The Official Future Speculation Thread

I don't even think that they will announce the games on Saturday. If the Holiday release is true, then I can't see them hyping up another potential sequel for more than 5 months.
That's assuming that it is a sequel. Since it is described as an anniversary game, not announcing it by the 27th would be weird.

If the game is set in Northern Kalos, Southern Kalos or both, I really hope that they give us a wider variety of customization items. Let us remove the hat!

Gen 6 is mostly represented by Mega Evolution, it fuels the plot, it fuels the gameplay, it even shows up in the japanese logo of the series. If the name were Rainbow, it fits gen 6 perfectly consodering mega evolution. If you look closely the ley stones and the mega evo sigil have raimbow gradients. Rainbow fits Kanto for the Region, Kalos for the lore.

Edit: I'm on the fence about Niji being a codename. If it were, it would be in the same format as the others, ie Codename:Niji. Actaully being labelled as Pokemon 20th Anniversary Game Niji is too specific, and like I've analyzed before Niji in its Kanji spealling fits the gej 1 and 2 naming motif to a tee. Sure they ised it in English letters, but perhaps that's a translation for the Westerners or something. Either way, I don't buy it being a codename, not yet at leasrlt.

I mean it would match the naming scheme, which it kind of needs to for marketing purposes. Sticking to a pattern in the naming scheme helps immediately convey what kind of game it is and how it relates to other games in the series, so using the name Rainbow sends the wrong message about this game. Whatever the name of the next Kalos game is, it has to stick to the letter/graph theme.

UK born and bred, don't know what all the fuss is about.

Oh, here's some lovely UK landscape photos to whet your appetite:

^I've lived here all my life and I have never seen it looking that good. lol.

Seriously, though, the UK would be a great future setting for a Pokemon game. It has that nice mix of rural and urban that Gamefreak have always championed. We have wet moorlands, northern highlands and lochs, beautiful countryside, wonderful coasts...but we also have London! Imagine a gothic-style London like something out of a Tim Burton movie, all cold, dark and foggy with castles and bridges and dungeons. Ooh~

And the emerald isle could be postgame! Yes, I'm definitely on board with this :)

Valid point you make, but they can do what they want. If they want to make a very obvious dragon, Charizard, but not give it Dragon-type, they will do just that. Logic and Pokemon don't go together.

Pokemon ROYBGIV, letters AND a rainbow!

Seriously though, if its true bred 20th anniversary game, and within its own bubble, it doesn't need to go with any current naming schematic. If its gen 6 tied to the 20th, then yeah, some sort of letter schemstic would be needed.

The UK is beautiful, it's just not something you often put in a sentence together, mainly because people think it's just either the city or the country and that's it, but there's miles of depth to it. Fairy pools, Fingal's cave, Smoo Caves, Achmelvich all in Scotland, amazing landscapes. Wistman's Woods in Devon, Whiteless Pike (Lake District), St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall, Cheddar Gorge in Somerset.

Seriously, google some of those, the UK deserves more appreciation than what it's known for; council estates and local rivers lol.

Millions of years ago, most of Scotland was in the tropics, all of the UK in fact, that's why in the highlands there are fossilised exotic plants and animals that once dwelled when the UK was on the equator. Then again, there are beautiful places in most countries, it just takes some searching to find them...

I know it's meant to be a joke, but I just didn't get the humour of it all. Oh well. *shrug*

I think the part of France that wasn't incorporated into Kalos is possibly big enough to make a region on its own.

Same! I look at photos like that and think to myself how I've never seen places like that in the country.

Apparently its only 5 minutes, so its likely going to be a reveal trailer for the next game and that's it.

That is false info. If was real, it would of appeared in official websites like Bulbapedia and Serebii. The real news would come when it is ready and it is not even April for false news anyway.
Man, of course it's false. Since when is @Platinum Lucario 's uncle a good source :p

I'm fairly certain they will talk about the VC consoles releases as well. They do release everywhere the next day after all.

It's nice to see they are keeping the Pokemon Direct format tbh. It's been nearly 2 and a half years since the last one.

If they do talk about the VC releases I wonder if we could really be going back to a future Kanto. Like I can see them segway from talking about the VC to talking about the games, while showing the VC footage and then BOOM, the new PC is running down a massive new route 5 to a bustling Lumiose sized Saffron City.
