Teams for the Championship Series must consist of 5 individuals who registered for the qualifying tournaments in their region. Qualifying tournaments which will be held every month until May 2022, after which the Regional Championships will begin. Players will earn Championship Points based on their team’s finishing place in each month’s tournament. These Championship Points are retained by individual players, to allow for adjustments to be made for team changes as the season progresses, however teams must maintain at least 4 of the 5 players on their roster from month to month to retain tournament standing. Teams which qualify for Monthly Finals also cannot change their roster between the qualifying tournament and the finals. The teams with the most combined Championship Points will qualify for the Regional Championships, from which the top teams will qualify for the Pokémon UNITE 2022 World Championships.
Competitions are being held every month across ten separate Regional Zones. The top teams from each region will be gathered following the conclusion of the Regional Finals in June, converging at the World Championships. Regions covered include Japan, South Korea, Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, Oceania, and from this month, Mexico, Central America, South America - West, and South America - East.
The March Cup will follow a Double Elimination bracket, with a maximum of 2048 teams in the Japan and South Korean regions, 256 teams in the Oceanian region, and 1024 teams in all other regions. Double Elimination brackets will progress until 12 teams remain standing. These 12 teams will then join the top 4 from the February Final in the bracket for the March Final.
