Preview BWS2DA!E20 - My Dream, Pokémon Master!!

So now you remember you had a dream of becoming a Pokémon Master, Satoshi? I really hope he get more serious about his dream in the XY anime, like he was in DP. Anyway, yay Bulbasaur :D I missed him. I hope his appearance is foreshadowing he appearing in the XY and evolving in order to get a Mega Evo, eventually

I really hope that the brock/cilan and iris/gible episodes are not a part of this, because it will be a rushed mess.

With our dumb luck that's likely what'll happen :uhoh:

Though here's the weird thing: I want the Misadventures of Cilan & Brock to be as long as possible, but want the Iris bit to be as really, really short.

Because the idea of two sidekicks hanging out without Ash around sounds potentially fun and interesting while I've had more than enough of Iris and her Dragon Master BS, thank you.

Pity this is the last episode, I never got a single Mienshao filler episode, it made so few appearances in BW, and now it won't ever because Mienshao is a Gen 5 Pokemon and unless they make Mega Mienshao, it won't ever make an appearance ever again because it will all be Gen 6 Pokemon from here on out, and it depresses me.
That is not necessarily true. There are plenty of old Pokémon featured in XY, and the anime preview also showed quite a few of them. There were a lot of fillers about "random" old Pokémon in previous series, and even now in the Decolore saga.

Here, here!

Heck, I wouldn't surprised if some (shot, several) Gen Fivers got better treatment in XY than they did in BW!

The thing is, Ash constantly talks about his goal but the writers do nothing to help him realize it. It's like in DP they realized after he defeated 2 legendaries, they were like 'oh shit man, he's getting strong, quick REGRESS REGRESS' and then came up with BW. Because the stronger Ash gets to closer he is to his goal. Sadly, I wish he had a more realistic goal, something actually achievable.

No way i won't to ever see Ash go back to the way he was like in the DP series, atleast in the BW series he did stated he wanted to become a Pokemon master.

Hopefully XY series will keep wth the tone of Ash's character like the BW series did.

Yeah, Oak, Oak's Lab, Bulbasaur, Brock and I really really hope that Misty and Tracey will appear.
Damn, I missed Kanto and Pallet much more than Ash.

Hell i missed the OS Kanto , Pallet Town, the old Classic Prof. Oak, Ash,Misty and Brock, Gary. Those were the good old days.

Zekrom should try to destroy pallet town and charizard beats him :D

If this becomes an episode where Ash reflects about his ultimate dream and what he's achieved so far, I will become anemic from explosive nosebleeding because WE DON'T GET ENOUGH EPISODES LIKE THESE

I'm probably getting my hopes up too high, but this can almost be nothing else but an Ash-centric episode and that alone pleases me.
As for Cilan and Iris, surely they'll get episodes to themselves about what's going on after parting with Ash - after all, the scenes we've seen of Cilan were clearly done by Iwane whereas the scenes of Iris were done by someone else (I'm not quite soo who, though. Ogata?) so they're separate episodes. If this episode is the one where we saw a scene of Ash looking up at the sun, sees Cilan and Iris and reaches put to them, I'm pretty sure that was a scene by Natsume (although it was a very brief scene so I could be wrong).

How is he ever supposed to compare slaying a darkrai to being swept by a lucario in good conscience?

Hold on, let me get this straight. You'd rather have Ash lose battles, regress in the Regional League, and have cheap wins than have him win with strategy and skill? If you're talking about his personality, than OK, I understand. But in terms of battles... :F

Oh, FYI, he stated it multiple times in DP that he wanted to become a Pokemon Master.

So long, Best Wishes Series.

On the episode's layout however, I'm thinking it'll be something among.the lines of:

1: This episode focuses on Ash, with Iris and Cilan's self respective journies being the episode's B plot.

2: This episode mainly shows Iris and Cilan on their own journies, with Ash being the episode's B plot.

I think the ending will be Ash and Pikachu leaving for Kalos (With TR stalking him) while
NEXT TIME... A NEW BEGINNING! appears.

True, but they were mostly Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon that have been featured in the fillers of Best Wishes, and Gen 3 and 4 were pretty much ignored, and while it's true Mienfoo is shown in X/Y screenshots, that doesn't mean that Ash might catch one in Kalos because it's a Gen 5 Pokemon, and he can only catch Gen 6 Pokemon because that's what they need to primarily market, unless it has an alternate evolution in Gen 6 or they make the aformentioned Mega Mienshao, it's unlikely it could appear at all. Know the reason Ash caught Gligar back in Sinnoh? To market the Gen 4 evolution Gliscor, that's why.

I do agree that a large amount of Gen 5's Pokemon got ignored in Best Wishes, and for the generation that introduced the most Pokemon of any gen before it, not even half of them got focus at all, they just kept using the same ones over and over again, like the fact there were two episodes about Cubchoo, two episodes involving Beheeyem, SEVERAL with Watchog (I'm getting the feeling Watchog is one of the writers favorite Pokemon, because it appeared a lot in BW), a few with Heatmor, and the fact Oshawott got more screentime than not just both it's evolutions (Dewott and Samurott) combined, but even it's fellow starters Snivy and Tepig, which were focused only half as much as Oshawott was. It's really sad that some of the popular Pokemon in Gen 6 were completely ignored, Mienshao most especially, which barely made any appearances except ones where it always lost battles to whatever Pokemon was the focus of that episode.

Unfortunately, the only older gen Pokemon they will likely give focus to in XY (other than Pikachu obviously) are going to be evolution lines with Mega Evolutions and Pokemon with new evolutions or pre-evos in Gen 6.

The thing is, Ash constantly talks about his goal but the writers do nothing to help him realize it. It's like in DP they realized after he defeated 2 legendaries, they were like 'oh shit man, he's getting strong, quick REGRESS REGRESS' and then came up with BW. Agreed, but I heard they only do this so they can market the newer games, which is a waste of time. I mean really, is it THAT hard for them to make a new main character for the anime? And before you say "It's because of Pikachu, who's the franchise mascot!" I should remind you that Pikachu is a species, not a one of a kind individual, you could just have the new main character catch a Pikachu, and the problem is solved. That's why I often feel like the writers don't care about Ash at all, they want to change the main character, but higher-ups won't allow them to.

The Pokemon franchise is not anywhere near as popular as it was back in Gen 1 because they refuse to make changes to the anime, it's been the same thing for 15 years, and it's because they refuse to let Ash anywhere near his goal.

They do this at the end of each generation, it's not even going to be a new beginning, it's just going to be the same beginning again and again, where Pikachu is reset and Ash acts like an imbecile while he catches ONLY Pokemon from that region and ignores all his older Pokemon, leaving them at Oak's forever never to be seen again in battle (unless it's his Charizard, because it's Charizard). Face it, the Pokemon anime isn't going to change.

The wins Ash had in the BW series weren't cheap at all, since he did shown that he still have great skills as a Pokemon trainer.

Pokemon isn't as good as it used to be during the Kanto Gen 1 series, because at that time it was really big and popular.

Yes they were considering almost all of them spit in the face of type advantage and he won a lot of things he shouldnt due to mid battle evolutions. It was a sign that the writers still had common sense when cameron gave his team a much needed smackdown.

Watch dp again then try to compare his skill as a trainer to his bw self , you will realize how wrong really you are.

lol wut?

based on you comments im beginning to wonder have you even watched the anime lately?

This episode is going to be pretty basic: Ash sees all his Pokemon again and we won't see them again for a very long time and only for this one episode where they're only on for 30 seconds because Ash no longer needs them, he drops off all of his Unova Pokemon never to be used again, and then Ash leave for Kalos immediately. The title of the episode is really meaningful, since it will always be a dream and Nintendo will never let him reach that goal because they only care about money and nothing more.

Frankly, I couldn't agree more with you. This will actually be my final episode of the anime, because I now know where the anime is headed for the remainder of its run: in a cyclic and never ending loop with no real focus or actually achieving Ash/Satoshi's "dream." I can't spend more years on the show knowing that Ash and company are doomed to remain in the same position they have since the series began, eventually reach the level Ash was in Sinnoh or a bit better, and then reset again for the next generation of games. It's a never ending cycle and never ending anime at this point. I just don't see the point of watching the anime anymore...it used to be fun, enjoyable, and it seemed like Ash and company were actually working towards their goals...but now...well, you know. It's sad, but I've got to move on.

Why I decided this will be it for me? Since it is the final episode of the BW series, and I want to finish what I started. :)

To be honest, I never thought we were going to see Satoshi achieve his dream in the series proper -- or, at least, as far back as when I picked the anime back up at the beginning of D/P, I didn't think we would. Pokemon Master is one of those nebulous concepts that's never fully explained in the series. We're highly aware of what a Champion is, for instance, but the actual meaning of being a Pokemon Master is never revealed. And by having the word "master" in there, it implies a level of skill that takes many years to fully develop. Even if Satoshi were to win a league, beat the elite four, and beat the champion, I don't think I'd consider him a master from just that. In a very real way, I think his continued travels contribute more to that goal than any victory at a gym or in a league could, anyway. Granted, I would love to see him do all that, but it's not a prerequisite in my mind.

I don't really watch the anime out of a desire to see Satoshi become the best trainer ever or win lots of battles or even accomplish his goal, I watch it because it's fun and entertaining and enjoyably light-hearted, usually, and that's a fair change from a lot of other content out there. I think it was exactly that during BW and it'll continue to be lots of fun during XY.

Your are the one that is wrong and maybe you haven't watch the show in a long time, second he still has skills to battle in Gym battles and BW Ash isn't any diifferent from before.

I'm pretty sure i have been watching the anime.

BW made it more fun than DP did for me, but Da! has been a real chore to sit through to say the least. For me, it was fun, but it's lost that enjoyable feeling for me (the newer seasons), so that's where I've got that basis for my conclusion. I respect your opinion, though.

It never felt light-hearted in DP in my eyes. The mature feeling was somewhat nice, but they still said the characters didn't age back then, so that made no sense to me and made it awkward to see kids acting so serious. lol.
