Official Pre-Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield Speculation & Leaks thread

Well I skimmed through the text dump and I only found two things of note so far:

1. Someone mentions that Bill created the GO park with help from "some professor from a faraway region". Could this be Willow? I would think if it was an existing region or professor, one or the other would be mentioned.

2. There's a book in the game called "Dark Charisma: How You Too Can Become an Evil Mastermind!" Funnily enough, this is similar to the name of a Biography of Adolph Hitler. lol. So I guess the next region could be Germany.

If there is a hint somewhere in the game; I'm not really even sure what I'm looking for.

Is there something particularly British about "Paltry Postcard" other than the use of the word paltry?

People believe because the NPC mentions the following " Not even a Paltry Postcard or two?" and talks before hand that there's no souvenirs, no t shirts, no snowglobes, not even a paltry postcard or two. That its a reference to Raphael Tuck and Sons which started business in London 1866, The business being one of the most well known in the postcard boom era and were most well known for their postcards. Two being a powerful theme in their coat of arms. Ruffled did a video covering it.

The leak is fake. Here's the Miracle Twin trademark:

Nintendo And Pokémon Developer Game Freak Apply For 'Miracle Twin' Trademark In Japan

It says that it only covers "controllers, joysticks, chargers, and parts and accessories for household video game machines, cards, toys, and more".

I guess the reason why I think it is real is because of wanting a water/dragon starter lol. But an a serious note, there is an image in SM or USUM (I forget which one) that shows two posters in the GameFreak office and in both posters it seems like a deer/ram/elk and bird are the mascots of the posters which made me feel we should keep an eye out on this leak as it connects to what is on the posters which I believe hint at generation 8.

Starting to believe that the UK will be the basis for the next region, but if that's the case, I hope they include the entirety of it, I just want a region that doesn't play by the idea of islands as we already had Hoenn and Alola back-to-back.

It's already been confirmed fake. The Miracle Twin trademark has nothing to do with games and exclusively deals with hardware (and there is no Calamity Twin trademark either).

I think the leak is on the mark with London as a potential generation. Regardless if the TCG trademark has nothing do with the games, thats irrelevant, its this significant piece that keeps turning up with the UK references that is making me curious.

I would be very surprised if they went back to one word names honestly.
I don't know how they could go "back" to one word names when they never really left them. The first games for a generation have always been one word and we have yet to break away from that.

One thing I have liked is that the modern age of pokemon really has some deep meaning behind the one word names, if that continues ill be satisfied. Just wanna see pokemon not be a childish jrpg for once lol

So apparently there's a new Switch model in the works: (Article is from October. So a bit old.)
A New Nintendo Switch Revision Is Coming Next Year, Report Says

Focused on improving display and other elements. And could prolong the Switch's lifespan.

A better display could make the upcoming games look even more beautiful than initially planned. Glad I still haven't got a Switch yet.

Glad that I haven’t bought a Switch too. It’s in line with my predictions that Pokemon 2019 will be bundled with the new Switch revision. (Yay for prediction abilities!)

Finally my reason for holding out on a Switch purchase is more than just a hunch.

Black and White is the closest we have for a non-childish main line Pokemon game with one word titles.

Sun and Moon also had pretty deep meaning in regards to plot, with Lillie meant to represent the moon, and the player character the Sun, and Lillie 'reflecting' the player's light and turning into her Z-Powered form.

Every game title post DP has a deeper meaning ingrained with it, and I think the next games will follow suit.

The 'Twins of' titles can be classed as fake imo, since no version has never, ever been negative. This is very, very unlikely to change since friends are supposed to buy different versions and each one is supposed to be a just and correct choice.

And I'm not even sure what theme could these cover. Miracle sounds like luck without it going into fairly religious or cult territory, whereas Calamity cannot be very easily related to it (and they aren’t abstract titles like the pre-DP ones so I think it’s fair to analyse them in a literal sense.

The only thing I can think of linking Miracle and Calamity is Miracle representing good luck, and Calamity representing bad luck, and I, again, highly doubt that there’ll be a 'bad luck' version.

And that’s not even addressing the 'Twins of' in each title. Does that imply 2 box mascots per version? Four Legendaries or two Legendaries with dual characters for each? That seems like an even more strange and complex arrangement.

Moreover these titles sound like some edgy names someone came up with for a random game.
So I rest my case for why 'Twins of Miracles/Calamity' leak is fake.

I'd love to see someone come up with a counterargument. (Please excuse any grammatical mistakes since it was written quickly in excitement on a touch device and I'm not a native speaker).

That tripped me up too but I think the leak states that it is "twin" and not "twins". How I rationalised it is that the box mascot is the twin of 'miracle'/'calamity'.

You have a point here but I don't see how this reconciles with your earlier claim of how the player character represents the Sun and Lillie, the Moon, since that would mean Sun is the right and correct choice.

Yeah. We never really broke away from one word names for new gens and I don't think that we will.

Postcards were invented in Britain and the word paltry is stereotypical British . I don't understand why RuffledRowlett focused on a particular company in his video however.

Really hate it when they do that, the people who buy early are their biggest most loyal fans and they stab you in the back, still haven't forgiven them for the extremely short lifespan of the Wii U

As a side note I really hope the region is the whole of the UK (as the calendar suggests) and not just London.
London will play a big part as Lumiose/Paris did in Kalos for sure, but it makes no sense to have France as 1 region but then breaking up the UK into smaller ones.

Besides I don't think it would work as London is surrounded by land on all sides so you couldn't really make out any shape. We have the Thames for sure, but that's a river all other regions directly link to the ocean. I agree with IGN that Hoenn had too much water, but a region based on just London would have too few.

What the hell? Making a revision is not “stabbing you in the back”. Every electronic device ever gets a new revision/model/etc...

Do you think also think Apple and other phone companies are stabbing their customers in the back when they release an improved version of their phones?

You mean Mein Kamph? Or it could be something related to Moriati from Sherlock Holmes.

I think the titles represent which phenomenon you experience in the game more- the sun or the moon, with the Sun/Moon themes in the game being not really specific to the version.

And that also can be chalked up to GameFreak’s unwillingness to make two characters.
Another reasoning can be that the PC cannot be given a personality. For all we know the Moon PC learnt to be more open and cheerful thanks to Hau.

Choosing to bathe in moonlight instead of sunlight throughout the experience isn’t really inferior, compared to choosing from miracles and calamities.

FYI Switch is supposed to have a longer lifespan than other Nintendo consoles (official statement), and its not going to be a next generation upgrade like the Wii U, so the next releases will be still playable on he Switch.

It’s a safe assumption that no major release will be exclusive to it, in a similar vein to New 3DS.
