Pokémon GO Special Weekend event to be held in the US and Japan as well


We reported over the weekend that a Pokémon GO Special Weekend event would be held in Mexico in collaboration with 7-Eleven. We now know the same event will also be held in the United States and Japan, with different commercial partners, specifically Verizon (US) and Yoshinoya (Japan).

During the event, Trainers with an event ticket will be able to encounter featured Pokémon using Incense and through Field Research, receive items from Timed Research, and several other bonuses. Trainers without an event ticket may still enjoy some bonuses.

Features for ticket holders:
On May 29, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Eevee, Marill, Sableye, Stunky, Spritzee, Swirlix, and Unown (V in the US; Y in Japan; S in Mexico) will be attracted to PokéStop with an Incense activated. Shiny Eevee will also have an increased chance of appearing.

From May 29, 2021 at 12:00 a.m. to May 30, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. local time, completing event-exclusive Field Research will let you encounter Pokémon such as Eevee, Spritzee, Swirlix, and Deino. Completing event-exclusive Timed Research will reward you with XP, Stardust, Incense, Star Piece, Lucky Egg, Spritzee Candies, and Swirlix Candies, and there is an increased chance of receiving a Lucky Pokémon when trading with a friend, and becoming a Lucky Friend when interacting with a friend. You will receive double XP for catching Pokémon. Exclusive event medal will also be awarded.

Features for non-ticket holders and worldwide:
From May 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. through May 31, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. PST, the number of gifts that you can open will be doubled, and the trading range will be raised to 40 km.
