END OF DAY 60: 21 DAYS TO GO...AT LEAST?
Case in Victoria in the Past 24 Hours: 63 new cases (1872 active cases) 666 lives lost (+5 new deaths in past 24 hours)
Well, today was the press conference, and was mixed (you can view the statement from our Premier Daniel Andrews Department of Health and Human Services Victoria | Statement from The Premier). Some people (mostly industry groups) are saying that this is a bad thing for the economy. While I support opening up, we cannot be too quick about it, as if we open up to quickly (like certain groups, the Liberal Party, as well as certain conspiracy theorists want us to do), then we would be back to square one and would have to endure everything again. As a Victorian, we need to be conservative, and go about it slowly and carefully. We need to be realistic about coronavirus in which it will not simply disappear. It will take time and we need to accept that we need to go slow and steady and accept long term pain (i.e. lockdown) for long term gain (freedom).
Here are some of the changes that will take effect next Sunday:

Sadly, there are people around the world protesting against lockdown, even when their country has high number of new cases. As you may remember a couple of months ago, I put up an article from Singapore's Straits Times in regards to a 30 year old Texan who was a coronavirus denier, but ultimately died from it.
Today, we had 63 new cases of coronavirus (an overall increase of 59 due to 4 cases being reclassified), and sadly five new deaths, all linked to aged care facilities (one woman in her 80's, three women in their 90's and one woman in her 100's). Three of the deaths occurred yesterday, while two occurred prior to yesterday.
And now to some of the statistics from today (Department of Health and Human Services Victoria | Coronavirus update for Victoria - 06 September 2020):
And now to the local government areas (they went back to confirmed cases instead of active cases, which is more reliable) (Department of Health and Human Services Victoria | Coronavirus update for Victoria - 06 September 2020):
Today was Fathers' Day here in Australia (happy Fathers' Day to all the fathers out there), but it was largely subdued day due to coronavirus, especially here in Melbourne. I just listened to the radio and did an online course today. And just before bed tonight, I will be reading a book.
TOMORROW: Being Monday, homework club (via Zoom); plus a doctor's appointment (via phone). And watch a bit of television tomorrow night.
See you tomorrow.

Here are some of the changes that will take effect next Sunday:
- Curfew will start at 2100 instead of the current 2000 (acknowledging that days are getting longer and sunset is later)
- Exercise will be a maximum of 2 hours a day instead of 1 hour. This could be a two-hour block or split into two one-hour blocks
- A social bubble will be introduced for those who are living on their own
- Regional Victoria to enter '2nd Step' of roadmap on September 13
- All VCE and VCAL students will attend onsite for the General Achievement Test and other essential assessments from 5 October
- Up to five people will be able to gather together in outdoor public places – the park, the beach – up to a maximum of two households.
- Outdoor pools and playgrounds in regional Victoria will also open. And religious services can be conducted outside with a maximum of five people, plus a faith leader
- For schools and students, a staged return to onsite learning from Term Four
