Z Move versus Mega Evolution. Wishes, Ash can make it through as the first round is always the hardest of all.

I think it was already confirmed that Ash will use Gigantamax in this battle. This isn't show in the preview, but they may want it to be a surprise.

Does that mean, Ash is going to lost to Steven next week?

Im still predicting a shifting method here. And from what we saw (prev')... I wish Ash makes a burn on Aggron and then switch to Dracovish. It could be level up for him as a trainer, and would let him save Gengar Gmax to the very end. If not, I realy can't see any other way to win this without a Z move.

I hope Ash won't spam Gmax right away (Please don't). We know they wrote its gonna be a struggle, but hey, it feels Ash can't win Mega Metagross Without using a gimick..

And it sucks that Pikachu is being backed up against a corner and that it relies on a gimmick in order to win. This is why I hate gimmicks.
For Ash vs Leon I hope The Nuke fails or is not used as the final blow because I can’t handle people glorifying that move again after SM and Volkner

Whatever it is, that shot is gorgeous.
That's what people on Twitter were saying, too! :D (I guess it does look kinda alright, at least by Journey's animation standards.
the 2 screenshots are of the same move right?
Well, that's what people like myself are trying to figure out. We think the first image is of Aggron using Heavy Slam, since it resembles the bottom image.
According to a magazine, the next round will be a 3v3 and Ash will use Sirfetch’d, Dragonite, and Godcario
Huh, was kinda hoping for more than a 3v3 for Ash vs Cynthia, since it's such a long-awaited battle. Oh well. I guess this is the writers way of making sure all of Ash's Pokemon get to participate before the battle with Leon.
According to Pokefans Taiwan and another source, The Nuke (10MV) will be used in this battle. RIP GMAX

(Then they'll all participate in that battle too, since I'm assuming it's gonna be 6v6.)

Is that move Metagross using against Dracovish Zen Headbutt? It kinda looks like it.
GOD Steven is SO GAY (in a good way)
Huh?

GOD Steven is SO GAY (in a good way)
Steven/Wallace is the OTP of OTPs of this entire franchise.

Although, I do love Steven. Easily my favorite champion and I'm glad he's the one who'll get to battle Ash. I know he's going to lose but battling Ash guarantees his match will have the best animation of the round 1 fights and that's all I really want to see. Him being a badass

I dunno he's like smug and flamboyant and I love it even if I don't care about him
Being smug and flamboyant isn't "gay" though nor does it make someone "gay;" you may not have meant it as such, but it kind of comes off as a negative perception when you use those specific attributes to determine someone's sexuality or how they "act." And speaking of flamboyant (which Steven is far from, personality-wise), while gay people can be flamboyant, being flamboyant does not automatically mean you are gay.

Athough we already know the result of this battle (Ash losing and going home  ... just joking ), I'm still wondering what kind of battle it will be.
Let's take a look at the previous battles:

Leon vs. Alain: I can't classify that battle because it was so terribly written.
Lance vs. Diantha: A battle between brute force on the one hand and defense and strategy on the other.
Cynthia vs. Iris: As I already wrote in my review, a battle that had everything you can wish for! And above all, it was a battle of willpower and pure passion.

So, what kind of battle will Ash vs. Steven be? We know Ash will most likely rely on his "crazy tactics" battling style. But what about Steven? Hard to say because we've hardly seen a proper battle of him so far. Judging from the preview he seems to rely on physical attackers while also concentrating on evasiveness (see his Metagross). Thus, he reminds me a little bit of Diantha. So, I'd say the biggest surprise that I'm personally looking for will be Steven's battling style.

If the AG series had Steven appear properly throughout it, this probably would have been a very nostalgic battle like Ash/Cynthia is wanted for over 15 years. It's a real shame there's no history behind Ash and Steven, and I honestly blame the original Hoenn saga for this rather than Journey's. If Steven appeared 3-5 times back then, was in the Groudon/Kyorge finale, this would have been anticipated the same way Cynthia's match is for DP fans.

It would've also helped if XY had actually remembered to include some continuity every once on a while and had Ash recognize Steven. Let's hope we'll get a reference to their XY encounter during this episode.

Now that I think about it, XY kinda treated Steven as if he had always been the Hoenn Champion, didn't it?

There was the mega evo special

Sounds weird but the more time passes the more I'm liking this matchup. It's fun seeing Ash take on different champions. Ash and Steven aren't complete strangers, they've met before and have mutual friends. I hope Dracovish and Gengar also both get KOs here

Does anyone think this might end up being a two-parter?

Tbh I'd like it but I'm doubtful atm
