I really don't think it would be best to even have a league arc into they are ready to have ash win one

I don't think that Ash will ever win a league unless the series was ending. And I feel like the reason he hasn't is because he would have to stay to defend the title and they want to keep Ash moving to other regions. It's like a journey-ending achievement in a way.

And there something called title defense in the Generation 7 game, They can make it where ash can directly challenge the elite 4 just like his did with the orange Islands champion and since alola does have kind of that vibe they could do it that way with the exception of the orange Islands that truly a official league and that arc being anime filler and never was apart of the mainline rpg games with him only challenging one person/the champion, so it didn't count especially by most peoples who watch the anime, with the alola league they will make it a official league because it part of the main line game cannon, with the other exception ash will lose his title in title defense by a random trainer possibly from the gen 8 region for him to continue on his journey to the next region.

And one more thing, Just because he win one league doesn't mean he have to end his journey, The anime is in a completely different timeline/universe from the games, So anything can happen in many way we maybe won't ever expect But as I said before I rather not have a other league arc into the anime writers are ready to let ash win Because I don't want to see peoples complains and rant more about ash losing and how annoying it getting and so on.

The orange islands didn't have Ash beat the former champion, though- champions are just named and allowed to move on- that's why he was able to just continue his journey. All of the other regions have a champion who sticks around to defend their title- Ash wouldn't be able to leave to continue his adventure. I'm pretty sure that's why he keeps losing. That, and maybe to make it look like Ash still has more to learn? He's a 10 year old and becoming a champion is pretty much a magnum opus for pokemon trainers, so unless they introduce a goal beyond that, I don't think they'll ever hand Ash the win because that's... pretty much it. He won. Yay.

And if he won it just to lose it soon after, we would have an arc of just hanging around watching him wait to get his ass kicked by the next person that comes along. And honestly, I hope we don't get that because watching him stay in one place in Alola has been bad enough. Hell, hopefully the next generation will have him adventuring again, because I hate that he isn't really exploring the region much.

Also... the league is supposed to be difficult, why are people complaining that Ash isn't OP yet? The kid runs into legendaries more often than any normal person should, I think he's Mary Sue enough.

The thing is that it was established in early DP that winning a league was just a precursor to being eligible to enter the Champion League, which is a tournament involving the Elite Four and current Champion (essentially what we know from the games). So Ash not even getting a chance to enter the "real" league is a bit insulting after over 20 years.

But I'm of the opinion that it would be random for him to win any league but the Indigo one.

It was confirmed that you can only compete in the Champion League of your home region.

Start your contdowns from 7 to zero, the date for the direct is 11th May so next Friday, Masuda himself personally appeared in my dream and told me about it. He said, he actually wanted to have a direct it an april, but convinced his team to delay the reveal, because he get to love trolling the community, as he saw how they went crazy. He told me, before bedtime he always looks through the comments of the community and laughs his ass of about them, because it helps him to easily fall aslpeep. So yeah first handed leak here, get excited pokefans, oor should you not? Because Masuda left in my dream with a smug smile, whatever that meens...

I wish Masuda appeared in my dreams like that, it would be badass.

Well ash can always win a league only to declined the champion title and give it to someone else, Because he want to travel the world to newer regions to get stronger and meet new challengers and Pokemon or he not ready to accept the champion title or even have him lose to a member of the elite 4 or champion if it a tournament base league. Which it will most likely be or have the league be interrupted just as he's about to win which will be the next best unexpected option they can do without any controversy of him losing.

And many peoples are upset about it because mainly of the fact ash said in the very first episode of the anime, *He here by declare to the world he will become a Pokemon Master* and kept on talking about his goal here and there within the series Which was a huge mistake on the anime writers part to give him such a bold goal If he was only going to lose all the official main league he enter in. with the worst case being in kalos mostly because of the over hypes that came with it, They should have just give him a different goal like to just be a strong trainer or to battle all the gym leader of the world would have made thing less controversial along with less complains about him losing a league than him making a bold goals as being a Pokemon master.

And there the anime watcher that only watch the anime only to wait and see if Ash will ever win the league ever since the very first episode of the anime and how annoying it getting for him to lose in every main league he enter and so on.

One more thing, I see we are getting really off topic with this Thread. XD

All the more the reason to return to Kanto.

Actually, that implication from the Lucian episode was never clear, since he also told Ash that he could challenge him if he won the Sinnoh League. Maybe trainers like Ash who participate in other regional leagues are so rare that Lucian didn't take them into account at first.

I recall someone mentioned that when Pokemon was originally intended to finish in the Johto era that the anime team had intended for Ash to win it's league at Pokemon's completion of the series but halted after Gamefreak mentioned that Pokemon was continuing and was getting a third generation. Seems to me, unless Pokemon ends, they will never make ash win a championship. Even for Alola, chances are they will do another XY and have him barely lose or something.

I don't even think Alola will get its league arc since Ash is not super serious about battling like he was in the past.

I like that change, makes it less predictable in a sense and allows his character to grow in other ways which is something the anime really needs to make it less one dimensional. Also like that this anime is somewhat more enjoyable and isnt so serious, its a good change for the series :D

Honestly I could see them do what they did in many of the BW episodes. (I know I know...Let's not get too far into this hahaha) Where they had smaller tournament arcs. Each tournament was about a few episodes and they didn't need to go into crazy detail. They could do a small tournament arc where Ash faces his friends in a few battles. It would be like their graduation test or something from the Pokemon school. That way they don't need to dedicate too much time to a "tournament" before jumping to the Switch game content. It would honestly make a lot more sense then for there to all of a sudden be a tournament league pop up for Ash to take on. And it would give them plenty of time to wrap things up before jumping to the new series. Regardless of what the next game is about the anime can and will wrap up in whatever way it needs to. If it needs to wrap up by the end of the year to match when a game comes out then so be it.

It would definitely be interesting to see whether a League is hosted or not, especially with the looming rumours of a return to Kanto, as if Ash doesn't technically participate in a League for SM, who's to say he has to do the Indigo League again? While if the new Games are a New Region, it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Assuming a New Region is coming I can see a Tournament of sorts being hosted which then reminds Ash of why he loved his previous adventures and he then decides to leave the Alola region (If it's a Return to Kanto I still imagine they'll do a tournament of sorts, he'll probably just have a different reason for leaving), probably sending his Pokémon to Professor Oak's or leaving them with Kukui, Poipole/Naganadel would probably go with the URS, assuming they show up or at the very least it'll go back to Ultra Space and Rotom will probably stay behind also, my hopes are Necrozma or something will smash the Dex so he'll stay in Alola to wait for a replacement…I don't want him sticking around but I suppose that will be dictated by the next games' Pokédex and maybe the tone they want for the Anime going forward…but please Gamefreak, drop the Whisper ripp-off…!

To answer the starter final evo polls, here's my predictions:

Grass/Psychic
Fire/Fairy
Water/Fighting

Interesting choice, I would definetly like to see some starters with those Combinations, but with weaknesses to Fairy, Psychic and Grass, it kinda puts the Water Starter between a Hard and even Harder place, doesn't it?

Grass/Psychic
Fire/Fairy
Water/Fighting

I could live with the first two, but I'd like a generation with no starters being fighting or having a fighting theme of any sort. Let's just step far away from that type for a generation or two and come back to it later.

I'd honestly like to see another fully monotype generation like with the Johto starters. While those starters were very undesirable in competitive viability, I loved the direction honestly because of how unique it was at the time. A real unique approach to the starters is what I crave the most as a player.

Decidueye changing types was a very fresh change to the formula, I want something fresh again :D

Well... Bulbapedia directly contradicts this statement.
Bulbapedia said:
After winning a Pokémon League Conference, a Trainer may enter the Champion League of the relevant region, where the Elite Four and the League Champion await.

'Relevant region' (the region in which the league takes place) and not 'home region'. It doesn’t mention the home region of the person at all.
