I'll be honest, as a Pokemon, I don't mind Charizard much. He's decent, not a wholly terrible choice in Kanto and has a wide movepool. I can see his pros. It's the fan response that pisses me off. Charizard's performance is decent, but the fans haave blown it way out of proportion and make him out to be the biggest badass in history since Jesus. In their blind fanboy/girling of Charizard, many other, equally as good or clearly better Pokemon are left by the wayside. Venusaur and Blastoise are two such Pokemon. Their battle performances are both miles ahead of Charizard, but the damn thing is just so damn popular that these two get almost none of the respect they deserve. As a rule, I'm a pretty big advocate for underappreciated Pokemon (Torkoal, Grumpig, Tropius, Jumpluff are good examples of Pokemon I like) and overrated ones really grind my gears. Hence my huge dislike for Charizard. The monkey's an entirely different case though.
