Question about Series and pokemon Emerald

I know you guys have said in the past that the games and the shows are not based on each other but i was just wondering the whole Emerald kind of series what season did it start and which season did it end?
 
If you count the Battle Frontier as being "Emerald", then it started near the end of Season 8 and lasted through most of Season 9 bar 5 episodes.
