Secondly general opinions about the game. I've talked with Max about a couple of these. First was the OC. Each subsequent WotE game has had more and more OC. While this can make for an interesting game, it is my personal opinion that there was slightly too much in this version. In future versions, I'll definitely outlaw OC.
There were several backend thoughts here also but that's a hosting talk and not needed here in public thread unless y'all people are too nosy for your own good

That would make the game borderline, if not practically, unwinnable.
you're already complaining about the hosting not suiting your tastes, why not spill it all? ;3

I don't think cutting off OC entirely is a good idea because then the game could drag on too long. Just limit it a bit, maybe ban type claiming. Also a larger variety of places the moves could be from. Them being from just level up made it really really easy to figure out.

Already...?

All that effort for just two phases... Yeah, I would definitely cut OC off. Maybe randomize people in pairs of two to work together and win together. Thanks for hosting!
Limiting pairs like that could work, but I think the real issue is:
Thanks for hosting Max (and Soulmaster)! It was a fun game and would love to do more of these kind of games.

I would like to thank @CheffOfGames and @Midorikawa, without them I couldn't be able to win it so soon.
As you might know, Cheff had contact with almost everyone, except Mido. Many of you claimed to him which he then told me.

Agreed.

You think it's bad from the outside, imagine being included in all of those PMs. I had no time to look at anything because I was always getting another WotE PM.
Pretty sure I got over 400 PMs on Tuesday. -_-

Cutting off OC would not make the game unwinnable. Each person is able to get the vast majority of types figured out, with maybe a couple that the move spread just didn't account for. Sure it makes it drag on for longer, but longer is better than the 5 days this was imo. The pairs is an interesting idea, we'll have to see what comes around next time. This game has given me the most to think about out of all of them thus far.

Are making moves only level up really that telling? You have no idea what type a Pokemon is and normally only a couple moves are used by that one. I don't think any Pokemon here had the signature moves from it, otherwise I would agreed it was a tad much. Also I think last time it was "any move" that the Pokemon can learn. I know Max did just level-up. Something I have thought about is give each person a Pokemon, and tell them they can choose any 4 moves from the stats of that Pokemon to use. And it could be chosen on the go. So Phase 1 you could use 1 move, then choose your later moves to help narrow it down that way. Just a random thought I had.

EDIT:

I still haven't read half of them..., or, full read, skimmed but no in depth

DarthWolf13 you are known as Kingmaker, not Betrayer :( Oh well, nice to have allied with you Cheff and Lone, too bad Darth got us.

The game will be so different without OC; it's almost like another game. Always thought it's the EiMM kind of alliance game, without OC it will just be quite different. Not that it's bad, I'd like to see it play out.

I didn't hand my type to Cheff too quickly; in fact I was afraid of how ahead he was so I went and tried to strike alliances with MegaPod12 (that was a good one, thanks), Kazekage (sorry for the Steel fakeclaim gambit) and Rainbow Cloud (sorry for not trusting you, Darth seemed more trustworthy honestly I wouldn't expect him to even betray Cheff)

Thanks for hosting, Max and Soulmaster!

I'm assuming they were not aware of how Cheff was communicating with all other players.
you still don't just give that kind of info away for no reason
none of them allied with Cheff, they just handed him their most sensitive info because he asked??

And care to walk everyone through how you would do so well with being drip-fed info? Also as mentioned, it only lasted 5 days because:

Yes, level-up is fairly telling, since you can look up which pokemon can learn a given move that way and get a pretty good idea of what types are possible.
Being able to choose from the full list of moves sounds good, even per phase, since it still depends on tactics.

I didn't even talk to anyone and Cheff comes to me telling me they know I'm a Water-type...

Well that was quick, I knew I couldn't really win from the end of Night one, but oh well.

First of all, GDI DARTH! HOW THE HELL DID I NOT EVEN SUSPECT YOU OF FAKECLAIMING TO ME!!!
Sorry Rainbow Cloud of suspecting you of lying, this was because Darth was such a scumbag that made me make wrong conclusions...
Sorry to the Hosts, MoD and IO for spamming their inbox with messages, it got nice results though.

As for the rest of the game, it was fairly balanced, the moves were a dead giveaway at some points, for example, Pikochu with Hammer arm and Iron Head, while being only a single type must be Registeel since there are no other Pokémon who learn those moves by level up.

What I would do for the next instalment of the series is either choosing moves from the complete moveset or as you have suggested, letting the players choose their moves.

And where am I, hm? ^^

nobody is trustworthy in this kind of game until proven otherwise
nobody is trustworthy
You don't hand out critical info until your win is assured, this is basic

This was unexpected...

Well, thanks for the game, everyone. Also, even though I was dishonest about my source of info, Zexy, I'm glad you were my ally. Cheff asked me to Hammer Arm you in Phase 2, and I believed you so I said I would without doing it. :)

On that note, WYE, CHEFF?? I gave you so much information!!! Are you hippy now?!?

Deduction because of moves, you used Dark Pulse and Dragon Pulse in turn one (as far as I knew) and those moves (together with the knowledge of Calvin being Dragon) made the only possibility of Water. This is how I played the game a lot, just by looking at the moves people used and knowing a few types and possibilities gave me a lot of information. for this reason I asked a few players everything they knew about some players and their moves.

And where am I, hm? ^^

We didn't share that much :) I contacted other people too, shared even less with them.

That would only make the game slower; if you know a group that has 10+ claims and have strong hints that no one else has as many, waiting for stuff won't do you any good. Claiming to that group is worse, though... unless you get a free pass in their group like me :p

I'm glad you were my ally too. I contacted you at a point I figured Cheff has got too much and I got desperate to catch up with alliances of my own he wouldn't know about. We shared lots of nice info to each other. Don't worry about being dishonest with me, I pretty much leaked all this to Cheff when he let me in everything after all.
