Official Pre-Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield Speculation & Leaks thread

The longer they make people wait for Sinnoh, the more the desire for it will build.

I think the Hoenn hype also had the benefit of a couple things. Since pokemon could be transferred from Gen 3 games, it wasn't as much of a necessity to make remakes of it as were Kanto and Johto. So who knew if they would even feel a need to remake them? And on top of that, the Hoenn remakes didn't even come when they were expected to- we all thought they'd come in Gen 5 but they didn't come until a generation later. So of course the hype was through the roof by then.

At this point, we're mostly sure that Sinnoh will get a remake soon, so there's a lot more patience going around for it.

I’d actually be really curious to visit the timeline in which the Hoenn remakes were made in Gen 5. I don’t hate ORAS or anything, but I remember thinking that Gen 5 Hoenn remakes could have been pretty cool, and BW did introduce a few things that seemed to (loosely) point in that direction.

More to the main point, I do think Sinnoh should be remade eventually as I think they can be useful and do some neat things, even though I am certain that they will manifest in a form that will disappoint the online fandom. After that, however, I’d be perfectly happy to never see a Pokémon remake ever again, as Beer&Nyquil alluded to. (Unlike Sinnoh, I have got absolutely no interest in BW remakes, and anything beyond that is too recent to be discussed in such terms.)

You can't always be sure of anything. There isn't a lot of demand for Sinnoh remakes. Let's Go also throws a curveball into this as well. The remakes as we know them now may cease to exist.

Can somebody tell me what did they took out from ORAS aside from the Battle Tower/Frontier (that I never use) and part of the Trick House? I have played Emerald and ORAS a lot and those are the only things that come to my head.

Also, there's another series that does remakes even more frequently than Pokémon: Final Fantasy (justified with the first one since it was an unplayable mess that makes Red/Green look complete in comparison).

- The Game Corner (though that’s technically not their fault)
- Trainer Hill (though I’d argue that the Mauville Food Court is meant to serve a similar purpose, and technically originated in FRLG anyway as Trainer Tower)
- Mirage Tower
- Desert Underpass
- The Emerald section of the Safari Zone (which I’d say is made redundant by the National Pokédex Pokémon that appear all over the region after Groudon/Kyogre)
- Does Artisan Cave count as a separate thing or as part of the Frontier? Is it big enough to care? Theoretically I suppose it still could have been placed somewhere on the Battle Resort island.
- Altering Cave (not that it was ever used in the originals, and like Trainer Tower/Hill it was also imported into Emerald from FRLG)
- The Mirage Island, with the Wynaut and the Leichi Berry
- Technically Birth Island and Navel Rock? But the only reasons you’d go to those places for are still in the game.

I think that’s it as far as removed areas.

The areas that were drastically changed are the Mossdeep Gym (overhauled), Sky Pillar (no bike puzzle), Mauville City (overhauled), New Mauville (reduced in comparison to RSE) and the Abandoned Ship (converted into Sea Mauville), while areas that were newly added include the lower floors of Scorched Slab, some new underwater routes, the Mirage Spots, and the Secret Islet/Meadow/Shore.

Again, the point I was trying to make about there not being that much demand yet and the fandom being more patient this time around. Just watch, two years into Gen 8 and everyone will be asking where's Sinnoh if they haven't already announced it by then.

Gotta agree there. XD Not just about eventual Sinnoh remakes but with them ending the remakes there. Because, while I'm not a fan of Black and White, I know that the story for those games was really popular among the fandom, and I think any remake could probably hurt that pretty badly with any changes that might be made. If Gen 5 was memorable for its story more than anything, I don't think it's safe to subject it to a remake where that story would likely be tweaked to make it seem new.

It is an interesting question to ask of when the line will be drawn as far as remakes go. If Sinnoh remakes get their time to shine on the Switch, fans of Unova may start to wonder when their favourite region might get time in the spotlight, as well.

It's... quite the conundrum, I think.

Of all things they can include from dppt, please dont be hms. ORAS overhauled the annoying contest side part to be actually fun, I hope they also overhaul the hm thing to at LEAST remove things like rock climb and haze, but since you can ride pokemon in lgep, i wonder if you'll be able to ride your own to overcome obstacles? I'd be cool if like, you could get some pokerider thing but once you get a pokemon that can do x thing, you'll be using it instead of... idk tauros for rock smash.

-I never used the Game Corner outside of using it to get Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Flamethrower and Psychic earlier. Now that TMs can be used multiple times they would break the game even more than in RSE since at the earliest, I got them by the time I beat Flannery.
-I never used Trainer Hill and I guess it never had a chance to appear.
-Mirage Tower can keep being missing because of the Mach Bike puzzle.
-Sure, you can catch Ditto there, but aside that and the other fossil it's kind of pointless.
-It's now pointless thanks to the Origin Cave... thing.
-Artisan Cave was also kind of pointless, aside from being the only place to get Smeargle.
-Altering Cave was completely pointless thanks to Game Freak never making that event. Even weirder is the fact they added it to Emerald even though all the Pokémon you could get there got placed in the Safari Zone and Artisan Cave. Maybe they had plans to do it later?
-Mirage Island is something I'm glad they removed. Sure, you can't get Liechi Berries in ORAS as far as I know, but they way they implemented made it extremely frustrating to the point I didn't know about until around 2007 (I got Sapphire since 2003).
-Well, Birth Island would be a little bit weird to include now that Lugia and Ho-oh can be found at Sea Mauville. Same with Deoxys and Birth Island.

Other changes that now come to my mind were pretty minor in my opinion, like the disappearance of female Psychics and Triathletes, and the addition of Aarune, Zinnia, and the addition of the Fairy Tale Girl, Brains & Brawns, Ace Duo, Delinquent, Street Thug and Rotation Girl Trainer classes. Secret Bases now can be fan-made gyms, and that's all it comes to mind.

EDIT: Also, I forgot about the Scorched Slab. Now it has a purpose aside from being a reference to Japanese mythology.

I'm pretty sure the era of HMs is dead now with the introduction of Poke Rides. There apparently aren't any HMs in Let's Go either.

What do we think of this? It's too early for Gen 8 leaks, really, but a reverse image search turns up only the 4chan thread it was posted on.

Let's see how long it takes the owner to fess up. Cute though. I could imagine encountering it, but it likely wouldn't evolve, so I doubt I'd train it.

Really not a fan of the design. Good try though, I guess?

I wonder what the pika-clone will be based on this time.

Yeah I'm not a big fan either. It's cute, but eh. Something is off about it. The ears?

It’s head is too big...

I mean, it is a chipmunk...

A chipmunk's head isn’t as big as its entire body though.
