off!

In the Anime, Cacturne had its major appearance in AG103, under the ownership of Harley, a Pokemon Coordinator in the Hoenn Region, being his main Pokemon. It traveled with Harley through Hoenn and Kanto, battling against May many different times.

In the Manga, it was under the ownership of Wally. It was stated to have been caught as a Cacnea in the Hoenn Desert of Route 111. That does it for this week!

    Article #51-The Lonely Cubone
  • Greetings Trainers! This is C. J. and Alan, here in Goldenrod. We are about to take the Magnet Train to Saffron City in Kanto then travel east along Route 8 to Lavender Town. Once we get there, we will go to Pokemon Tower, where our objective, Cubone, resides. Cubone is known as the Lonely Pokemon, and wears the skull of its dead mother, making this a perfect Pokemon for Cheer Up The Lonely Day. Here comes the train, and we are off!
    800px-Pokémon_Tower_PE.png

    =Saffron City, Kanto=
We are now in Saffron City, which is not too far away from Lavender Town. With their proximity, they are almost sister cities. Departing the train station, we move east, over Route 8, finding ourselves in Lavender Town. Lavender Town is famous for the Pokemon Tower, where the spirits of Pokemon rest and the occasional haunting happens.

Upon entering the tower, we are overwhelmed by the mourners, who come this way to pay respects to the Pokemon. We also meet Mr. Fuji here, a man who is seen as kindly to the residents of the town. After we explained what we were doing here, we were told that Cubones have been seen on the 5th Floor of the Tower, though the people viewed it as an unlikely occurrence.

Climbing slowly up the creaking stairs, we arrive on the 5th Floor. Walking around and looking at the graves, we hear the sound of a bone hitting the back of one of the gravestones. It was, in fact, a Cubone, sitting against the grave, remarking on its lonely nature. Both Alan and I notice the Cubone, and I get out one of my Poke Balls. Slowly lowering the ball, it taps Cubone on the head, opening and beginning to catch it. The startled Cubone is captured, and the ball loudly hits the concrete, making an echoing sound. I have a Cubone, if I can just get the ball. Slowly, carefully, I collect the ball, then scan for its data.

Before we could celebrate, however, we were chased out by a couple ghosts. Whew, that was close! We have two Cubones, Pokemon that started lfe as lonely Pokemon, and now they are friends. This is C. POTW: Shows & Reads (Issue #24)
  • Welcome to Shows & Reads. My name is Unovia, and it is nice to have you here. This week, we are discussing Cubone, the Lonely Pokemon. It debuted in EP009, under the ownership of Gisselle, one of the students of Pokemon Tech. Another Cubone appeared in XY137, under the ownership of Alvin, who was fighting Clembot for his Gym Badge. Finally, in JN015, Goh helped a Cubone who had its bone stolen. It was later caught by Goh.

In the Manga, Cubone is under the ownership of Crystal and named Bonee. It is a very caring, yet strong and determined pokemon who Crystal relies on. It was first captured in the Gold, Silver, & Crystal chapters, and has been with Crystal through the Emerald Chapter and the Heartgold & Soulsilver Chapters. That’s it for this week!

Article #52-I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Vanillite
  • Greetings Trainers!
It’s your girl, Amy, here in Driftveil City. This week, I am celebrating National Ice Cream Day. It used to be that there was a Cold Storage facility to the south of the city. Eventually, it was replaced with the Pokemon World Tournament, or PWT. The Cold Storage facility was a place for ice types to congregate. Once it was replaced by the PWT, the ice types migrated to Route 6 in the west. North of the Route is Chargestone Cave, a great location for Electric types.

Looking at the sky, I am seeing snow. It is clear that the Ice Types modified the area for their living. Vanillite was supposedly born from an icicle that was hit by the rays of the sun. It has breath that is super chilled, and burrows into the ground to sleep. This week, I am only traveling with my Amomatisse, so hopefully, I can attract Vanillite. Once day turned to night, I went to work, quickly capturing Vanillite in a Quick Ball before it could bury itself in the snow for the night. I scanned the area, scanning Vanillish and a massive Vanilluxe, which is exceptionally rare in the wild.

Looking now at my new Vanillite, I am finding that there will have to be a location in the Villa, specifically set aside for the ice types, like Vanillite and Eiscue, an area where they can be comfortable. It looks at me, happy as can be, as I hug it close. The Fresh Snow Pokemon is very cuddly, and I am glad I have one now. It will be a powerful addition to my team one day. This is Amy and my new Vanillite, signing off!

    Article #53-Applin, Culinary Delight
  • Greetings Trainers!
It’s Travelin’ Dan! Before I discuss where I am and the Pokemon of the week, I am going to thank Amy and C. J. for covering the last few weeks. Anyway, this week, I am in Galar, hunting down not one, but two Applin for Culinary Appreciation Day. Outside the town of Turffield, there is an Apple Orchard, perfect for a Pokemon like Applin, the wormlike Grass & Dragon type. I decided to take my Tepig to Galar, since it is the Pokemon that is the youngest.

Moving into the orchard, I looked up at the trees, where there were a lot of green worm creatures swarming the trees, especially near the apples. I snapped some pictures, then the orchard workers saw me, and they challenged me to battle. Their leader, Orchard Master Johnny, told me that if I defeated him in battle, I would be allowed to depart with as many Applin as I needed. If I lost, then I would leave, with no information. With no option, I took him on.

    Appletun

Tepig first went up against Flapple. At first, Flapple was dominating the fight, being well out of range of attack. Tepig used Flame Charge, charging up. Flapple made the mistake of diving after Tepig. Tepig hit Flapple, and Flapple fainted. The Orchard Master sent out Appletun. It tried to strike with Headbutt, but luckily it was slow, boosting Tepig into the air. Rolling in the air, Tepig used Flame Charge, becoming a fireball, smacking down into the middle of the pie-like body. Appletun was burned, ending the fight, or so I thought. Appletun healed itself, then struck back with Headbutt. Appletun used Protect to defend against Tepig’s Ember. Tepig jumped back, and the two Pokemon battled back and forth, and in a last strike, Tepig used a +20 boosted Flame Charge, which turned into Flame Wheel, taking out Appletun, winning me the battle.

Orchard Master Johnny recognized my win, allowing me to leave with 2 Applin and giving me Tart & Sweet Apples. My two Applin decide to pick an Apple each, turning into a Flapple & Appletun. I recorded the stats.

Looking at my two Pokemon, I can see why Culinary artists like Applin, Flapple, & Appletun, as they represent the two sides of a dessert, either sweet or tart. Johnny, now defeated, asks me to join him and his team in picking apples. I may learn a thing or two about apple pies, skills I can go back to the Sinnoh Villa with. This is Travelin’ Dan, signing off for the week in the Turffield Orchard!
