As Pokémon UNITE continues with its extended first anniversary celebrations, Nintendo have announced details on a range of updates and in-game events that will be coming to the MOBA title through September and October. This includes first details on three new playable Pokémon that are joining the game's roster, more information on the Theia Sky Ruins map, and a first peek at a new event, the Legacy Trainer Showdown.
A brand new battle arena for Pokémon UNITE was premiered during the opening ceremony of the 2022 Pokémon World Championships, with a trailer for the Theia Sky Ruins. While sporting a similar layout to the existing Remoat Stadium map, this new map features battles with wild Pokémon not previously seen in the game, including a face-off with the Sky High Pokémon, Rayquaza. Also released during the live stream were codes for players to acquire a Worlds-themed T-shirt avatar item in-game, as first announced together with the streaming schedule last week.
With Pokémon UNITE celebrating it's first anniversary this Thursday on July 21st, The Pokémon Company have announced a suite of updates and in-game events that will be coming to the MOBA title over the course of the next month to mark the milestone. Together with an anniversary event featuring rewards for both new and returning players, the game will also be seeing the addition of a new limited-time game mode, as well as six new playable Pokémon joining the game's roster.
This week, The Pokémon Company and Pokémon UNITE have officially released in English the first two chapters of Pokémon UNITE - Come Over to Aeos Island!, a new manga series based on the Pokémon UNITE game developed by TiMi Studio Group. Like the games it's based on, the new manga has been made free for anyone to download.
Pokémon UNITE's official Twitter account has announced that the Psychic-type Eeveelution, Espeon, will be joining the game's roster from May 16th, as a ranged attacker. Espeon is the second playable Eeveelution in the free-to-start title, following the addition of Sylveon to the roster last October.
Battle Pass 7 has gone live in Pokemon UNITE together with the update to Version 1.5.1.2 and the start of Ranked Match Season 4. Following on from the western theater theme in the previous UNITE in the Spotlight Battle Pass, this latest Battle Pass is named for the traditional Japanese Kabuki theater. The update includes a variety new player character accessories based around traditional and period Japanese clothing. Also featured are new unlockable Pokémon Holowear for Blastoise, Charizard, Eldegoss, and Trevenant. The Pokébuki Battle Pass will run through to June 12th at 7 pm (CDT).
The next fighter coming to Pokémon UNITE has now been officially revealed! The Water-Fairy type Pokémon Azumarill will arrive in-game on April 7th, as a Melee All-Rounder. The addition of Azumarill brings the game's roster up to a total of 34 playable Pokémon, with more new Pokémon expected to be announced in the near future. A new Holowear set for Wigglytuff has also been teased.
Battle Pass 6, UNITE in the Spotlight, has gone live in Pokemon UNITE together with the update to Version 1.4.1.7. This latest battle pass is centered around a theatre theme, adding in a variety of new player character accessories, and unlockable Pokémon Holowear for Greninja, Sylveon, Absol, Gengar, and Garchomp. Separately to the new Battle Pass, a new version update has also added Duraladon as a playable Pokémon.
Registration has officially opened for the Pokémon UNITE March Cup, which will run on March 12th-13th. This tournament forms part of the Pokémon UNITE Championship Series, which began just last month, and is an Open Qualifier for the March Finals to be held on March 26th. The series allows Trainers around the world to compete in a series of monthly, online tournaments for a chance to earn championship points, prize money, and a possible trip to the 2022 Pokemon Unite World Championships in London. In total, over $1 million USD in prizes will be awarded in cash and other prizes over the course of the 2022 series, with half a million USD to be given away at the World Championships alone.
The Pokémon Company has announced that the Mythical Psychic/Ghost Pokémon, Hoopa, will be coming to Pokémon UNITE as part of the official Pokémon Day event. While the official event will begin on February 27th, the UNITE License for Hoopa and some special events are already available in the game for Trainers to use, including an all-new battle mode - full-fury battles! This event brings new Holowear to the game alongside special battles and challenges.
