Writers' Workshop General Chat Thread

I wouldn't mind if that genres guide I wrote awhile back could be added to the directory or something. xP

But that's really all I can think of. The workshop is fine as is. It would be nice if the quiz game could've been more active though.
 
^I think it's fine as it is. There aren't too many people writing for it, though a lot of those prompts seem fun (I just haven' gotten around to doing them xD), so a whole forum isn't that necessary, I think. The index in the first post already works wonders when trying to find a nice prompt every now and then, so yeah. Uh, I guess if more people would be writing for those prompts, then I think a forum could be considered. ^_^

The Workshop as a whole is good already; the only thing really lacking is activity, in a way. Like what Kelleo and Flaze said, the quiz thingy getting more notice/actually happening would be great! Same thing with the Review Game, but at least that's still a bit more active than the quiz at any rate.

I was thinking that an Atlas thread option could be added to the directory, but as has been noted before, that could make it cluttered. I was also thinking of a "Best Atlas Thread" award, as that section barely gets any activity.
 
Speaking of Atlases, I still need to make one for Fire Emblem: Dawn of Darkness. Though, all it will really be is linking to pages of the DoD wiki. lol (Gama gave me permission to do this awhile back)
 
Thanks for the suggestions. After the Awards are finished I will look into rebooting the Quiz with new prizes and the like :)

In order to make more room for important news and the like, the Hall of Fame and Archive Help Thread have both been moved to the Fanfic Archive for the time being. Look out for an important announcement very shortly, and remember to get your submissions in people! Only about 7 people have entered which is a rather disappointing number, especially when you can all nominate yourselves!
 
If you haven't nominated yourself because you thought it would be too crass to do so, do remember that no one else can nominate you.

I had the same thought for a long time, and I largely didn't vote nor nominate in the previous awards because I thought it was a system of favouritism, but ultimately, if you nominate yourself and get to the judging round, your story will get reviewed. You can request the review after the awards, and get some feedback based on that, which is largely why I nominated myself; I want to know what I did wrong, and what I did right.

You've got nothing to lose, anyway, and you might even got some awards and recognition while you're at it.

Only 7? I'm really surprised too, I would've thought lots of people would be entering this time since they can nominate themselves. :/

It also feels more accomplishing when your work beats a large number of other contenders in the awards!
 
Phew, I finally managed to finish post the third chapter of my fic, just in time for the nominations to end. This will actually be the first awards season that I will participate in, so I'm kind of exited :)

By the way, is anyone able to say this german word: Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz. I've tried and failed.

It means something like this, Beef labeling supervision delegation Act. It's the name of a law about testing meat etc. in order to confirm whether or not it had Mad Cow Disease. It's only recently that the law was dissolved since it isn't such a big issue and since it was on an online article I read, that's how I learned about it. But still, couldn't they have thought of a shorter name? XD

Also, for the Twitter savvy out there, I have decided I will try and use the Twitter account more often now that we are all social media-y, and it has been months since I last did it! I had left Gama to do it all but he is on a Leave of Absence so now I will try and let you know of all that stuff! We are @bulbawriters , I think that's how it works, so follow us y'all!
 
I wish I could vote, but with work and stuff, I hardly have time to do much reading. I don't expect any of my nominations to win anyway though. Nobody's read my stuff and people here aren't very familiar with Fire Emblem. I really just nominated my stuff to get names out there in hopes that they might interest peeps later. xP

You could still nominate for Best Reviewer and Best Newcomer :)
