and to answer your question: yes. journalists live off clicks today, and generating false controversies is how they get those clicks. furthermore, if you're the first to point out a """problem""", you automatically erase the possibility of being called racist/sexist/whateverist for not covering it AND you get awesome brownie points for bringing this oh-so-important issue to light like the shining hero you are.
