  • I'm a bit confused by the lack of ongoing discussion about the movie teaser. You'd think that either a mid-generation expansion or a new generation would generate a lot of speculation, but I guess that the consensus is that the blob is either a Zygarde form or it won't even make its game debut until 2017? Both are weird assumptions to make.
I'm watching the Japanese dub, and I like it. I skipped three episodes when the "monster of the week" formula got a little boring since the protagonists never had much of a problem with the battles, but things got more interesting in episode 18 when Sora was kidnapped. The episode where Taichi returns home has a more mature vibe to it, since you see how he struggles between wanting to stay and helping his friends (and the world, apparently). Oddly enough, I remember watching a segment of that episode some time ago, but I don't remember why or how I did.

I love the personalities of the main cast's Digimon. I think there should be a talking starter in at least one Pokémon game. Detective Pikachu is supposed to have a talking blue Pikachu as an enemy...
By the way, I'm watching Digimon Adventure for the first time in preparation for the Tri movies.
How much would I pay for DLC? Probably a maximum of $20 and I'd only bother with features that interested me, if that selection were possible.
The two primary campaigns cost around $57 together, which seems quite fair. The third campaign brings it up to $78, but possibly just for the limited physical edition.
Picking a version is a choice to begin with, albeit not necessarily an informed one. I think that people should only be worried about how much the DLC costs; apparently all three versions combined cost (the equivalent of) $80 in Japan. So is the entire package worth the price of two games?
Doesn't DLC make all the storylines available in a single version? So why would anyone buy both versions?
So-called rules will be broken in a pretty big way as long as Kalos doesn't get another main series game. Hopefully the next initial versions will be so much better than XY that no one will see a point to another game set in the same region.
In the future? That would be nice. Now? They wouldn't do it in the tail end of a generation while working on the next. And judging from Masuda's words, they won't even make the next game n3DS-enhanced if it is part of this generation.

And Kalos' theme would make for a very poor overarching story. :-/
All I know is that the Strange Souvenir is tied to a new region, and they would only use it for a new generation. Since my theory is that the Zygarde form/s will make their main series debut in Generation VII, I suppose the Strange Souvenir might be a reference to Zygarde. The fewer creepy Pokémon, the better. I always assumed that the souvenir wasn't an accurate depiction, much like the Dialga/Palkia statue in Eterna City.

Ports/ferries/trains should work for DLC, but we don't know that Game Freak are interested in it... Still banking on an app or a spin-off game to wrap up Kalos.
I wish I knew why fans want things to be predictable. Not that I consider a Zygarde form confirmation of a Kalos main series game, considering that the existence of such a form was never the question. But it's hard to be optimistic when the fans make it so easy for Game Freak not to try anything new.

"Aliens" is what people say when they can't comprehend the ingenuity of ancient civilizations.

Simply making a joke, sir. For the record, I'm fascinated with ancient history and what the early civilizations were able to accomplish with so little advancements in society.
It would be funny if Zinnia were the player character turned into a Pokémon, and she ended up discovering that Aster never died, instead becoming the other Aster.

With dungeon layouts that change every time you enter them, the fun never ends! Battle alongside Legendary and Mythical Pokémon to save the world from a crisis in a tale of unprecedented scale.

I'm crossing my fingers that Zygarde, Eternal Floette and Volcanion are going to be incorporated into Super Mystery Dungeon so that this generation can be wrapped up. It's a safe bet that Hoopa Unbound will be a villain, so at least it will get some game-related exposition this way. I don't see a problem with Zygarde starring in a spin-off game, especially if a special Zygarde ends up being transferrable to Generation VII to unlock its forms.

If Game Freak have established a multiverse, why not connect the main series to the Mystery Dungeon world? All they need is to have Matsumiya or another person help Chunsoft. It would be pretty fitting if Zinnia, Aster and AZ were involved in the game. Emma and Looker can show up in Detective Pikachu, which I'm still expecting to see at E3.

Mind you, I don't see myself actually buying Super Mystery Dungeon considering the annoying gameplay (super annoying this time?), but I would think that a lot of fans would be interested in the game if my prediction turned out to be correct.
Here's another series that Game Freak can learn from, or at least fear its success. Here are the points that I find interesting:

    ----------
While Keita’s story is focused in St. Peanutsburg, USA, Inaho’s story is focused in Sakura New Town, Japan. Inaho’s story is a Yo-kai detective team-like story, while Keita’s is about settling the trouble-making of Yo-kai in a foreign country.

Following the game’s release, Level-5 says it will release at least three large-scale updates, pushing the game to version 4.0.
    ----------
The previous games had another female player character, Fumika, who was was simply interchangeable with Keita. But the latter is the Ash-like character who is the star of the anime. Now they're phasing out Fumika and introducing Inaho, who is geeky and has her own unique story and mascot. I know how playing as two characters works in adventure games, but I haven't seen it done in RPGs.

I don't know what to make of the large-scale updates, which are free. Level-5 released a third version for the second entry last year (the first two versions had been released five months earlier), and that version alone rivaled ORAS' sales. So I'm confused about their agenda: Why are they reverting from three versions to one game that is continuously expanded for free? I guess it has to do with the dual release of the spin-off game, and more importantly the upcoming cross-media franchise.

But mostly, I'm impressed by the focus on storytelling as opposed to competitive aspects.
