someone freshen my memory: Green's "psychic link"?

I can't recall very well because I only read through Serebii's Special summaries quite a while ago, but in one chapter, didn't Green have his Pokemon (Strike, I think) perform an intricate action without even giving a command, stating that a truly skilled trainer is capable of linking directly to their Pokemon's hearts or something to that affect?
 
If we're talking about the same thing it was in the fight with Agatha, when Green was trapped Alakazam (I think) connected with him through the Pokedex. I think that Green didn't make any psychic contact, Alakazam was reading his mind or something, and tranfered his thought on the Pokedex's screen.
